Bad experience all around. Food, service, prices. 1- Have it *their* way - We wanted a turkey melt but they dont offer one. Although they do have a turkey sandwich they flat out refused to add a piece of cheese to it. Just "no". And although they have a tuna melt, they refused to substitute turkey in for the tuna. No compromises, no substitutions. Is their food all pre-made? 2- The fries have a weird starchy coating on them, and they are double fried. Shocked and dismayed; I paid $98.98 for two omelettes. After patronizing this diner for over 30 years, I finally felt I need to go somewhere else. An $18.99 omelette, cost me $38. Apparently they charge extra for every extra item listed next to the omelette. The only problem is that there is no mention of that in the Menu, and the waitress had no idea. I tried to bring this issue quietly to the Cashier; but she paid no attention to what I was saying. At least the signs bragging about their win for best diner 13 years ago noticed us. Had to go to the host after we were there for an hour and a half to get our bill--server then ran over and started to try to do damage control when she saw me at the register, at which point I learned we weren't invisible, which was a relief. read more

The Jefferson Diner was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins... Their fame is well deserved. I came here with a group just expecting mediocre diner fare. The offerings were typical of a diner with a huge menu. But the food was excellent! I had the French toast special which came with French toast, bacon, sausage and two eggs. The sausage wasn't some shriveled reconstituted breakfast sausage...it was a fresh country sausage. And the French toast was perfect--slightly crisp, caramelized on the outside and pillowy soft, but not soggy on the inside. read more

Whenever I'm up this way I always gotta stop in to the Jefferson Diner. Where the food and the service are always second to none and with a gigantic menu full of delicious options to choose from you really can't go wrong with anything that you order here. Family owned and operated for over 40 years and rated one of the best Diners in New Jersey they were featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" show a few years back. There's even speculation that they were able to talk Guy into selling them his famous 1968 Red Camaro, that is so freakin Jerzey baby LOL!! Breakfast here is outstanding. The Scrambled Eggs are delicious and super fluffy. Bacon is on point. Their crispy shredded Home Fries are the best ever and I'm such a huge fan of that Strong Coffee blend that they serve. This place is a bar, club and diner all in one! It's very popular - so much so Guy Fieri hit it up a few years back. It's 100% a jersey diner when it comes to the layout and ambiance. Their food is very good. We ordered a mix of burgers, Nashville chicken sliders (the sauce on it tasted like Hot Grill's gravy - not sure if they mistakenly put it on but it tasted really good), breakfast grub and of course a couple of slices of cake. This very cute, 50's style diner is tucked away in a shopping area with plenty of parking. It is colorful, lively and clean. The bathrooms were a bit dated, but also clean. The menu is extensive. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive. We ordered Eggs over-easy with their hash browns, toast and coffee. The mugs were large and the coffee might've been the best diner coffee I've had in quite some time. It was a perfect roast, cup after cup. The portions were large, each plate served with a slice of melon which was a very nice touch. The eggs were cooked perfect and the toast was thick and crispy. The standout was the hash browns, that were well done, thin and amazing. The potato's are what I am thinking about all day. Now, the prices ranged from fair to expensive, but the vibe, the food, the staff and the time spent there made it well worth every penny. I've been to Jefferson Diner several times since my sister lives in the area. This time, Mary was looking to have a Shrimp Parmesan Sandwich which is not on the menu. However, they were very accommodating and made one for her which she thoroughly enjoyed. My other sister and I both had Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese sandwiches which were on special for $5.99-score! Although Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese sandwiches are found everywhere in NJ, they are rarely found in NH where I live now. So, I was very happy to enjoy this treat. Classic NJ diner fare at this spot on Rt. 15 in Jefferson. It's a big and bright dining room with plenty of booths and tables. Moderate volume music is piped in. Decor is diner stereotypical, chrome and pastel colors with posters and kitsch. The menu is enormous, everything from breakfast to dessert in endless combinations. Service is OK. Server was attentive but required a few trips to get the orders right. Time from order to service is super quick - less than 5 minutes. Tried a crock of matzo ball soup. The matzo ball is big and spongy - an excellent rendition. Soup is a little off...tasted like lemon chicken instead of just plain chicken. Also had a corned beef sandwich on rye... my diner go-to. Rye is fresh and spongy but is missing the seeds. Corned beef is iced thin, fresh, moist and very lean. Slathered with spicy deli mustard, this is a delicious sandwich. My only nit is the size of the portion. It's definitely not "overstuffed". Table mate ordered a salad with a broiled chicken breast. It's an enormous portion, teeming with fresh veggies, hard boiled egg and a plump chicken breast served slided. Couldn't resist dessert, eyed in the requisite revolving display case positioned just next to the entry door. Had an exquisite slice of rich and creamy cheesecake topped with strawberries. It's been a few years since we last stopped here to eat. To say we had "sticker shock " is an understatement . But we said as long as food is good , the stop would have been a good one. First off we both had brewed ice tea at 5.99 a glass. I had the chicken gyro with fries . It was small only a few pieces of plain grilled chicken . No feta and only lettuce tomato and onion on a cold pita shell . The cucumber sauce was separate in a small container with no flavor , tasted like low fat sour cream. Fries were good but gyro was disappointing We also had the large Greek salad with grilled chicken . We had to ask for the pita and cucumber sauce . The portion size of salad as large however we paid for it at 29.00 Also noticed on menu , no longer do they have any type of daily specials, that diners usually have. Well aware that costs for everyone keep rising however , Our lunch bill for a mediocre meal with 2 drinks , salad with grilled chicken and chicken with fries . Nothing left to take home totaled 74 dollars with tip. Noticed lots of empty seats at 1:30 in the afternoon . Very disappointed won't be going back anytime soon read more

This was my first time back here in a few years. Whenever I'm here, I always think of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives which filmed here. I started out with a delicious Bloody Mary. Whenever I'm not sure what I want for brunch, I usually play it safe and go for French Toast. I ordered that with some crispy bacon. My order was very good and everyone else's looked good also. I've been here twice and the food has been excellent. First time I got a pastrami brisket and the second time I got a widowmaker which is pulled pork and Mac and cheese on a roll. The service is good and the ambiance is that of a diner/restaurant/bar. Both times we sat in a booth. The menu is enormous and you should be able to find what you want. Rode out to the Jefferson Diner today. It's another one of those places I have driven past for years without stopping. Quick breakdown. Great diner vibe. Just the right amount of chrome and neon without being too tacky. Super friendly and efficient staff. I was there on a Sunday around noon. The diner was very busy but the service was still excellent. Huge menu. Maybe a bit too huge. I ordered a Florentine omelette. I find it interesting that every diner seemingly has their own definition of what Florentine and Greek omelettes are. The Jefferson's has spinach, feta and mushrooms. It was good. Perhaps a bit too salty. But nothing at all special. The coffee was on point. The only real issue is that I found the prices to be well higher than most other diners in the general area. A couple of the diners I frequent price their Florentine omelettes at $10.95. The Jefferson's is priced at $14.55. Another baseline that I use for comparison is the basic 2 eggs with home fries and toast breakfast. My regular go to diners typically have that priced at $6.95. At the Jefferson it's $10.55. With all that said I look forward to my next visit for lunch or dinner. read more

This had the old school New Jersey diner type feels to it. There was a glass case of desserts in the front as well as a small counter to sit at. The menu was larger than a typical diner menu with everything one could want including alcoholic beverages. The service was friendly while the food came out quickly. I split a Monte Cristo ($15.99), cold antipasto salad ($13.75), and a chocolate chip pancake ($6.75). The Monte Cristo came with coleslaw and pickle along with waffle fries. The waffle fries came out hot and extremely crispy. They were solid. It was a large open-faced sandwich with two large onion rings on top, which was odd, but tasty. The sweetness from the French toast mixed in nicely with the ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese. The salad had salami, ham, provolone, pepperjack cheese, banana peppers, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, Kalamata olives with olive oil, oregano, and balsamic vinegar. I do not think there was any banana peppers present and I would have preferred the lettuce not to be shredded, but besides that, it was good. There was much more meat than lettuce here as well. The pancake was tasty. The edges were slightly crisp, while there was just the right amount of chocolate chips present. It was also surprisingly light too. Will I go back? I recently dined at the Jefferson Diner in NJ, and I have to say, it was a traditional diner experience. This quirky little diner is a hidden gem, with a fun and unique atmosphere has the neon lights and the old school bar stool seats too! The menu offered a wide variety of classic diner dishes I had the French toast with a side of home fries. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. But the real star of the show was the spinning dessert tower. This tower was a sight to behold, it was a rotating pastry display case filled with all sorts of delicious treats, from classic pies and cakes to unique and creative desserts. I couldn't resist and I had to try the peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake, it was heavenly! The tower spins around slowly, giving you the chance to admire all the treats on display and decide what you want. It was like a dessert version of a carousel ride. The service was also great, the staff was friendly and attentive. They made sure that we had everything we needed throughout our meal.
