Oh Jedi's Garden how I've missed you so!! Let is be known there are NO restaurants in my new home of Memphis that even come close to the realms of this place. I cannot find lemon rice soup or saganaki to save my life, and you'd be hard pressed to find any restaurant where one diner can feast on Mediterranean cuisine while another chooses Mexican and yet another Italian. I miss this place terribly. My husband and I used to come here quite a bit as it was very close to our house and if you know anything about Jedi's, it's sort of a "catch all" restaurant- a great choice when you really have no idea what you want to eat. Their lemon rice soup is fabulous, and my favorite of any of the Region's lemon rice soup competitors. I don't think you can mess up saganaki- and Jedi's is delicious in and of itself. One of my favorite go to items here is the country breakfast wrap with sausage, eggs, cheese and sausage gravy wrapped inside a tortilla shell. Another go to is the Mediterranean fritata with feta, gyro meat and potatoes all rolled into an eggy pie. Really, I've never had anything bad here. Is it the best restaurant in the world? Hell no. It's more of a favorite of ours just because it is what it is. You'll always get a decent meal and the staff is always great. The menu is huge and it is cheap. It is usually our first stop whenever we come home for a visit, simply because going 6 months to a year without lemon rice soup and saganaki is just plain wrong. Jedi's owners? I ordered a steak sandwich to pickup to go. No fries or sides. This was a thin ribeye for $15.95... Are you kidding me. Steak did not have any seasoning on it when cooked... The food was very good, my only issue was with the lady at the counter checking out. Both of us are seniors. I ordered a senior meal which comes with soup or salad, coffee or tea and a dessert. The person I was with ordered breakfast and coffee. I asked if she could have my coffee which came with my meal I just wanted water. But then She made a big deal about taking it off, and said that they would never do this again letting me know this in advance. I just left this place I live down the street me and my friend order Carry out it was a lady at the front that wouldn't serve us I'm now sure it was because we was black two different people told her that we was waiting to place a order she walked around us three times then told a woman that was serving a table to take our order as she stood there. I will not be patronizing Jedi Gardens of Griffith Indiana-EVER AGAIN. They fired a longtime, hardworking waitress after Brad W posted a review on 3/1/13. I do not know if the waitress told him that she would be charged for the cook messing up the food. But if the food is bad it is not the fault of the waitress!!! And Brad is right that if the restaurant is charging a waitress for food not cooked properly then there is a huge problem. And that problem should be reported to the Department of Labor. Shame on you Jedi Gardens!!!!!!! SHAME!!!!!!!! SHAME!!!!! Oh yeah and the last two times I ate there the food was HORRIBLE!! Good service, yes, but my review is about the food, since that's the primary reason we go out to eat, right? I went here recently on the recommendation of a family member. Nice clean decor, family-friendly..Mickey and Minnie Mouse were greeting kids at the door, pretty cute. Back to the food.. I ordered the pork tenderloin dinner - the chicken shell soup that came ahead of that was excellent - but it went downhill from there. Expecting a homemade hand-breaded tenderloin, I was instead served what looked like something from the freezer section at a grocery store - a very, very (did I mention "very?) processed slab of meat that was so thin it could have slid under a door. Dry, hard, tasteless..I only had a few bites. How hard is it to pound out a decent cut of pork, bread and fry it? The mixed veggies on the side were overcooked and way soft, blah. My entire family and I have been long time customers of Jedi's for over 15 years. I have recommended this restaurant numerous times to friends, family , coworkers , people I have cared for and their families. On August 4th I participated in Too Good To Go a food waste saving app. I purchased 3 packages from this restaurant I have loved for many years. I arrived between the appointed pick up times. I was told by the owner Tom Papadopolous upon entering they were closed for food service. I tried to explain I was there for 3 packages purchased on Too Good TO Go. He was extremely rude to my brother and I. He told me "the kitchen is closed and he don't care that I am there to pick up my food I purchased ,to come back tomorrow."He then told me "he don't know why they allow someone to purchase 3 packages that it is just repetitive stuff." I was shocked at the treatment I received at his restaurant. If he does not want to participate in this app then he needs to remove his restaurant . I will never set foot in his business again nor will my friends or family! I will never recommend this restaurant and I will definitely tell everyone my experience here. I have not had a bad experience here yet. We've never been to this restaurant before and saw there were two county police cars in the parking lot, so decided it must be a good place. Upon exiting our car, three nuns were also walking in. How could we go wrong?? Well, it was wrong. I decided to have breakfast and ordered the steak skillet with some over easy eggs. My gal ordered the chicken breast and a baked potato. The waitress told us it would be about 15-20 minutes. It's not busy in here btw. We arrived here at 5:15. Fast forward past the lemon soup and salad that my my freind got, which was pretty good, to the main entree's. Hers came as a dried out butterflied cold chicken breast soaking in a plate full of pea's and pea juice. Peas were never mentioned or she would have either declined or asked for a alternative. I asked for another plate so it wasn't chicken bathed in pea juice. Her baked potato was also cold. It got sent back. I was going to dig into my skillet and a dark hair about an inch long was sitting right on top of my over cooked eggs. Just for future reference, over easy means the yokes are not hard nor the edges crispy. We waited about 5 minutes for a plate with no peas and the potato and when it arrived it was the same potato but had been nuked. Cmon. When her food arrived I showed my food to the waitress and all she said was, "Is it cold?" Hello!!! See that huge hair???? I asked to see the manager and when she came over she apologized. I told her we really had anticipated a good meal, but this just kept getting worse by the minute. Finally my new plate arrived and I was able to eat. My skillet was just mediocre at best. The replacement chicken breast came back cooked good. But the baked potato was a dried out failure. The check came and they had discounted it by $5. I decided to just let it go at that as I was not going to let it ruin my evening. It's not about the money Jedi's. Get people that care about making a good impression. My first time ordering and I did a to go order. The lemon rice soup is really really good. I definitely enjoyed. I did order the Stuffed Pepper special, and just know that I am a person who does not add salt, I cook with some salt, but do not add extra. If I have to add salt to food then the food ABSOLUTELY needed it. My suggestion would be to have the cook add salt, it doesn't need to be an abundant amount but some would be helpful. Previously a frequent customer but then the service started to decline . Apparently the owner ( short lady with short hair and her daughter dont like black people to patronize their restaurant although they have a few token black people staffed. Whenever i come to place an order the short lady will scoff and order the black waiter to take my order. I thought it was an isolated incident but it has happened on numerous occasions. After today when the daughter did the same thing it solidified that this restaurant doesn't like people of color. In general the soup is great and their salads are pretty good based on surrounding options but at this point its not worth it and will be spending my money elsewhere. read more

Me and my fiancé love this restaurant. It was one of our favorites until today. We went in for brunch and even though yes they were busy it took 10-15 minutes for us to be acknowledged. Once the waitress acknowledged us she took our order he ordered lemon rice soup and I a skillet. She did not bring us anything to drink I had to ask another server for water my fiancé did not get his soup until way after my food had arrived. The waitress did not come to check on us at all did not top off beverages did not thank us for coming in but made sure that the people behind us were well taken care of. We spoke with management and as we were talking the waitress came up to us as if she were trying to confront us herself. My family and I dined at Jedi Garden restaurant yesterday for my niece's 18th birthday dinner. Her mom picked this restaurant because she absolutely loves their Lemon Rice soup and now we realize that we should have just picked her up some soup to go and dined someplace that has edible food!! I nor my family are picky eaters but this food was lukewarm, bland with no flavor, some under-cooked, some overcooked. My husband ordered the meatloaf because he loves meatloaf, what came to the table was a grayish-brown colored piece of some kind of meat like substance with a strange texture, the corn was simply opened from a can and put on the plate, which I honestly have no problem with but a least season it up before presenting. The mashed potatoes had no flavor at all, no salt, pepper or butter! The broccoli was rubbery with cold cheese sitting on top of it. Fried fish came out soft as if it was not completely done. I ordered the seafood platter which was supposed to have five items on it, everything looked the same except for the shrimp which had no flavor at all. As I looked around the table, everyone had the exact same look on their faces which was disappointment, mind you we waited over two hours for this crap. We had to ask for the manager two different times after waiting so long. The ONLY thing that was good was the lemon rice soup and the bread rolls. My husband refused to eat his dinner and had the manager take it off of the bill. The manager came over and made excuses about the extremely long wait time, blaming it on her workers whom she said were her family members and the cooks in the kitchen. At one point she told us that "they" should have put more than one waitress on our table!! I asked her who is they and aren't YOU the manager!! She said that she had just came on shift!! Someone dropped the ball and never put our orders in or forgot that we were there. Once we said that we were going to leave the food started arriving to our table and once we start eating and realized that this is the crap we were waiting on we were all disgusted!! I think the staff and cooks need to be RETRAINED!!!!! You can imagine how much money was spent with our large party! On several occasions we would get up to look around the restaurant to see if they were crowded and they were not so really there was NO reason why it took so long especially when no thought went into any of the food dishes. I will never step foot in this restaurant again. You would think that the manager would have offered some kind of discount on the bill as she was very aware that we waiting a very long time for our food. She knows that we were unhappy with the food because we showed her plus I am sure she saw all of the food still on our plates uneaten!!! POOR MANAGEMENT..TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DISGUSTING FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In September 2003, tragedy struck my hometown of Griffith, IN when the long-standing, all-hours Jedi's Garden burned to the ground. My favorite place in town for cheap coffee, great lemon rice soup, rice pudding, gyros and (let us never forget, folks) Mickey Mouse pancakes (compete with maraschino cherry eyes and grilled pineapple smiling mouth!) was gone. I got emotional every time I got off the Cline Ave. exit and saw a gaping hole where Jedi's once stood. *sniff* And then - Ah, a beacon of light! A new structure was erected. And after over 3 years of teasing me with what I knew would some day be a functional restaurant again, Jedi's FINALLY reopened a month ago. I heard the restaurant's grand re-opening was anticlimactic--there were no ticker-tape parades, no fireworks. But boy oh boy, was I excited!! Justin FINALLY got to experience almost all I'd told him about--the 20 lb. menu for this Greek Family Restaurant (which, really, Yelp, should be a category itself), the enormous, tasty and inexpensive breakfasts, the dessert display case. The only thing really different about the space (to my knowledge) is that the interior is updated and fancier than I recall (it looks like one of the dining rooms even has a fireplace!). I did have a minor disappointment when I learned that the rotating cake display was not restored to its original splendor--very saddening, considering that's where you'd find my younger brother and me ogling the tower of spinning cakes and pastries (that I don't think we were ever allowed to try). But alas, the food is still good, the servers are pretty much the same (friendly small-town waitresses, for the most part) and they still have Mickey Mouse pancakes. Even without a huge re-opening party, the parking lot is full and so are many bellies. Beware the after-Church crowd--it can get pretty packed on Sundays. My first time here and LAST. I walk in with my own coffee, mainly because I got hungry while driving.. Thinking no big deal I walk in with it, the hostess sits me and the waitress takes my order. After 10 mins the same hostess walks back up to my table and asks me to leave stating "We serve coffee so you can't do that please leave.." I asked if I can put it in a cup and she said yes (which boggles the mind totally why am I allowed to put it in your cup) then she proceeded to treat me like a child and still talk about me bringing in a coffee, how it was wrong and no one should do that.. Finally after about 30 seconds of berating I stood up and said enough I am leaving. When I left I tried to call and report her to management , she got on the phone and pretended to be manager ... She looked like a crackhead.... The menu was outrageously overpriced. I've been in Management and never was disrespected to the point of wanting to walk out (especially when the order was being made in the kitchen) but they were kicking me out... This place must be rich off the overpriced menu to allow a PAYING customer who orders 14$ worth of food (for a breakfast meal) to just walk out over a dollar coffee .. Ridiculous... I never cared for reviews because they can be lies, and never leave them. I rushed home to warn others of this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Les Brothers in Downtown Highland accepted me with my coffee, I ordered a very reasonable meal and ate minutes later and had a great laugh at the Jedi Garden expense... Thank goodness for business's without a hostess on crack.... Many customers bring in flavors to put in to water, and none of them get kicked out for not buying lemonade, Maybe I need to find a lawyer I could of been discriminated against for sure... read more

Ooof. This was not the cantina I was looking for. My lunch was comprised of a tired and expected side salad of iceberg lettuce, less than fresh tomatoes, some shredded carrots, and cucumbers. This is my favorite place for a big meal. This Greek restaurant does it right. Your dinner comes with a bowl of soup or a salad. Some dinners come with both. They have the best of the best rolls from any Greek restaurant around. They come out soft and warm. The soups are good. The food is good. The waitstaff is nothing special. They have poor customer service. Very unprofessional. The waitstaff wants to tell you their life's trouble. The waitstaff are not happy working there. One time I was sat near the wait station. It was terrible to hear all their gripes. I come here for a warm big meal after a long day. But I wouldn't pick it for a date night or anything special. read more

Not a good place to go to if they get your order wrong. you are expected to pay for whatever they give you and they will bill you more if you replace it with something else. Waitresses will offer something in exchange, then add it to your bill hoping you don't look. I was handed a receipt with no extra charges, to get told at register i need to pay more.. I do not think i should of paid for something that was offered to me in exchange for my suffering when my order was wrong. i cant even begin to write how bad their attitudes were at the register.. awful hospitality! and they don't care if other customers cannot take the smell, they will light up the saganoki right in front of you.. personally to reduce that vomit smell in the place, you should do it in the kitchen first.. there was at least 4 other tables getting ready to leave from that smell issue. i was going here for many years, but after today's rudeness i am done. read more
