Possibilities are endless here at Jeffrey Open Space Trail. When they say "open space trail", they really mean it. It's a beautiful trail. Clean. Well maintained. Scenic and peaceful. And it seems to literally stretch forever. The trail is mostly pavement, with little sections of dirt trail. I used to train for a marathon out here, and I never reached the end of the trail. Mostly turned around out of fear of getting lost (and sometimes I did end up getting lost lol). But whether you are walking, biking, jogging or training for a run, this trail is the perfect trail for it all. Parking is easy, I park at the Cypress City Park. There is a bathroom right before you enter the trail, and I remember seeing another one along the trail. It is never too crowded, a perfect place to get lost in your thoughts and get some cardio in. read more

A little crazy how well maintained this place is. It's a 5 mile out and back trail. There's like three restrooms in 2.5 miles (including the one at Cypress Park), which is flabbergasting but amazing. Restrooms are unlocked by 7ish and are really clean all things considered. Couple bugs given it's outdoors, but pretty comfortable to be in, and it's well stocked! read more

Great trail! It seems like a very long trail too. Lots of people using the trail whether they were walking or biking. There are parts of the trail that is near the road but a good amount away from that too. For parking, I parked at the Cypress Community Park and walked onto the trail. There's also a bathroom here so that was nice to use when needed! read more

This is a really cool place to walk, bike, or take your dog. Jeffrey Trail has paved, wide paths, and has nice public restrooms and benches. There are also doggie bag dispensers along the trail. The path has towering trees, and cool history about the Irvine Ranch. It has pedestrian bridges and tunnels so you don't have to cross major streets for added safety. The trail stretches for about 4 miles or so and is a good workout. You can either park in the neighborhood or park at Cypress Community Park. There is Bag of Cakes and Mokkoji nearby where you can grab a snack or meal afterwards. read more

This is another beautiful and well kept trail in Irvine. It's 2 1/2 miles from end to end. There's either a tunnel or bridge at every intersection so you don't have to deal with traffic. They have benches and restrooms along the way. Its perfect for walkers, joggers, and walking your dogs. There are plenty of stations to get poop bags. Along the way there are signs showing history. You will see mile markers too. I didn't notice a parking lot. Today I parked in a neighborhood. Normally my walks are long and I park at the Marketplace. I take the Peter's Canyon trail and branch off on other trails until Im at Jeffrey Open Space. OC bus 167 goes up Jeffrey if you want to take public transportation read more

I usually don't review parks/trails but I was very pleasantly surprised by this one! My husband and I were looking for a place for a nightly walk after dinner and found this place on reddit. There's not a designated parking lot, but plenty of parking alongside the street by the park. This park is HUGE with multiple ways to walk, tunnels, bridges, and cool little plaques about the history of California. It's super clean with no trash anywhere with super nicely paved roads. It also feels really safe at night, there were still a good (but small) amount of people on Monday evening running, biking, rucking, and walking their pets here. This is one of my new favorite walking trails in OC! It's not very buzzy on social media; I found it by looking on my Apple Maps when I was driving under one of its bridges. Spanning a significant distance of northern Irvine, it's around 5 miles up and down the path. The bridges connect the path above the major streets (Irvine, Encore, etc.) perpendicular to Jeffrey Rd. It's a cement paved path and very accessible for wheels, runs, etc. You could park in the residential areas stemming off of the path. You could also park in the well-sized, free lot of Cypress Community Park. While it weaves in and out of adjacency to the street, there are beautiful homes to the right. It is well designed and manicured, with some small parks and sitting areas along the way. A very exciting part of it is that there are mosaics and plaques taking you through the history of SoCal and Irvine, all the way from Indigenous settlements and Spanish colonialism. read more

One of the very chill parks to walk, run, bike, play volleyball...anything really! It's also a destination for a lot of photographers and groups who take special occassion photos. For those who are here for the sole reason of enjoying some fresh air and outdoors, this is a really nice spot. The park is pretty vast, where you can choose any spot to begin your activity adventure! The park itself is pretty lush, lots of greenery and paved trails. There's not really any hiker trails here, as majority of this park is fairly flat. But...a good workout here nonetheless! It's also a pet-friendly park, so you can bring your fury buddies. Parking is along streetside or if you're near the park, it can be within walking distance. There are also very clean restrooms around the park. Definitely love coming here. read more

This is one of the best paved walking trails in Irvine. It's relatively flat but you can get a good workout in as it's never very crowded. Different paths give you different scenery. Some paths make you believe you're one with nature as you can't see the main roads around you but you can still hear the traffic. You can walk one mile or five miles, it's really up to you. The path is shared with walkers, skateboarders, bikers etc so keep your ears open so you can move out of the way. The path is lit at night so you can also do night walks. There are restrooms on the path and they are reasonably clean. This is one of my favorite trails in Orange County. read more

This trail is a bit of a destination for me but totally worth it! I love that you can walk the entire 5-mile trail (2.5 to the end and back) or cut it short and still get in a great workout while enjoying the scenery. I come here to walk my dog or stroll with friends, but there are runners, bikers, and lots of families along the trail as well. There's a water spout with a doggie bowl and drinking fountain in the middle of the trail, so I always make sure to stop here to replenish. I park at Cypress Community Park and walk from there, but many folks come straight from the neighborhood. If I lived in the area I would come here everyday! read more

5 stars for the beauty, condition and length of this path. 3 stars regarding safety. There has been an increasing presence of motorized bikes. This is VERY DANGEROUS especially because we do have elderly people and young children on this path. The path is too narrow for both pedestrians and motorized bikes. These bikers behave recklessly. I almost got run into. Due to the speed of the bikes, the narrowness of the path + reckless behavior, many of the locals feel strongly about prohibiting these bikes from this path. Lastly 1 star for the center bathroom on the path. It's disgusting/dirty. It appears not to be taken care of regularly. In summary, still a great place to visit but just be aware of your surroundings. Be safe. read more

Decided to bring the pup here and give her a nice walk. The trail is nice and spacious, you just need to keep an eye out for bikers speeding by. You should bring water for your pup - the doggy water fountains are flooded and muddy. I wouldn't trust mans best friend to drink from the fountains there. Visited this trail as a detour when we were in Irvine for the Pumpkin Patch. It was a very well paved and scenic road. There were a few bikers on the path and the space was well curated to include lots of nature. Good little stroll in Irvine. read more

One of my favorite pathways in Irvine. From Cypress Community Park, it's a 60 minute walk each way, making for a nice two hour round trip path. The paved trail is wide, which provides ample space for the bikers, runners, and walkers on the trail. I especially liked how the trail was away from the street traffic and with the bridges, we never had to use a cross walk. The green space is nice and there were plenty of people on the trail at 7am. read more

Great place to go bike riding! Went on a Monday afternoon and there was plenty of space to move around.

My teenage son works across the street. I drive him, and I have three hours to kill. I take my 29er mountain bike on the trail for a nearly eight mile ride. The trail is paved, and has a few very slight uphill sections. The are a few bridge overpasses that allow a good east-west view. You will see walkers, runners, joggers, dogs, bicyclists on the trail. Leaving the trail and taking the streets to Sand Canyon, I noticed that most of the push buttons for bike crossing at intersections do not work. I have to use the push button for pedestrians to change the signal to "Walk". Very fun trail. read more

This walking trail is so nice! No traffic as they built bridges over the streets and plenty of shade and places to stop... even restrooms. What a great little gem in the middle of the city. Only issue can be parking as the residential street signs are confusing. Best bet is to park at the community and start your exercise, but again this spot is amazing. read more

The JOST makes great use of the space in between the homes and street, with a well-designed walking and biking path that also pays homage to the area's agricultural history. Although being adjacent to a fairly busy Irvine thoroughfare is not great, Jeffrey does not seem to generate as much traffic north of the I-5 as Sand Canyon, Culver and Jamboree. The over street bridges that eliminate having to cross the street are their best features. There's lots of parking at the Cypress Community Park. read more

I recently, in August, discovered this trail and since, I've been excited to come back. Since I'm a morning walker and we had an offsite event in Irvine, I was able to come back Friday morning. It was wonderful. Parked in the residential area off Grassland and then walked the trail over the bridge over Irvine Blvd and back. What's cool is there is a concrete path and a path you can take on dirt as if you're hiking! Got almost 2 miles in. And the views are pretty; some Fall foliage too on the trees. Different than when I went in August. Lucky people who live nearby and can do this everyday! read more

A very nice open spaced trail. Nice landscaping, though you won't find many trees, so if you are looking to avoid the heat go early in the am. The trail is mostly flat. Most of the road is cement, but you will find a nice 1/2 mile stretch of a dirt trail option. This is a fairly busy park with people biking, jogging, walking, and with their dogs. Dogs must be leashed. There are bridges and tunnels at the intersections, so you can have a pretty long run uninterrupted by cross walks. read more

As other have mentioned.... I couldn't believe how many people were here with their photographers doing photo shoots. Literally We could not walk on the trail because they were blocking it with their equipment. There were others inside the bushes on top of the vegetation setting up their photo studio. There is no way that the city of Irvine allows this? There has to be some sort of permit needed? read more

I love this park it is so scenic. It's very Irvine with well maintained grounds, super family friendly, and expansive grounds. It's also fairly flat and paved - it's definitely friendly for walking jogging biking and rollerblading. Highly recommend coming here for a picnic or maybe finding a grassy area to take your dog off leash and throw a ball. We walked here for about 2.5 hours with our dog on leash which amounted to 5.5 miles. Couldn't exactly find the loop (is there a loop?) but really enjoyed the multiple areas. There's both a wide paved path and a narrow "dirt path". Some areas have full sun exposure with other areas have generous shade. I'll definitely be coming back since you can make this as long or short a walk as you like. There are also bathrooms which are currently open. We found street parking near residential homes. read more

DEFINITELY the SPOT for a picnic and a quiet good time. My family and I were able to celebrate a picnic set up madeby "Flowers on Wheels", that was far enough from people walking the trail AND beautifully lit up after dusk hours. We enjoyed a huge charcuterie board, martinelli's apple cider, strawberry water, and warm throw blankets while welcoming a fresh autumn breeze. The grass areas along this trail are soft and well kept and the sun hits perfectly against the set up to create a dreamy look and feel! Wow! We only took off our masks to eat and immediately after ending our picnic, we put our masks on and headed home! Clean up is done by the @flowers_on_wheelsca team We were facing the Jeffree Road traffic but it doesn't not create an abundance of noise that ruins casual chat or time. If anything the cars passing by after dark shine on the grass and faces softly lol A great place for proposals, picnics, stroll/walk with someone special, walk your pups, and/or a nice place to sit and talk with friends! I'll def go back for a special evening with special people. read more

Jeffrey Open Space Trail is exactly what is stated in the name. It's an open space along Jeffrey Road, and it's got trails. It's green and landscaped, very Irvine-y. It's probably a wonderful amenity for locals who should take advantage of a nice run through their neighborhood, but not necessarily a place you need to seek out if you don't live there. It's narrow, and although equipped with dual textured trails and some benches, there's not much to see except for some Irvine-esque planned landscaping. For whatever reason, I thought it was going to be more of a trail through nature (the name sounds so granola to me). It's not. It's a man-made community park, without the playground or picnic tables. I clocked in 4 miles without walking the entirety of it. read more
