My sister and I passed this restaurant often and we used to eat there frequently. however, the last few months it seems there's no cars there. We decided to try it again and it's just as good as it ever was! I wish more people would go there because it is a nice restaurant with good food great service and we really don't want it to close. I had the fried catfish and it was cooked to perfection. Not too crunchy not too oily. it was great. My sister had the Mediterranean wrap and she said it was also very good. Our french fries came out hot and crispy. They were delicious too . lemon rice soup and chicken and dumpling soup were both hot and fresh. Overall, it was a very nice experience. my husband grew up in Griffith, so we used to always go there. we moved closer to dyer and miss going here. we went tonight, and the food was fantastic. as always the best Saginaki and lemon rice soup. but the service was exceptional!!! our waiter was Sayvon ( I'm probably butchering his name) he was by far the best waiter we've had in years !!! professional, polite, down to earth, on point and called us by our first names !!! we will definitely be coming back Sayvon !! Good is mostly always great. Sometimes a little mediocre. The girls at the front desk who do carry outs and cash out checks are kind of rude. They don't say thank you, they smack their gum when they're talking, and just act like they don't care at all about being there. It's almost uninviting and makes the front of the restaurant look bad. The food is good, the menu is huge and could probably be shortened a bit to focus on certain dishes. The lemon rice soup is the best! The look of the place is a little outdated, but it's a diner so you kinda expect that. Management though, that's a hard pass for me. Dawn was yelling at the staff the whole time we were there. She was telling them she's the only one doing all the work, yelling at a teenage waitress about giving her 'looks'. She yelled 'you all gotta start thinking for yourselves.' At one point she yelled at a waitress for calling for her ride before her shift ends and was told she needs to wait UNTIL the end of shift before calling for the ride. Luckily the owner was there, an older gentleman in a suit. Seated up front in a booth by the register. I went over to talk to him and tell him how I loved the place but that manager is on some power trip. Customers shouldn't hear her talking down to staff and staff shouldn't have to deal with her treating them that way. I told the owner if I was a waitress there I would have walked out already. He was oblivious to the whole thing, acted like he didn't know the manager was yelling even though he's sitting front and center to it all. After I told him that he just looked past me into the void and ignored me. Clearly he doesn't care about his staff, just completely ridiculous. I made sure to bring my concerns to him loud enough for the manager to hear it. The staff themselves may not be able to speak up, but I certainly can. read more

Service was terrible. My order was simple. Lemon Rice soup, Saganaki cheese and coffee. The cheese came I had no plate and I waited 15 minutes for the soup which I had to remind her I ordered it. They were not busy at all. I believe 4 guest total. The lemon Rice taste was bland. The cheese was spectacular. That said I'll never go back. We had a party of 45 people they were well accommodating until the bill came they wanted us to have it all on one check . When suggested to talk with the waitress she kept cutting us off as we were talking so we just ask for manger being that several of us were mangers in good business in another state we were just trying to suggest a solution to the one total tab. Wow! I had medium expectations here. However I should have lowered them because we were severely disappointed. Our waitress had only been working a month and had zero feedback on what to order or an opinion on any menu item. We had to ask another waitress her opinion and she gave us some insight but nothing mentioned was in the specials list. We ended up ordering the turkey club and Jedi's dip sandwich. Tomato basil and lemon rice soup. However my friend asked for tomato juice and soup instead of a potato option and was told no. She could have tomato slices but not tomato juice. Why? I had coffee but never got any refills until I asked. We also had ice tea but no refills until we asked. Turkey club - huge but fresh turkey. However way too much lettuce. Jedi's Dip - bread tasted "yeasty" and a bit sour so that wasn't good. The beef was okay. Not all whole slices but bits and strings of meat. I make it a point to stop here when in the area. I have never had a bad meal while here! Tonight is no exception. The special was BBQ Rib Tips; they rivaled any BBQ spot I've ever been in from Southern California to Vegas to Chicago! The chef makes his own BBQ sauce ... YUM ... loved it! They weren't busy, in before 5pm, so that wad nice. The wait staff is always friendly and willing to give great customer service! Tonight, Levon was outstanding! Well worth the minimal cost. I liked how it wasn't crowded at all and it had a family restaurant vibe. It was clean and maintained well. I ordered the lasagna with a creamy chicken shell soup. The soup was pretty good. I added salt and pepper for more flavoring since it wasn't the most flavorful broth. It was enjoyable with the roll and butter it was served with. The lasagna was also enjoyable for the most part. I wish it had more sauce. It was soft and easy to chew. It was a pretty good size for the price. Overall, I would like to come back here to try other items. Went to jedis garden to meet with family. Customer service was ok. It was pretty clean inside of the restraunt overall. Although the tables were all messed up there are crumbs and things all over the floor. I got the spaghetti. it was the worst spaghetti I ever had in my life. This place is such a wonderful place. The people are extremely nice. The servers are very hospitable and that means a lot because I'm from south Mississippi. They made me feel right at home. Even though the service was exceptional the food was not so great. Those things can be tweaked. The lobster bisque was a bit too thick and floury. The upside to it, there was real lobster in there! That's hard to find. The cream of potato soup was very flavorful, many ingredients that complimented each other and I would definitely had preferred it to the bisque. The shrimp creole was a bit thick as well but not savory. The shrimp were way over cooked. Too much tomato paste, veggies need to be cooked a bit more and chopped a few more times. The perch was without flavor, the broccoli was overcooked and slathered with this weird tasting cheese. The rolls were actually delightful. The server was more than helpful and offered me several different dishes to replace the one I had. I had to decline due to other prior engagements. This place is a wonderful place for old friends, new friends, and family to meet up. It was very well maintained. I would only order a simple meal. Maybe a signature Dish. Overall I left with a smile. Lets just say I've been to Jedi many times. Too many times. Oh so many times. Their Lemon Rice soup is the stuff of legend and rightly so. The rest of the food...not so much. They do serve the large style steak fries, which is a mark in the positive column...but they've also developed some new scientific way to get them scalding hot, yet barely crispy...like they've discovered the perfect zone in the fry time for lackluster steak fries. Standard "Greek"/Region Diner fare....dry burgers, iceberg salads, hot meats on wonder bread with mystery gravy. But lets face it, you're probably going there for the soup and self loathing. Recently however, on a trip on a cool early spring day we walked into purgatory. It was around 60 outside but a balmy 70ish inside, with humidity resembling that of Tropic World Asia at Brookfield Zoo. It was like driving into a wall at full speed. A mule kick of humidity. One could only assume they were trying to save on oil and just cooking the steak fries by bringing them to room temperature. Then the service. Our server was obviously working part time somewhere else during their shift as other than a few brief visits we didn't see them the majority of out trip. Two soups, a patty melt and some chicken tenders took approximately 90 minutes from seating to check. It seemed to be a problem across the board...customers were shouting. One angry man screamed he wasn't paying for his coffee! A table of region delegates professed their shock and awe upon seeing Saginaki for the first time. How this is possible I have no idea. If you've never seen Saginaki you're either from Mars or Black Oak. A request for sauce for the chicken tenders went unanswered. Some other guests joined our table and the server seemed to not even notice, they stopped by to say hello....but you'd figure it'd at least get a glance. At this point I had to go use the facilities. When I entered the mens room there was a small child brushing his teeth in the sink...one of the other wash basins appeared to be filled with what I could only guess was vomit or Crunch Berries swollen with days worth of water. I couldn't be completely sure...but the sounds of a dolphin were being made in one of the stalls. Finally we were able to get our check. The hostess was probably in training to be an X-Men...because she spoke nary a word...but communicated our entire transaction through telepathy. Finally I returned home and scrubbed myself down like Meryl Streep in Silkwood and swore I would never return again. Until the next time. read more

Terrible management!! Our waitress just started waitressing for the first time in her life a month ago and was not trained properly at all. Three times she brings out the soup and three times it was cold. Instead of notifying her manager she just kept bringing out the soup. Poor training. When we were paying the bill I tried to complain and the manager told me that if I had a complaint I should've did it when I was at sitting at the table and not to complain now. She told me that she had been the manager for 40 years and they're still in business so she must be doing it right. This is a Thursday night at 6:30 PM and there's 12 people may be in the restaurant. Today I decided to take my mom & dad to Jedi's Garden Family Restaurant in Griffith for breakfast won't ever go again... worst customer service didn't even get seated because of the rude older hostess. The younger hostess was about to seat us the older hostess told her to wait the younger hostess looked confused... shortly after a family of three came in the older hostess sat them immediately.... I spoke up and said excuse we were here first she turned around around and said oh ok & told them to follow her... typically I ignore her rudeness but today was blatantly disrespectful... not to mention the other customers who were paying for their food also noticed... Jedi's do better this lady has also been engaged in arguments with servers in front of customers she really is the worst maybe a role where she doesn't have to interact with other people may be better suited. read more

I reserved for a party of 20 to 25 people. Had to put down a $100 deposit that was supposed to go towards the meal. People came early and they sat them at other tables. When I got there with my family other was 18 of us. We ordered it took forever for the food to come out. The food was cold and not tasteful. Chicken was bland even the kids didn't eat the burgers. I called from Chicago, on my way home, hoping I would be able to run in, pay, and run out. I get there and see not one single employee wearing a mask and read a large sign that says "Need a mask, just ask. We have to wear the STUPID things". Okay... I wish I had taken a picture of my food because it was so pink and raw! I ordered the fried chicken and it was served to me raw. When I complained to the manager Dawn S , she told me that the cook said it was not raw and was so rude . My chicken was very clearly raw and pink and she was so rude that I wanted to get out of that restaurant as fast as possible . I've never been treated so badly at this restaurant and because of it I will NEVER go back. The way that Dawn S treated me was so unprofessional and uncalled for. I will tell everyone I know about this horrible food and experience I had tonight at Jedi's. I hope they get read of Dawn S! What a horrible person and so unlike Jedi's to have someone like that working for them. I wish I could give them a negative star! My job has me out here from Utah and I tried the lemon rice soup and gyro plate. It was really good. The lemon rice soup is not overly lemony either. It was the perfect amount. Overpriced garbage. This place was the place to go in the area, but not anymore. It's gone downhill these past few years. Now I'm not sure what experience the cooks need in order to get a job here, but making a couple of eggs over easy, two slices of bacon and toast is so basic...I mean, how can you screw up breakfast?! I did a carryout and I received two overcooked eggs, drowning in butter oil. The bacon was dry and cold - The toast wasn't even toasted. I didn't even bother. eating it. The owners are always sitting in a booth near register reading newspapers, drinking coffee and talking all day long - every single time we come in here. Great place to get skillets and omelets. I also enjoy their saganaki. If you have a food allergy, however, MAKE SURE it is explicitly clear to the waitress and staff. Last time we were there, we told the waitress that my family member has an onion allergy and to give us the skillet with NO onion. Well, it came with onions and the waitress told us that the cook had the nerve to say, "It's only got a few onions on there, what's the big deal?" Well, the big deal is that my loved one could go into anaphylaxic shock and wind up in the hospital. We were seated quickly in a booth and proceeded to review the menu. We asked our waitress several questions and began to order. She could not keep track of our order even though we repeated three times. 2 salads and a shrimp order. She leaned over our table and closed her eyes in a long pause nodding back awake and asked for our order a fourth time. We thought she was on drugs and attempted to call the managers attention to her behavior. At this point the manager defended our waitress and said we were trying to order off the kids menu.
