This rating is for Heather Baker who is the best colorist, hair stylist, hair dresser- hands down- that I have ever been to. Let me be clear: my hair is thick, coarse, wire-y and hard to manage. But I love highlights- which is hard on my hair. Heather has been able to bring it to the color that I love and always provides beautiful cuts. She is awesome, detailed, caring and the entire experience is top notch. I feel like I'm getting away with something. I've been to way more expensive salons and hairdressers- and Heather blows them out the water. I promise you won't regret seeing her. I can not say enough wonderful things about her and I will never go to anyone else. I hate to write this about Heather Baker but feel this is honest feedback that may be painful. Heather is a very unreliable hair dresser. She consistently cancels last minute, with the wildest excuses: identity theft, friend's death, no money in her account, no supplies. I feel bad If this is truly happening, but having read the reviews, she has used the same excuses a year before. So either she has really bad luck when I have appointments with her, or there is a black cloud over her and many friends die when she has an appointment with me. I've been understanding but she has canceled last minute on very important occasions. So I had to sever ties. I would recommend you not book with her on an important event bc it's iffy If she will make the appointment. This last episode I told her I was going to a holiday party solely bc I knew she had a pattern of canceling last minute and she said she would prioritize me, only to learn she canceled on me just moments before. The five stars is based on my stylist Jenna, who has been cutting my hair at this salon and others she has been at since the mid-2000s. I gauge a stylist by ability to cut my hair so that I needn't put any styling product into it, and Jenna more than delivers in that department giving me a deluxe 'do that looks natural. Jenna is also great at coloring and other treatments, for the females. She's been cutting hair for years and employs the latest techniques to give you the latest styles. Most unreliable service I have ever received from a hair salon. If I could put "0" stars that would even be too many for the pure insult of how little my time and business is valued. I have never experienced a stylist cancel my appointment as many times as I have at this salon, and then to be rescheduled and later canceled again so they could accommodate someone else who canceled their earlier appointment. I've went in for 2 appointments with Heather so far to get a Brazilian Blowout and haircut/trim. She gave me an excellent deal both times and really took her time during the entire appointment, on top of working around my busy schedule. My blowout lasted for a long time and she was super helpful in recommending affordable products! (She didn't try to push any salon products) Overall, I loved both my experiences and having someone who actually cares! Of course she couldn't take the 30 seconds time out to call me to tell me. How can you treat your clients like this and stay in business is beyond me. My friend gave me a coupon for $25 off color that her hair stylist and friend, Heather Hall was offering for new clients at Jean Claude Salon. I absolutely loved how her hair color and cut turned out, so I thought I would give her a try. While at the salon, all the staff was super attentive and friendly. When I sat down, Heather asked how I would like my cut and color. I told her I wanted to try something new and edgy, similar to my friend's ombre color. She showed me a photo of an ombre that faded from fiery red to carmel to blonde. I fell in love and she went to work! I loved the head massage. She was so outgoing and I felt like I was talking to one of my girlfriends. When my hair was finished and styled, I was blown away! I never thought my hair could actually look exactly how the picture portrayed! She loved it as well. So much that she wanted to take some photos of my hair for her portfolio! I found a deal on Groupon for a balayage with Heather. I was a little hesitant after reading a couple reviews about this Groupon but thought I'd still give her a try since her other reviews are pretty awesome. IM SO GLAD I DID! Not only is she super friendly and personable, she's an awesome hair stylist as well! My hair is really thick and long and was severely damaged at the tips and she did an amazing job!! On top of my new hairdo, I told her before my appt that I had a 3 week old baby who is exclusively breastfeeding and not on a bottle yet, so I would need to bring the baby and my mom with me.. I was super nervous about bringing him and wasn't sure how it would all turn out with him but Heather was super considerate about taking breaks for me to feed him, she constantly asked me if I wanted to take a break to hold him, plus everyone at the salon loves babies! Beware of heather baker. I wish I round have heeded the advice of others and avoided her all together. Trust me, if I could give this woman no stars I would. I thought about not writing this review but i wouldn't want other people to experience the same thing I did. She is unprofessional, unreliable, and point blank a liar. She does not value the time someone sets aside either. You can count that she will cancel each appointment until your left with no options. This woman messaged me on social media and offered to cut my hair. Since I was in need of a new stylist (my current guy retired) I said yes and booked 3.5 months out. She confirmed my appointment (Dec 28th) multiple times but each time, 3 hours or less beforehand, she cancelled. At first I was very understanding, but by the 4th cancellation over a week and a half, I was fed up. She always had an excuse (1st-there was a Covid exposure in the salon/she tested and was neg, 2nd- not feeling great, 3rd- doctors appointment, 4th-never gave a reason, 5th- stated she was burnt out). Despite telling me that, she was actively posting on social media to fill open appointment times; yet when I requested those slots it was booked. Why not offer these slots to the person you've cancelled on multiple times? She eventually stated she was anxious and mentally unequipped to work, which i would have understood if that's what she said at the beginning. However, it was a new excuse every day. Heather left me in a very difficult spot nor could she recommend any stylist in her place (I only had a certain amt of time as I was visiting from out out state). I did mention her yelp reviews/this being a common theme with her clients, and she made sure to explain why each client was wrong or lied. Hmm that doesn't seem right ??! Found a groupon for balayage with Heather. Prior to purchasing called to see availability because I needed my hair done fairly quickly. She asked that I not purchase the groupon and she could do my hair for $90 which was more than the Groupon. I agreed because I needed my hair done fast. My appointment was for a Monday at 530. On Monday at 230 I got a text that she had to cancel because the salon was closed for repairs. I was rescheduled for Thursday due to the fact that I needed a late afternoon appointment. Thursday I show her my Pinterest ash tone balayage pictures. She assures me that she can get those results. I was super excited because she sounded like she was really knowledgeable. Four hours later after several toners and a bleach wash I had gold roots. Not what I asked for at all. Heather apologized and asked if I could come back in a week to fix it. She wanted my hair to have a break. I decided to give her a chance to fix it since she offered. I texted her several times with no response. Finally I called the salon and she had a new number. Three weeks later I was back at the salon. My return visit was very awkward. As soon as I sat down several staff memebers were walking back and forth glaring and whispering. Although Heather asked me to return she acted very aggravated and said that she had to hurry because she had another client. I left the salon with darker gold roots than before. She informed me that I needed to buy purple shampoo. After leaving this was my text I received from Heather. "Sorry your hair is still brassy. I promise it will fade. And that shampoo will help. Shampoo twice today. I think it's probably best you do a fine partial hilities next time. Your root color was a bit dark to start. Just keep being good to your hair. She took the time to do a thorough blowout and cut my hair in a way that it lays perfectly when either straightened or worn curly!! My hair is very thick and she was a perfectionist in going through and thinning it out and adding layers so that it laid nicely!! She was even more of a perfectionist than I would've been on my own hair!! I cannot recommend Heather highly enough. I am the type of person who used to go to anyone for my hair. My friend called to make an appointment and whoever took her call said the woman who does gel nails is only in Tues-Fri, but would come in to see us on Mon. Get there right at 2pm, which is our appt time, only to be told she's running 10 min late. 30 min later she sees us. Apparently since she was coming in to see us she decided to take other clients. Which is fine, but the wait was pretty annoying. The actual service was whatever. If I hadn't had a groupon for it, it wouldn't have been worth it. My nails weren't shaped the same (one nail is off and I'm nit picky about that sort of thing) and it seems like she didn't fill them in all the way to the cuticle since they're already growing out after two days. I started out with a dark auburn, went to a copper red, then to golden blonde, then finally to white platinum. Lovely always takes great care to find a good match for color, and uses quality products and tools. GUYS, LOOK NO FURTHER, HEATHER BAKER IS HERE. I've been searching for a new hairstylist when my friend recommended i go on groupon to test someone out for the low-low before I commit. SO, I got a groupon for Heather and texted her promptly to book an appt. She was incredibly sweet and accommodating with times, as I'm incredibly busy. The salon is located on 5th avenue, so if you don't know, now you know that it's hectic to sometimes find parking.THANKFULLY, they have their own parking garage conveniently located behind the building. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my hair, just that I needed it done. I ran a few styles past Heather, and she gave me her honest opinion about what would be best for my life style (busy, low maintenance, and keep'n it healthy). We decided on an overall color (which was cheaper than what I initially wanted and that's how I knew that she cared about the integrity of my hair). I purchased a bloomspot, living social or one of those deals- $60 for cut and color. My stylist was Christina Donahue. I went in and she was running a little late. Which was not really a big deal b/c it was only 10-15 minutes. For the color she accommodated an ombre. This was my first one so I was pretty excited. I previously had highlights and told her I wanted it that same color which was a light golden brown. She took out a swatch and told me it may look a little darker which was fine b/c she said it would fade anyway to the color I wanted. Fast forward to the end result.. It turned out to be this peanut buttery/reddish color which was no where near the color I had asked for. She said she could re-tone it but that once it fades she thinks it something I would really like. Fine b/c I had a two month old baby my mom was babysitting at home and I had been there about 2.5 hrs already! As for the cut I told her I liked my previous cut so to please just trim it. Anyway, she layered too much that my hair now looked thin and like a mullet! After I was done she asked me what I was going to do. I told her I was going home to my baby (during some conversation I did mention I had a girl). Then she asked, "oh, who's watching it". IT?! Seriously? Ummm ok airhead! A few weeks later we set up an appt to re-tone it b/c the color was just too bright. My older sister said my hair was fiery red. My 5 year old niece said my hair was cool that it's pink! Pink?! OMG! So, I show up to my appt which was made for 5:30 pm Monday on Veterans Day). It took me a half hr to get there and the dumb broad FORGOT! I got a cut here with Erin because of the reviews and I went in super excited. However, she didn't really listen to what I wanted and just cut my hair saying what she thought would be super cute, but it didn't turn out that great on me. I also don't like how she didn't really listen and just went with what she wanted. She was also distracted and left a number of times during the cut to talk to other people about what seemed like business. Finally, when she charged me, she didn't even give me the option of giving a tip, but instead automatically charged me for one. I've been going to her for about 6 months and she really cares about making your nails beautiful. I'm very figgity and always on the go. She does in a timely manner without feeling rushed. I bought the deal on facebook, which includes a hair cut and a deep conditioning. I got my hair cut from joey who works with ashlee. I would say, she cut my hair quite carelessly, and of course the result turned out not so good. I look worse than before. =( When I asked her about the deep conditioning, she said it was the "thick thick" conditioner she used when she washed my hair. Well, to me, the "thick thick" conditioner did not feel as good as the ordinary ones I use at home... I think they should not play with words to cheat customers. read more

I followed my hairdresser Kat here and am very impressed with the vibe and the ambiance of her new salon. It is always hustling and bustling, everyone is very friendly and the place is airy and loft-like, very unpretentious. Kat continues to do wonders with my hair, she kept me very happy with blond beachy hi-lites in my long hair. A few weeks ago I decided I wanted a big change and had Kat cut all my hair off. I was terrified of having shortish hair for the very first time but I am so happy with the cut and the manageability of my new do that I have not had a single regret. She rocks at color, her cuts are innovative and she really takes her time. She is also doing these really rad feather extensions now that add super fun flare to your hair. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! I gave it one star only because I could not give it zero! My stylist was Leeland and he was awful! Just awful! Please don't waste your money. He talks the talk and brags about about the twenty plus years he has worked as a stylist, but I guess actions speak louder than words. My hair turned out terrible and I have never been so traumatized. The worst part is that he gossips about other people and other clients. If he talks about other people, I'm sure he talks about his clients when they leave. I am sure the other stylists may be great, but I can only speak for my experience with my stylist. If you have to come here, please see someone else. read more
