I dined alone in the afternoon on a weekday and the service was remarkable. Very attentive, coffee refills, and quick and affordable. I ordered the Open Face Turkey Sandwich...a huge portion of turkey over white bread with mashed potato and smothered with their homemade turkey gravy. It comes with soup and a basket of rolls/crackers. I got the lemon rice soup and it was very tasty and hot. The roll was also great and served hot. There were a variety of crackers in the basket. The turkey was great and gravy paired well together. The potatoes were just okay, needed some salt & pepper. The portion was so large, I had to take some home. The restaurant was about 1/3 full at the time and it was clean and in good repair. Checking out was quick and efficient. If you are in a pinch and looking for quick low grade slop to go to just get a meal down this isn't your place. Ordered they say 30 minutes. I arrive after 30 minutes and end up sitting in a chair for an extra 29 minutes. During this time I got to look around and take note on how dirty the place was which made me think what's the kitchen look like? Anyway the order was wrong but I wanted to leave as fast as possible since I didn't have a hazmat suit and an another free 30 minutes to waste off of my life. If you are very busy I understand but your times for pickup shouldn't be off by a half hour. Don't waste your time there are too many places for low grade slop that you can pickup in a few minutes. KEEP DRIVING. When I arrived the parking lot was nearly empty. The same lot that was full at the peak of COVID. When I walked in I didn't recognize the staff as if the old ones had quit. Service was fine however. I deliberately ordered defensively. I had ham, eggs, bacon and sausage. The eggs were undercooked but edible. After a week of being sick I'm sorry I ate them. We ate Thanksgiving dinner here and it was pretty darn good. The service was good and friendly, even though it was a holiday. The helping sizes were enough that each of us had some leftovers. Very good. Its diner food. They had a good perch special on Friday. The wait staff is friendly will crack jokes and is makes the eating there fun. You get a good cup of coffee in the morning and good breakfast. They make recommendations and point you to the best items to eat if you ask. They keep you cup filled. This is a place my family and I actually frequent. There are somethings that are good and bad about it. But those things can be changed and usually if you ask, they will. The facility is a bit dated but it doesn't take away from the charm of this place. It is a nice place for really big gatherings or just a small intimate dinner. The prices are hard to beat and they do have some dishes that will make you wish you hadn't ordered them versus some you wish you had more of. Hence, the rib tips or the half slab. Fall off the bone excellence. Lemon rice soup. I used to like it but now I can't stomach it. Greek chicken is fairly good, the quesadilla is to die for. You just have to know your tastes. I will never put this place down because they have such a huge selection. Sometimes that can be good but sometimes it can be a problem. The customer service for me has always been extremely great. Walked into the restaurant and were promptly seated. Waited 10 minutes till the waitress finally came to our table to find out there was only one waitress and one cook in the entire building. The food actually was delicious but they shouldn't of seated us knowing that we would have to wait almost an hour to get our food. If they would've told us we would've left and gone somewhere else. About once a month, I stop in to get the breaded hot wings from the Purple Steer. Every couple of times, they mess up my order. One time, I had a big black piece of something in my blue cheese. Tonight, I ordered wings, but I got chicken strips and banana crepes. I called to inform the manager, Sandy, and by golly was she rude. She kept over talking me and telling me that she only charged me for what I got and if I ever came back she would just charge me for one meal. I explained we didn't want any of it, but she kept saying keep what we were charged for. I told her to lower her voice and just know I would be there to return all the food and get a refund. She had the nerve to say, "Well, your wings are ready and if you had answered my call when I realized you had the wrong order, this could have been avoided." Sandy, you have lost a lifelong customer by being rude and incompetent. If you hadn't been rude and avoiding us when we came to pick up order--this would have been avoided! the Melting pot is my favorite thing on the menu. Great filling breakfast and hasn't changed in years.

I simply love this place. It's a 24 hour spot I started frequenting nearly 20 years ago. Just moved back to the Southland and had a hankering for pork chops and pancakes. After moving out of area I always return here at least once when I come home. Have had pork chops fried in the morning and grilled for dinner. Big ass morning country fried with pancakes fills me up. Can barely finish off eggs with cheese and hash browns. Liver and onions very good like everything else I've ever had. Gonna try and move on to steak and ham if ever freed of my pork chop addiction. :-) read more

On Sunday mornings after church, I try to enjoy a nice breakfast...sometimes its coming home and whipping up something, other times it means going out...yesterday I chose the latter and decided to make the Steer my place for a bite to eat as I know the food is good and not that pricey. I was not disappointed with the Everything Omelette I had....very cheesy and had the right amount of other ingredients in it...and I like the fact you get the choice of toast or pancakes with it (and in some cases French Toast). Yes there is a smoking section in this restaurant but I did not smell it from my area. The wait staff wasn't bad but they could have come more often with the coffee refills. All in all a good experience as it usually is....not too crowded (got seated right away), and good food for a decent price...oh yea and bonus is they are open 24/7. read more

My wife and I used to frequent this location at least once a week and the service and food was excellent. About 3 months ago the quality of the food and the service seemed to get worse and worse. Last night we went there and ordered very simple meals, Buffalo Wings, Cheese Burger, Fries and 2 salads. It took 20 minutes to get the salads and after waiting for more than an hour we finally left because the rest of the food never came. The waitress was nice and apologetic but this was a horrible experience especially since we saw many customers of another color come in after us and get their food in a decent amount of time. On 10/30/2020 around 8:03 PM, I called the restaurant twice to make sure that they were still open. The first time I called they answered the phone and hung up. WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING. The second time I called the girl answered the phone, I then asked if they were open and the girl said "no were closed" then hung up IMMEDIATELY on me AGAIN. WITHOUT SAYING A GOOD BYE. VERY RUDE. Even if you are closed you should still be courteous to the customers. I hope writing this review and letting you know what time this occurred really helps them in finding the girl that was very rude on the phone because she really needs a customer service class.
