We called JD Plumbing to assess a slow-draining tub. We'd been standing in ankle-deep water during showers, and it was getting worse. Before calling JD, we'd asked a 24-hour drain-clearing service to snake the line. After snaking made no difference, that service gave us a multi-thousand dollar quote (net of a 20% "discount") for replacing part of our drainpipe, along with several somewhat mystifying estimates for other unrelated things. Replacing the pipe made sense as a likely solution, but the price seemed very high, so I decided to get additional estimates before proceeding. That was on a Saturday, and I spent part of that afternoon researching other plumbers. Jon was one of very few highly-rated plumbers I could actually reach by phone, and he was available to come by Monday morning. He did a good job of explaining the available options and why one might be preferable to another. He suspected the previous effort to snake the line wasn't done properly and offered to try that again, as it was the least expensive option and he felt that it should solve the problem. Knowing the history of our house, though, we opted to replace the pipe as a longer-lasting fix. His price for that work was totally reasonable, and (lucky us) he was available to complete the job that day, when I had already planned to work at home. He did the work as uonbtrusively as possible, which allowed me to continue with a relatively normal workday - much appreciated. He also made a point of testing the results and checking for leaks before he left. I was so happy with the change in the water flow that I texted a video of the draining tub to my husband, who was equally thrilled. We're keeping Jon's contact info, and he will be the first person we call next time we need a plumber! read more

They seemed to have hired a third party to address our plumbing concern. When the gentleman arrived he was quick to offer us a solution he could do on the side and not go through his employer. We did not do it, but then were charged $150 days later by JD Plumbing when the gentleman did not do anything but tell us to flush our AC system. They also sent (separately) a lady who was to give us an estimate to repair the damaged ceiling. She came and we did not hear anything until I reached over a week later asking for the estimate. I was emailed an estimate and I asked questions about certain things I did not understand on the estimate. They never responded. Very poor business practice! I Highly Recommend JD Plumbing Services such a trustworthy, honest Plumber with great knowledge! Here's why: Jon came over today to give me a quote on some copper lines and a new wall mount faucet. He was very precise in explaining the job at hand. I was so surprised by how fair he was with his pricing that I decided to go ahead with the job. He cut my dry wall open installed new copper lines, new shut offs and a new wall mount faucet. He was very clean with his work and professional with his manner. I have called many plumbers in which most where scheduled out for weeks. Luckily Jon was able to come out (same day I called) and complete the work on the spot. JD Plumbing provided me with some awesome services. A tenant that I have in the bay area (I rent out property) mentioned that the garbage disposal was not working. At the moment i did not know who to call for assistance, his yelp popped up in my search so I gave him a call. Jon was able to come out in the morning and take a look at the disposal and replaced it. The service that i appreciated the most from Jon was that he kept me informed every step of the way and even sent pictures when the job was done (due to the fact that I live in SoCal). I call JD Plumbing any time I have any plumbing issues at my home. This last time I had an issue with a leak coming from the water main line, but it was on my property so EB Mud said I needed a plumber. I instantly called JD to see if he had any time available for me and was able to lock in an appointment for the next day. Him and his team came on time, as always were very polite and professional. They were able to break up the concrete on the sidewalk, dig up the front yard, replace my water line with new copper, and have it all back filled in just one day. This is a long overdue review. JD is a wonderful plumber he takes care of my rental properties in the Oakland/Alameda area. He's switched garbage disposals, to kitchen and bathe faucets, to water heaters for me. We just renovated our apartment complex and Jon completely repiped my building. He repiped our water pipes, sewer pipes in the house, and sewer pipes from the house to the street. I was very impressed by the the amount and the quality of work he did. I have used JD Plumbing twice in six months: once for a kitchen sink drain issue and once for a water heater problem. Both times they were responsive to my urgent calls and with the scheduling of the visit (unlike most plumbers). Jon arrived on time, and not only fixed the problem, but each time explained what was going on and did more than the minimum work needed without charging extra. This is not the usual plumber experience - Jon is really good. I had a backed up bathtub so I made an appointment for the next day - Jon kept the appointment and charged exactly what he said he would over the phone. A week later I was having what looked like a block in the main drainage line, Jon came by right away to look at it, gave me a quote, and then came the next day to clear it. You never want to have to call a plumber too often. However, after my first call, I had to call him back, because there was something leaking under my kitchen sink. He quickly identified the problem, hole in the garbage disposal. He recommended a specific brand and size. He came back the next day with the disposal and quickly installed it. Jon came the day after I called to look at the flood below my kitchen sink. He quickly determined that I needed to replace the garbage disposal. But there was also a problem with the U pipe. He had to make several trips to find the correct part. He was always courteous and spent the better part of the day until he got the correct part and was able to fix my problem. Jon was super helpful during our emergency. Our sewer line outside the house was backed up, and drainage from our kitchen sink ended up in our bathroom tub! The clean out outside the house could not be opened (it was old and was mostly covered over by stucco). Jon figured a way to get into the pipe and used high pressure water to clean out the sludge.
