It was our first time in and the owners were very friendly asking if it was our first time in and explaining the menu which was very helpful. So I'm giving this review after eating Lava hot chicken across the street for the first time last week. The food here was really good as I ordered the cluck and blaze with one hot chicken sandwich and an order of the chicken fries and got the coleslaw on the side. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy and the fries had a nice flavor as well but just for my preference I enjoyed the Lava hot chicken more. I highly recommend Rooster Roo. The levels of heat are on point. The hot is hot and the light mild is just that. The tenders are large and full of juice. They didn't over sauce the tenders and the dry spice stayed on the tenders. As soon as we walked in the staff recognized my son's shirt and made comments about it making him feel comfortable and made him smile. When we left we had great conversations and I will definitely go back. The only thing I would change is the size of the dipping sauce they offer. I tried both Rooster Roo & Lava Chicken, & Rooster Roo is the winner, no competition. Ricky's is my favorite hot chicken place in Dallas, but now I don't need to drive out there anymore thanks to RR. We've been eating Rooster Roo sandwiches at the northside in Rockwall for a few years now and it's always been our favorite. We were so excited when they opened up a storefront in Rowlett! Only downside- they didn't have any high chairs which was ironic cause while we were in there, there were 3 separately families who needed at least one highchair each. Unfortunately, they do not have mustard as an option as a condiment so will not be able to pick up burgers from them to eat in or take out when I am not going home.
