If you're a fan of desserts (or even if you're not), I can't recommend their chocolate cake enough…read more While I'm not typically drawn to sweets, this cake completely won me over. The texture was divine--light, fluffy, and delightfully airy, making each bite feel like a cloud of chocolate heaven. The flavor was well balanced; it was subtly sweet, and not overwhelming in richness. The frosting is unique-It's closer to a whipped cream than traditional frosting--light, smooth, and creamy without being heavy (opposite of buttercream?). I usually throw away frosting altogether, but theirs was a perfect pairing with the cake. It's worth saying that as someone who's lactose-sensitive, I was impressed that it didn't upset my stomach at all. Overall, this cake was very much enjoyed by all and their cookie assortment is worth exploring too. I personally like the green and yellow cookies dipped in chocolate.

Below is the email I sent to Black Rose…read more I am so disappointed in the care you took with my cake order. A cake that was meant to celebrate my son's wedding day. The cake was scheduled to be delivered at 12:00. I had to take time from my family to call and inquire about the delivery at 1:15. When the cake was cut it had obviously been frozen as the butter had seized and crumbled when cut. This beautifully decorated and tasty cake presented as a complete mess. When the bride and groom cut the cake, chunks of frosting fell away. Ruined our pictures completely. We won't look at those pictures and remember that the cake tasted good, but what a let-down you provided for us. I am incredibly frustrated and will never trust you to make a special occasion dessert for me again.

We got a chocolate killer slice of cake of vanilla and a chocolate peanut butter cake! These were bursting with flavor and so moist and fresh with a perfect amount of frosting! A very spacious bakery with a very nice attentive staff that answered all of our questions. Ice cream stand was not open today which was a little bit of a disappointment, but we will definitely be coming back again! Definitely give this place a try if you're in the area you won't be disappointed!

They have many other amazing pastries, breads and cakes. I have never been disappointed. The staff always patient and helpful despite how busy they are. As this is also a dairy, they have available their milk. The maple milk (available in small bottles) is remarkably fresh and flavorful - highly recommend. Their ice cream is also available to take out. In the warmer parts of the year there is an onsite ice cream stand run outside in an old camper - charming! They do custom cakes and orders, handled in an office onsite. Plenty of parking. They also have a self guided tour of the dairy operation.

My hands bound behind the wooden chair, my eyes blindfolded, and my mouth open in a pained gasp,…read morethat's what this place feels like. All the machinations and trappings of a good breakfast diner, but a significant lack of closing the deal. Did the owner lose the spark? Did franchising kill the heart? The coffee is definitely coffee, the muffins were muffin-shaped, but that's all. In short, it was high school, basic, and a total tease. Just like my ex. It is a leave-you-hanging, almost-there, edge of an experience. I am certain they will earn my 5th star in due time, probably once they learn where the salt and pepper is, but until then, meh.

I think the thing to remember about places like this in this area is that there are lots of breakfast/lunch diner places but they call close at 2 or 3pm and they, for the most part, are a little pricey. So, let's start with the good parts: there are lots of food options, including many veggie and even some gluten-free choices, which is important when you have a family member with food restrictions. Their espresso is decent. It's a medium roast, so not as dark and earthy as Starbucks, but still pretty good. I've been here with family and friends, and everyone has always enjoyed their food. They hire locals, including many high school kids and recent grads, which I appreciate. Now, the drawbacks that made me hover between 2 and 3 stars... First, the wait time. There is no reason it should take so long to order or to get your food. There are tons of staff here. I don't know what's going on that it takes so long, but it does. Secondly, the tables and booths are not cleaned often or well. There are always crumbs, coffee rings, spilled water, used napkins, etc., either on seats or on the table. Even when people bus their own tables, which they do, they need to be wiped down regularly, and they aren't. The floor was sticky and "crunchy" last time I was there, and I have to say the sticky floor thing is a pretty regular occurrence. And, the last three times I used the bathroom, it was either not clean or not stocked. When I visited with my father a few months ago, I ordered coffee, and he had coffee with a sandwich. His food arrived with the wrong items, and the bread was not toasted, as he had requested. It also took more than 30 minutes. If they could speed up the process and assign one of their many staff members to continually clean the busy seating area, I think that would bump this up to four stars easily.
