I was a little nervous when I saw the limited number of poboys/handhelds, but was glad to see the pressed meatball had made the cut as it has always been my favorite thing there. This was my first trip to Jed's. I ordered the gumbo and crawfish cake from the appetizer menu for lunch. The gumbo was a solid option--fairly standard with no okra, just chicken and sausage. It was not a dark roux gumbo, but it was seasoned well. The crawfish cake was one large cake, cooked very well. It had a surprisingly strong taste of lemon, but the consistency was good. My girlfriend and I live in the neighborhood. We've driven by it a million times, but finally decided to stop by on 10/20/25 at about 6:30pm. Not a lot of people working there.. 3 or 4 total on staff. We ordered a Caesar salad- it was decent. She ordered the cheeseburger- meh. And I had the hamburger steak- also meh. Both the cheeseburger and the hamburger steak were seemingly frozen beef patties. All in all we spent over $50 and the food was simply not worth what we paid. Dry hamburger, left off ingredients (caramelized onions were left off both entrees), and a lackluster flavor profile for both dishes. Meh. I had the Cochon de lait poboy. The slaw was very fresh but bland. The pork was ok. The real issue was the bread. Old, bad bread. That ruins any poboy. Even with fresh leidenhimers bread, I still think it would only be an ok poboy. I appreciate that they at least have a cochon de lait on the menu, but it lacked flavor. Service was great. Today was my second visit to Jed's. The first time was in January for dinner. This time, I came for lunch. Jed's has no lunch specials, and the food is hideously overpriced for what you are getting. Also, the food was just meh. I had the shrimp remoulade salad with fried green tomatoes, and my dining companion had a salad with a chicken breast. The fried green tomatoes were bland: no seasoning in the batter. The chicken breast was overcooked and tasted like sawdust. Inflation is making everything more expensive, and local restaurants need to be aware of this because people have less discretionary income for things like dining out. Any restaurant that wants to stay on business should look to the details particularly if they want to charge dinner prices for lunch. If the food is not consistently exquisite every time, people will not return. read more

Had the shrimp and andouille gumbo today, which tasted fine but 1)was about a cup of gumbo spread into a bowl for 11 bucks 2) had one shrimp in the bowl. My dining companion also ordered the bowl of gumbo and got one shrimp also, to about 7 sausages. I'd have preferred chicken and sausage gumbo advertised as such, to shrimp and sausage gumbo with one shrimp. Also if you can't bulk up your gumbo with broth/roux and okra, you are doing it wrong. My wife ordered the special watermelon salad, but when she mentioned the dried figs were missing the waitress said "sorry but we're out of figs". JED's has been on my list for a while, and with so many reviews from people I know, I hate that it took me so long to get here. I first started by placing an order through their website - this has to have been the easiest process and best laid out online ordering system ever. I chose my time, chose my items, paid, and knew it would be handled when I arrived. I have used other restaurants sites to order before, but there's usually a glitch or two when bouncing around the menu. Not with JEDs. Parking can be tricky because this is an older shopping center. The lot is rather narrow, and with a lot of the wider style trucks these days, just be patient and be careful. When you enter, you are instantly greeted by friendly faces. The layout is larger than I thought with plenty of seating and a large full bar. Someone grabbed my meal from the back and I was headed home. I ordered March's poboy of the month (ever rotating delicious and sometimes creative meals). This was a fried crawfish tail poboy. I also ordered a side of regular fries. I instantly noticed the bread was not overly toasted, rather, it was soft and did not fall apart on you. As someone who has a tough time with harder breads, this was a great surprise. The poboy was overflowing with crawfish tails. They were plentiful and I couldn't fit them all in the sandwich when i ate it, so i had some escapees. They did not have too much flavor though, so i definitely feel like they could have used seasoning and not just tasted bland. The fries were good - soft which is nice. My only issue was that I am fairly sure they prepared the meal well ahead of the requested time. While I know you cannot always get spot on, everything had a slight chill to it and the softly toasted bread had started to dry out a little. Again, it's difficult to get that 100% spot on, so it was not a huge issue, and i had access to a microwave to zap the fries a sec. I really enjoyed JEDs, and I am certainly looking forward to using the easy order system for take out in the future, as well as to dine in and bring some family next time. read more

I wanted seafood and this place kept coming up with high reviews since they've been open so we took the drive there. We got the Buffalo chicken poboy, bacon cheese fries, and combo seafood platter. Buffalo chicken poboy was chefs kiss from the way it was torn up in a few minutes by my hubs. Overall good place though I do believe the seafood needed more seasoning. Would not order the red beans again though. The red beans were not good at all, it needed more flavor. I added salt and still got nothing out of those beans. It had been a long long time since I had a poboy, so I was excited to go to Jed's! I was relieved to see plenty of options that weren't fried and a lot of creative PoBoys! We got the Grilled Shrimp & Fried Green Tomato PoBoy, Grilled Shrimp Banh Mi PoBoy, and Crinkle Cut Fries. The shrimp wasn't grilled on either. It was boiled or steamed - no grill marks, no browning, nothing. Regardless, the shrimp & fried green tomato one was fantastic. I loved all the flavors and textures. My boyfriend got the banh mi one, which he didn't enjoy. He said that the sauce had an unexpected flavor, but I know a lot of people love this poboy. Driving home from vacay and had a specific craving for some genuine Louisiana po-boys. Outside my usual territorial haunts in Louisiana, I turned to Yelp and found this shop highly recommended. Spot on once again. We had the cheeseburger poboy (teenagers!), the gulf shrimp poboy and a roast beef number. The roast beef was not processed but the real thing. Slow cooked and plenty flavorful even before the gravy is added. The bread was soft and malleable like it should be and they are willing to warm, toast or press if that's your thing. Been loving this place for some time. The first time I got the shrimp poboys. The shrimp were fried perfectly and tasted great. I didn't so much like the bread. I love a good french bread, but mine was a litte too hard which made it difficult to enjoy the sandwich. Add to it the fries tasted off and undercooked. Ive tried it 2 other times since then and the seafood is two thumbs up. I haven't tried a poboy again but the fries are better. The interior is very clean and open - seeing the photos from the New Orleans trolley riot makes for an interesting talking point and history lesson. Their menu is very nice and simple to navigate. Finally tried Eliza's "sister" (or brother is more accurate) restaurant, and I'll for she's return for more! First of all, everything on their menu sounded fantastic! I had a 225 coupon and chose to call in a takeout order. We tried the 8" fried shrimp Poboy, the 8" shrimp and grits Poboy, the fried pickle appetizer, and the cochon loaded fries. All in all, we were pleased! I'd honestly skip the shrimp and grits Poboy next time as it really was just too much. A plate of shrimp and grits? Absolutely. But add a Poboy bun, and just too filling with the double carbs. Not saying it wasn't delicious though! My children weren't crazy about it all, but they're picky so too bad. My husband and I made sure nothing went to waste. My girls said the pickles were sour, but with the ranch, I thought they were perfect. Next tine, we'll dine in to get the full and more fresh experience. Customer service over the phone was great, so truly no complaints! Prices weren't bad either. We love to support local. And who doesn't like a good poboy? Tonight I tried half a pressed meatball poboy (shared a large with another member of our party). It really did hit the spot. The combination of meatball, red sauce, gooey cheese on crisp, buttery fresh Leidenheimer bread was all that and then some. We shared onion rings and crinkle cut fries for sides. They were freshly cooked and well-seasoned, best fries I have had in a while. The young ones in the party demolished a huge brownie for dessert in a few minutes (it did look really chewy and not dry). The only negative of the night was not a huge issue, but one party member did not get blue cheese on his buffalo shrimp poboy--we were not told they were out until after the fact.
