New to this area and decided to eat here based off the reviews. Lets start by saying that the employees here go out of their way to ensure that you feel right at home. We had trouble finding this place and a couple of the waitress guided us right in. We had the pleasure of having Amanda as our server, by far one of the best servers ever. The menu had some really good choices and it most definitely satisfied my palate. I ordered the Ahi app and a Greek salad with gilled chicken fresh and delicious. The manager came over afterwards to say hello. You just cannot beat hospitality like this. I come here all the time, whenever I want great wings. I have had countless wings from tons of places in Triangle and these are consistently the biggest and among the tastiest. I love this place. My family and I visited there last week. Food was much better than average for this type of place. I had the cheesesteak and it was great. They have a decent beer selection and some beer specials. Prices were fair. Our waiter was attentive. Nice atmosphere with lots of TVs. I can't wait to go again. I hope that this place survives because I think it stands out over similar places in Apex. Judging by how crowded it was when we were there, I think they are going to make it. This place is great! The bartender Kevin is awesome as well as the rest of the staff. The slow roasted grilled wings are the best I ever had. My husband and I returned to JD's a few weeks ago and tried their grilled wings and the Cuban. The wings were big, juicy and cooked to perfection. This is a typical neighborhood bar, dark, lots of TV screens, very loud. Table conversation required yelling and this was before the Thursday night football game was turned on over the music. The outdoor seating is likely quieter. The salad was good, but despite clear instructions to cook the hamburger no more than medium, it arrived gray and well done. Service was friendly and efficient. But would I go back? Would I recommend you go there? No. Bad Daddy's offers cheaper alcohol, a better burger and even, an environment in which it's easier to talk. Went in for lunch with friends, big rip off, the Pineapple chicken sandwich $8.95 the chicken breast was about half the size of the bun, burger same price maybe a 6 ounce patty if your lucky. Our family enjoys stopping by JDs for burgers and nachos. With kids we try to go early because it gets crowded before 6:oop.m. usually. The nachos are the kids' favorite because there's enough for a family of 8 to enjoy, seriously a huge portion. Could use more cheese for amount of chips you get but definitely worth the price. Nice sports bar with above average food. My wife and I went on a Sunday so we could watch the patriots and panthers play at the same time. It was crowded but we were able to get a table with a view of both games right away. Great selection and phenomenal food. Ive been here a few times and in general i have a pretty good time. The service is lacking a lot of night except at the bar. If you want to be taken care of sit at the bar. Ive never been disappointed when i sit at the bar, however that is not always an option. The food is nothing that is going to blow you away, typical bar food. Easily the best part of the Apex bar crawl. Good selection of beer on draft and a large selection of bottles. The food is as good as any restaurant and much better than you would expect for a bar. Not impressed. It's been awhile since we've eaten at JD's as we used to be regular diners but got tired of the food and menu never changed. My wife and I both had fajitas - she had chicken and I got the steak. The meat was over cooked and dried out and the tortillas where cold and doughy tasting. Bottom line is the place is a sports bar and you get the loud music and average food to go with it. One other turn off- having the smoking area located at the entrance to the restaurant makes for an unpleasant experience of having to breathe smoke before and after eating. We decided to try JD's Tavern even after our neighbor had a not so hot experience with the facility. So we (Me, Husband, 2 kids, and my mom) went to JD's this cold Monday evening. We were greeted and seated by the guy at the host stand and it turned out that he was also our waiter (weird!). We all squeezed into a booth because I don't like sitting at the bar or at a high top table with a four year old. The menu looked good and there were several things that I thought about ordering, but finally decided on a cheese fries appetizer (with out the spicy nacho cheese). I ordered the veggie burger with salad for my meal, the kids both had spaghetti, my husband ordered a create your own hamburger, and my mom ate the turkey asparagus sandwich. So we got our cheese fries. Um...they did not have cheese on them. Ok they had a little tiny bit of cheese, but it looked like a tiny handful. I didn't realize until half way through the appetizer that the cheese fries were supposed to have bacon. There was maybe at most 5 bacon bits on the whole order. We also had to wait a really long time to get our food. Luckily they had crayons to occupy my children. Our main course foods tasted amazing. My husband even commented that it was the best burger that he has had in a long time. Our waiter/host didn't really seem like he wanted to be there or maybe didn't know what he was doing. He even spilled water on me. I am not saying that I will never go to JD's again, but I really hope that they find some better staff. read more

We wanted to sit outside - the hostess was so blatantly rude. I was happy to see another independently owned restaurant open up in Apex and my husband and I visited for the first time just before Christmas. We liked the wood paneled walls that gave it an upscale look, but also warm and inviting. The menu has a good variety and especially a large appetizer offering; we often like to get a small bite and a beer. On this trip we ordered the spring rolls. They were good. I also like that they support several North Carolina microbreweries! There is a giant screen playing music videos, and although the music was louder than normal for 4:30 in the afternoon, the place wasn't too busy and it was tolerable. We brought several friends back with us for a second visit to celebrate a birthday. We all ordered appetizers and everyone liked the food. The biggest issue was the music was as loud as visiting a downtown Raleigh night club at 11:30 at night. We asked our server to please turn it down because we couldn't hear each other talk. The server replied that it was up to the bartender??? It was 7:00 in the evening on a Wednesday and the diners were mostly 40 to 50 year old suburbanites and a few younger families. The music volume was never lowered. I think Apex can use a fun atmosphere for the younger single people who have settled here, and apparently to indulge the bartenders who work at JD's, but perhaps the volume of the music can stay reasonable until the dinner hours are over and the mostly former night clubers who inhabit Apex have tucked themselves in bed. read more

My family loves JD's. We've never had a bad experience and the food is great. It's our go-to in Apex. It's very kid friendly for a sports bar. Our service has always been great, as well!! Especially from Kevin (I think?). We've had him twice, and the second time he remembered our drink orders (down to the beer/wine)! Super friendly. If you're looking for a non-chain to go to in Apex (and they're lacking), or a great sports bar, hit up JD's. I don't think you'll leave disappointed. read more

I ordered the stuffed mushrooms and a side house salad. The mushrooms were tasty, but for the price of $6.25 I only got 6. The basket was way too large for this minimal amount. If I had served this to a customer I would have been very embarassed. The romaine lettuce was bitter and did not seem to have been washed. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals. read more
