Used to love ordering delivery from here. They had an awesome delivery driver too. The pizza is great! However, they recently cut all delivery services, and now force you to use a third party. (Which usually means tip up front, and your pizza still will arrive cold a few hours later). Such a bummer that a local establishment that has been around for over 70 years decided to axe their delivery service and opt for crappy 3rd party delivery companies that charge you more money for the food and provide poor service. read more

Romano's has always been our go-to since I was young, everything on the menu is amazing. The Hoagie's and cheese cubes are my favorite. I moved out of state and have been craving it for way too long. The hoagie deluxe is a Region legend and even better, it looks like Romano's brought back the original fries! They have other great options on the menu and their pizza is excellent, but it will always be about the hoagie!! (And if you order yours without tomato, I'll bet you probably put ketchup on your hot dog too!) The lady that took our order was just rude! I would have not said nothing but when your child tells you, "Why is she so nice to everyone else and not us!" I place my order, waited about 40 minutes and when the lady at the counter came out from the side door, she just looked at us and said with an attitude "your pizza has been ready" and I was like well nobody called my name. When we got up to go get it our order was ready in the the back of the kitchen. How were we going to know that it was ready if it was back there I said. "Well, now you know it is". First and last time we order from there I said. Lady just responded with an "okay". My daughter could not stop asking why we were not treated nice like the others. I picked up a Medium Pizza with Pepperoni, Pineapple, and Onions and also a Hoagie. It took way less than an hour which is a plus. The Pizza was cooked perfectly with not too much grease on it or the box. The Pepperoni was crispy with the kind of cook that makes it curl. I loved it. The Pineapple added a lot of flavor and was plentiful. The Hoagie was interesting with a blast of Mayonnaise throughout and fresh vegetables. The bread had a nice crisp. The original Hoagie is back!! Actually, it never really left. Get yourself a deluxe because the coleslaw can't be beat and while the fries have undergone a few changes the ones they are currently using are pretty good. Also a Hoagie without tomatoes isn't a true Hoagie! (Just sayin). Their pizza is excellent too, so if someone in your party isn't up for the region legend, have them order a pizza. So why only 4 stars?? No more Sunday Hoagies. This really hurts. 90% of the hoagies I have eaten in my life have been consumed on a Sunday. They need to pick a different day. Our family has been eating at Romano's 40+ years. We were sad when they moved from Highland but they were close enough on Broad St in Griffith. Now they are on 45th in Griffith. I always get a ham hoagie and onion rings but tonight I decided to try something different. I went with the steak hoagie. It was supposed to be a ribeye steak hoagie. I'm not really sure what kind of steak it was but it was not appetizing and there was not much of it. The meat was over cooked and tough. The grilled peppers and onions were good but the quality of the meat ruined the sandwich. Also, the onion rings were over cooked and dark brown. My husband got the Roman burger which he said was good. The French fries were just okay. They were the kind that have those "extra bits" on them. Not a fan of those, the best are fresh cut and fried. When we called to place the order, the first call went to voicemail. The second call was answered. The girl took our order, repeated it then just hung up. Not even a thank you-- not good customer service. With all the restaurant competition in the area, I think Romano's needs to take a step up. read more

After Romano's moved out of Highland, I have not eaten there until today. The new Griffith location (on 45th St) opened recently. I ordered the Original Ham Hoagie, Steak Hoagie, cheese sticks, poppers and fries. All was very delicious as I remember it and hot. The person who cashed us out was very kind too. This restaurant has moved from Ridge Road to Avenue H (Division) and now onto 45th. I definitely have grown from the ham hogie I remember as a teenager. Basically the hogie sandwich is one piece of polish ham wrapped around too much pizza cheese smothered in too much mayo. I couldn't eat but a few bites. Best Pizza Burgers and Ham Hoagies around!!! We have been going to Romano's since I was a kid and they had the Drive-In on Ridge Road. We were sad to see it close. We're happy that they are still around though. We live in Merrillville now and drive all the way to Griffith just to get our fix! After hearing that the original Romano's on Ridge Road had the best Hoagies in town I decided I had to stop by and check it out. Upon entering I found myself in a quiet seating area with old movie posters from what looks like the 50's and music to match. I went up to the counter and found the menu and saw what I wanted to order, The Hoagie. Polish Ham stuffed with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. It didn't take long to prepare and definitely didn't take long to devour. It was excellent except a bit too much mayo for my taste. My next visit I will have to try their pizza. If you like quiet areas and a great hoagie then Romano's is the place. read more

Absolutely rude and horrible service. Try to get the server's attention because I wanted to alter my order. I poked my head into the doorway to see if I could stop them from starting my order. She came out it was extremely rude and said don't you come back here mind you I hadn't even crossed the threshold of the door and then she slammed the door in my face. Extremely rude. I called and called on the 23rd and the line was busy after 45 minutes I gave up. I posted on Facebook letting them know after 20 minutes there line was still busy.
