Very low key location, but every entree is obviously homemade. Service is sometimes uneven, and at times it takes longer get your food than it should, but the food is always great and the portions are large! Every day they have a different soup on the menu, obviously homemade. Sometimes we will get 2 bowls for lunch and 2 more bowls to go - it's that good! We really love this place. Everything is delicious so don't spend to much time seeing what's food just pick something and get something different the next time because you will most definitely be back. My friends and I came in for breakfast after dropping our other friends off nearby (as they were running a marathon in Napa) and we were so glad we did. We sat down immediately and looked over the menus. We ordered our food and coffees, and our server brought warm cups full of joe as soon as she handed our requests over to the kitchen. The food came out fast, tasted great, and the portions were huge. The plates looked exactly like the photos on the menu. Within a few minutes of eating, we realized that we hadn't calculated our break time correctly and had to quickly put our food into takeaway containers and rush out the door. The staff were so helpful when we told them we needed to go - and we felt so guilty about it. One of them came over with boxes and the other behind the counter helped us pay the bill. read more

Goodmorning, my covid-conscientious friends. This restaurant is very nice to come and have a nice breakfast with friends or family. Very casual and familiar- it could be your 100th time or your first time and you'd feel like and be treated like a regular. I love the staff! However, I can't ignore the absolute disregard for the current global pandemic. 1. There is no form of social distancing whatsoever. Customers are seated within 2 feet of each other, and the restaurant is often at full capacity. 2. There is no lobby for customers to wait, so large groups of upwards to 4 people are standing- again- within 2 feet of our table. 3. They scarcely enforce the "no mask/no entry" rule, and customers simply just walk in and seat themselves whilst passing many tables without masks. 4. Tables are wiped down with a damp cloth to push the crumbs off- very rudimentary and practical, if we weren't living through a pandemic. I would love to give this place five stars, however I simply can't because of the lack of care for their customers safety. They seat customers closely, at full capacity, with little thought to social distancing. read more

However, the last few times we came here - although the quantity of food was more than sufficient, the quality was less than stellar. We visited this past Friday after much of the breakfast crowd had came and went. The service was excellent and we even got to sit in a booth although there was only 2 of us (they have rules). I ordered the huevos rancheros and my husband had machaca. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. The guacamole was definitely not fresh and neither was the salsa. I did not like this place at all. Went for breakfast and left disappointed. The coffee was like drinking dirty water (nasty and super watered-down). When I asked for a different drink (e.g., juice), the staff asked me what the problem with my coffee was. I let her know that it was really weak. She stated that she would try to make me stronger coffee...GREAT customer service! The coffee was still not drinkable when they brought it back to me, although, it was a tad stronger. As for the food, I ordered the chicken fried steak. Weird type of meat, layered ultra thin. It tasted very cheap. The gravy was not good...by anybody's standards. Went in for breakfast. I ordered Ham with biscuits and gravy two eggs over. Ham was the formed kind but actually really nice, tender flavorful and juicy. The sausage gravy was good but they tried to pass off at least one of yesterday or the day before's biscuits under the two fresh ones. The two fresh ones were fine, tender buttery and fresh. The one biscuit hidden Underneath was rock hard. I like your place guys but please Chuck the old biscuits. So close to a really good breakfast, just not close enough. read more

Fellow Yelpers have described this place as a greasy spoon, and if you're ok with that, then this is a pretty good option. It is kind of beat up inside and has that diner charm/anti-charm. On a Thursday morning, they weren't very busy, so we were seated immediately. Our server was super friendly, coffee was decent, and our food came out pretty quickly. Now, the portions here are HUGE. On the one hand, this isn't a bad thing, but on the other hand...it's just kind of unnecessary, especially since leftover breakfast items don't really keep that well (I mean, reheated scrambled eggs? No thanks). I got eggs, potatoes, toast, and bacon. Everything was pretty good, but nothing was really spectacular. The husband asked the server for advice on the various meat options -- as there is a wider variety than anywhere else I have ever seen -- and ended up with chorizo, which he didn't care for very much even though he does generally like that kind of thing. Huge portions, nice variety, friendly service, and totally reasonable prices given the location. We ended up here while staying at a hotel a mile or so away. The hotel breakfast wasn't very good the morning before so we expanded our horizons to the local eats. When we got here at 10:30 the place was hopping but everyone had smiles on their faces and huge plates in front of them. I ordered the Napa Omelet (grilled chicken, spinach, red bell peppers, and avocado) and my boyfriend exerted the steak sandwich. The omelet was huge with really fresh vegetables and a generous helping of hash browns - I probably should have done the half order for $1 less. The steak sandwich was incredibly flavorful. The two meals and two coffees ended up being $32 - a steal for a sit down meal in Napa. The only downsides were the fact that it took a while for our food since there's not a lot of people working. Maybe not the spot to come if you're in a time crunch but a great spot for a leisurely breakfast. read more

I have lived in Napa for over 50 years and have watched restaurants come and go and as such have become jaded as to what the value of the dollar is in local eateries. I can honestly say, for your dollar at this venue you get what you pay for and so very much more. This is the place you wish you had in YOUR town. Only open for breakfast and lunch they optimize the experience of small town, local Mom and Pop shops. The owner Javier was educated in the finest restaurant's of Napa Valley and decided to branch out on his own and taken all of his training and culinary education with him to provide the finest creations with only the freshest ingredients'. The service is first rate and the establishment is clean and comfortable. They also squeeze there own carrot juice fresh every morning. The size of the portions is always overwhelming to me and always provides me 2 healthy meals, 1 at the restaurant and one later at home. Make sure to check the specials board when you sit down. Our hotel stay doesn't include breakfast (!), and their cafe bar charges outrageous prices for the simplest egg dishes. So I looked elsewhere. I found Jefferson Street Cafe on Google Maps (sorry Yelp). It was relatively nearby, so I decided to try it. Admittedly you do not go here for a gourmet dining experience. But you do get good food, and lots of it. Other reviewers have complained of cold dishes, soggy bacon, etc. That has not been my experience in my two breakfasts there (and I will return for a third before we leave for home.) I had a build-your-own omelette one day, and their scramble special the other. Tomorrow, following the advice of a frequent diner, I will try the breakfast burrito. You also get the experience of eating with regular folks, some of whom eat there before going to work. I'm a people person, I like to observe others. I also found it easy to strike up a conversation with other diners both mornings. Try doing that at Denny's or IHOP. I also liked that the cafe has no need for background (or foreground) music. I find that very annoying at other restaurants. There is one wall TV tuned to morning news, but the sound is muted. Other than that, only the buzz of people talking. Most refreshing. The staff is friendly and attentive. My coffee cup was never empty. Javier Ceja, the owner and chef, was helping out in the kitchen this morning. He has operated this and a companion restaurant for 25 years. He must be doing something right. read more

I ordered the huevos rancheros and couldn't finish it, huge portions and the flavor was great! They even had hot sauces on the table for me to use (Cholula, Tapatio, and another one). It was only OK. This was the McDonalds of Mexican food. Yes, authentic for Mexico, as chewy meat and bland sauces are what is served there. Great view looking at an RV park-just kidding. I would say if you have a low budget this is a good place but two tacos and some beans on the side was 10!. I can get that at many other places nearby for $6. I enjoy this place so much, I cannot even give you a favorite meal, everything I have eaten here is incredible! My favorites would be: 1. Huevos rancheros! It is a generous portion, delicious homemade salsa, guacamole, beans. oh I could go on and on and on about this particular dish. Definitely, order it if you in the mood for some yummy Mexican breakfast. 2. The pulled pork nachos or for breakfast, the chilequiles! Pretty much nothing needs to be said if you take a peek at everyone's photos of these dishes. They are flavorful, it's a huge shareable portion, expertly made with the right meat to cheese to chip to sauce ratios. 3. Omelets! 4. Spam and eggs, having a Hawaiian great grandfather I am a spam loving girl! They make it crisp to perfection with eggs any style and some home fries, you gotta try this stuff it's salty and amazing. The food was filling and the wait time was reasonable. I had the steak sandwich and my husband had the chicken sandwich. I found the pricing to be a little high for a hole in the wall joint. The restaurant was clean but they could invest in some fans or some AC. It was so damn hot it there that I could hardly concentrate on stuffing my face. The Jefferson Street Cafe is OK. It's in a strip mall with a tricky parking lot. It's best to get there before the morning breakfast rush. It's a locally owned restaurant; it has the same owners as Soscol Cafe (but is vastly superior- for one thing, it's clean&the coffee doesn't have an odd aftertaste) The breakfast sandwich is good, as are the country potatoes and coffee. There is an array of hot sauces&ketchups, as well as newspapers to peruse. One can watch the news over breakfast. When we asked for a hotter hot sauce the manager came out and rudely said that this was not a Mexican restaurant and they were more like an upscale Denny's, yet there are "huevos rancheros" and "chilaquiles" on the menu which are typical Mexican dishes, ironic right.
