I really love this place. I have been going for over 5 years now and I am never disappointed with the service that I have received.

I'm putting 4* just because there is always something to improve. The way this workshop looks is the only minus I would put. No coffee or snacks, even no restroom for guest (at least the one you can see) But do you really care how the workshop looks? Friendly and knowledgeable staff, quick and professional service, no queue, no waiting. Small tyre repair and whole maintenance this is the point to go. For me the good thing is, I work nearby, I arrive in the morning to JCW, mechanic gets to my car and we drive to my office. I go to work, he drives to the workshop. When job is done, mechanic brings my car back to my office. Such a great option, at least for me!! Thanks and see you next year. read more

Seems dishonest. I was told labor to replace my wheel bearing would be over an hour and charged me 115$ for that labor, while I saw the mechanic do it in less than 15 minutes. Makes me wonder what else I got overpriced for. See my receipt. read more

The service at this place has declined tremendously. I used this place for oil changes all the time for years but lately they can't get it together to even schedule an appointment. Today I called and the girl responded I'm sorry and hung up on me. This was after I left messages for days trying to schedule an appointment. I came here because I saw their oil change promotion on Groupon. The service was super quick and pretty affordable in my opinion esp since I got the full synthetic option. Note that there is an additional $14 fee which is written in the fine print. The girls at the counter were super helpful and they answered all my questions After reading the yelp reviews, I was really afraid that the shop would push for other services but that was not the case. I didn't get any other work done here, so I'm not sure how fair the price is but the oil change is definitely more than reasonable. read more

Ran a diagnostic on my vehicle and fixed the issue, all in 15 minutes! The cost is affordable and the staff were very helpful. Total thief's!!! My husband went to get our oil changed and they let him know we needed breaks and tires. They quoted 125 for tires and 89 for breaks and We made an appt. Then while there they said out rotors were bad and they quoted around 200 for that. Once the car was done my husband gets the bill and it's over 700!!!! He tried to remind the guy of the quote we were given yesterday and he had some bullshit story and would not honor the original quotes. DO NOT TRUST THESE THIEFS!! ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY!!!!! Let me start by saying the customer service was fine. My complaint lies within the service(s) and outrageous dishonest pricing. Got a Groupon for an oil change. Should have been a simple task. Was told we needed a new catalytic converter and was given a price over $1,200, told that was a "deal". Took it elsewhere the very next day and had a new catalytic converter, spark plugs changed and smog check done for less than $400. Unfortunately, places like JCW get away with outrageous overcharging. Get a second opinion on your vehicle! It could save you lots of money. read more

I am here today redeeming a Groupon coupon for a full synthetic oil change dor $43. As another reviewer also reported JCW will charge you an additional $13 for tax and removal after the price of the Groupon. Im always curious to see how im treated when redeeming a Groupon bc some businesses treat these discount customers like second-class citizens. Im here in the waiting room and was told that it would be a one hour turn-around, which is fine. I do have an appointment which Groupon requires. The waiting room has tv, coffee, tea, instant noodle soup, coloring books for kids, a charging station for phones, hand sanitizer, and even pop tarts. It smells good and is clean. Actually, the whole shop is clean, even the work areas, and the staff is very nice. After: The oil change was done 10 min sooner than I was told - sweet! Let me tell you about JCW Auto Repair. On 8/9/2024 I was traveling from Berkeley CA after visiting my son, daughter in law, and toddler grandson back to my home in north coastal San Diego. I had my 5-month old Corgi puppy with me, (she was a champ the entire trip). I noticed during the grapevine approaching the LA National Forrest the engine seemed to be working hard. I saw freeway signs recommending drivers turn off their AC during the steep grades and incline and I did so. Google maps redirected me to go through Pasadena to SD vs LA as LA rush hour traffic was slammed on Friday. Travel slowed considerably and I noticed my temperature gauge starting to rise in the stop and go traffic. I turned off the AC again, it was 107 degrees outside. Across the freeway from me was a Subaru car dealership, but it was now 5:01 and I know the service dept would be closed. I took the very next exit as I could see it was an industrial area and there had to be something there. I pulled over in some shade to let the car temp gauge to cool down. I saw the car repair shops were all closed. I thought about calling AAA, but what could they do other than tow me? I called my brother in law in SD, he had me pop the hood and check the coolant which was almost empty. He directed me to drive a few miles just west of my location to an O'Reilly auto parts store and he would coach me how to add the coolant. I started to drive about a block and found JCW Auto repair with the bay doors still open. It was clear everyone was closing up but stayed to help me. Jed immediately went to work, I popped the hood, he could smell the radiator heat. Jed immediately noticed my radiator cap was broken. I explained I had taken my Subaru to the dealership two days prior to my road trip to have the oil changed, tires rotated and the fluids all checked. Jed said the service department should have caught this broken radiator cap. Two jugs of coolant. Jed tried to find a used radiator cap that would work, he finally took one off his own personal vehicle that fit my Subaru. Jed cautioned me to drive the rest of the way to SD at normal speeds with no AC. It was blazing hot out there. He even gave me a jug of water if the temp gauge started to rise again and explained do not open the cap until it cools down. Jed seemed genuinely concerned and worried but felt I should be able to make it to San Diego if I take it easy. I asked Jed how much I owed him and Jed told me to give him whatever I thought was right. I am a widow traveling alone, I am beyond grateful for Jed dropping what he was doing to take care of me and get me on my way. He had along day at work and was ready to go home. Jed really saved me and my little puppy. He saved me an expensive repair bill or even my car breaking down on the freeway. I shudder at the danger of that. My sons and my family are exceptionally grateful too. It should be noted when I got to San Clemente I turned the AC on and the temperature gauge never moved from the middle center line. It was so chilly in the cabin my fingers and feet were numb with cold air. I would definitely, most assuredly take my vehicles to JCW Auto repair for all my service needs and might even drive to Azusa from SD for such quality excellence in service. This is the America I grew up in, where there was honesty, integrity and high moral character among our car mechanic professionals, where a handshake was considered to have as much value associated with it as a man giving his word of honor. Was on a road trip from LA back to where I live in Yucca Valley by Joshua Tree and my 97 Chevy Camaro was overheating and by a stroke of luck came across JCW. Needed a intake manifold gasket, coolant pipe, as well as other parts that weren't noticed til upon further inspection... Was obviously crushed but it comes with having an older car. I explained my situation to the receptionists Lisa and Megan and they were completely understanding. Even helped lower the initial cost which I didn't expect. This guys are great. Got a LivingSocial deal for 3 oil changes. Each time it was super easy to get an appointment right away and the guys were always very accommodating when I had to change my appointment time due to my crazy work schedule. The oil change takes about an hour. There is a small waiting room and they do have Wi-Fi connection so you can do work or yelp when you're waiting. Definitely would recommend this place. read more

JCW inaccurate reponse to review: JCW diagnosed brakes replacement and rotors resurfaced for my Ford Explorer. They test drove the vehicle before I departed their shop. They never told me I needed new rotors until after I drove away and called them on phone a few minutes later informing them that I was experiencing heavy tire vibration. I was not told to come back and have work rechecked - that is a straight out lie- what JCW told me straight forward over the phone was "Apparently the rotor resurfacing didn't work, and you need new rotors and quoted $200 for each rotor plus more for labor." That didn't sound right to me which was why I took my vehicle to a tire shop that replaced the rotors for half the price and showed me the evidence on the old rotors had been improperly resurfacing, caused by faulty JCW equipment blade - the rotors showed uneven surfacing. I took the old rotors back to JCW and they asked to keep them. I guess no rotors no more evidence. No mention of that in JCW's inaccurate response. Hector G. Although they were very friendly, they caused issues with my car... I went here because I had a Groupon for an oil change and I found out that they did not put a washer on the panel underneath my car that gives them access to drain my oil. Since one of the bolts was missing the washer, the panel came off the hooks and was dragging on the floor. Didn't think this would happen. read more

Oil change service was purchased on Groupon. As the fine print says, there is going to be a charge for disposal and taxes. If you don't like that, move out of State. Fees were disclosed up front. The staff was friendly and courteous. Here is where the problem is. They recommended a throttle body cleaning on a vehicle with 52K miles on it and no mechanical or running issues. The throttle cleaning is not necessary unless there is some sort of stalling or idling issue, and is proposed as preventative, although completely unnecessary. Would have given 5 stars except for such an obvious attempt to increase service costs. read more

I found this repair shop merely by chance. On my way to Azusa, California to visit our hospitalized son at City of Hope Hospital, for some unfortunate reason, our car stalled a few minutes prior to our last exit from freeway 210 West. While waiting for the AAA tow truck, i started calling all nearby car repair shops. That was when i saw the shop's name on Google. They told me to bring my car to their place right away. Knowing that we came all the way from San Diego and that our way of coming back home was the car that broke down, they immediately diagnosed the car's problem until they pinpointed the core of the problem. They prioritized fixing my car each time showing and explaining to me what need to be done. In short, the car was fixed and it began running good again and no longer stalls. The lady even instructed me to call her as soon as I made it back to San Diego. I will highly recommend them to anyone that maybe in the area if they ran into a car/vehicle problem. Good job JCW. They sent me a mailer and quoted me super Lowe price for oil change and brake pad replacement. I am not fooled by these scam artists tactics. I dont fall for the upsell and the holding of my car hostage. For customers, mark your tires so you know which one belong where when they do a tire rotation to make sure they were rotated. Check the brake pads they use.. They are using the cheapest $10 brake pads available....is your life worth $10 pads? And note or mark your oil filter to make sure they actually change it out.....they might be doing anything and billing you for a oil and filter change and a tire rotation for $75. I bought a Groupon for an oil change. I have a "average" sedan, 2014 Ford Fusion. From the get go, after buying the Groupon, they told me there are extra fees that are not listed in the Groupon. Bad start, but I already opened the Groupon (and I'm already not sure if I can return it at that point), so I tell them it's bad business but I accept it since it's only $5 or $10 extra. Then, they tell me my car needs extra oil (about an extra quart). I checked the specs from Ford and my particular car and engine takes the normal 5 quarts of oil. I'm still at the shop, they may not charge me for these extra charges they're throwing out there. However, I wouldn't trust them and I won't return to this shop. If they are trying to add on all these fees once they already have my car so I feel stuck to accept the fees, then I wouldn't recommend anyone comes here. read more

The old sloth (John) that got in my car was rude inside my car he slammed his overweight self into my car ripped my wife's photo out of my cluster with no care for my personal belongings. He nearly broke my steering column by trying to pull his weight out of the car clearly didn't know what he was doing in or out the car. They used cheap oil and a cheap knockoff brand filter. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. Go to valvoline or jiffy lube. Also when I asked the lady at the front with the fake boobs about their name so I can leave a review she said "I know where this is going, if your gonna leave a bad review just tell me now so I can have John stop the oil change" super rude and snobby also the front entrance is falling apart the drive way isn't bolted down all the way and unsafe for entry. Rear Brakes Ihave a Lexus and this is my 2nd Lexus. I gave my first Lexus to my daughter. We both came to JCW to have our oil changed(Groupon) and in both cases JCW said we needed rear brakes. My daughter had her rear brakes replaced by our family mechanic for $150 with premium pads and the rotors were not turned or replaced. On the other hand I had a brilliant idea. Since I was taking my car in to get an oil change they should do my rear brakes too, right! No, all wrong!!! JCW offered to do my brakes for $89 and if my rotors were in need of turning that would be an additional $20 for each rotor, so I requested premium brake pads, so the price went up to $119. I thought it was still a great price. Status of my rear brakes: I knew that my pads were below 10%, but the car didn't make a noise nor any shaking the car is 4 yrs old with original rear brake pads and rotors. I left my car for the oil change and brakes and I got a call shortly after from JCW stating I need NEW ROTORS! I asked why and here is the answer after going back and forth a couple of times: because it's a Lexus and all high end cars need new rotors not turned just both must be replaced at the same time and each rotor will cost $171! Wow! At this time I got my husband on the line as a conference call. He asked the mechanic if the shop knew if it was a Lexus when the car drove up and still offered $89 to do the brakes? My husband then said we will pick up the car because of there business practices. I paid for the oil change and on the receipt it did not show any other work was done to my car at their shop. I drove the car over to Tucker Tire, had the brakes done for $150, but the mechanic at Tucker Tire ask my what was the story about my rear brakes? I was puzzled when he asked. I ask him why? Then he told me that one of the rear rotors was turned. I explained and he told me the rotors were fine and should not have been touched. I only gave one because a choice of negative wasn't available. **I wonder how many times this outfit has pulled this story on people that don't question them. Very sad read more

The man who runs this place is friendly and professional. Their waiting room is clean, and it only took 30 minutes for the entirety of my visit! He gave me an overview of my car's performance and didn't try to upsell me on services I didn't need. Based on my experience, I trust this provider and will be coming back. Since I live near the area and work in downtown during normal body shop hours, I was extremely glad to find the accommodating acumen of this business! I called the owner (Judd, I assume from these previous reviews) and he informed me that I could drop off my car at 6:30AM and MacGyver my keys, information, and such in various ways. However, the morning of the apt, I checked my Groupon voucher and it said the purchase had failed. I didn't realize that before. So I called the owner early morning, and he said he would honor the price. In addition, to what seemed like at least 10 times before opening hours, I called him about having a hard time finding the shop, parking, finding the right door, locking my phone in my car, etc. Blegh, stress. But all in all, with some questionable cellular disconnections, he was still pretty patient with me (just don't test the waters too much!). It hadn't been an hour past their opening time, that I was called and notified that my car was all done. I paid over phone a couple with my cc number; since I couldn't get back to the shop in time before closing, Judd offered to drop off my car at my house. Super sweet and convenient, I couldn't give anything other than a 5 star rating for that alone (although I was a little frustrated in the morning). I believe the Groupon price for a full synthetic oil change, tire rotation and one point inspection was 43$, plus extra fees I was charged total was $49.12. Even though I know nothing about cars or how to check if anything was actually done, I found my car parked safely in front of my house! They were so kind that they had 2 technicians check my car twice! They even evaluated my whole car for free! They went above and beyond to help me. I came in this morning with a Groupon, checked in and was greeted right away. I was told upfront if there would be any fees and everything was explained to me clearly. They serviced my car right away and waited in the waiting room. If there was anything wrong with your car they took the time to show you and explain it is and why you would need to change it which, was very helpful. I was in and out in about 30 minutes for an oil change and inspection. All in all, I was very happy and will definitely come back for all my auto needs. I was recommended to download their app and was surprised to see some nice coupons. The body shop is very well kept and had no problems.
