However $28-$30 a drink while the food is bagel bites doesn't exactly scream luxury. Love the whole concept. The menu's are books, each drink is a chapter, and when the drinks come out they are presented in fashion with a story attached. It's a dark lit speak easy with incredible remixed-chill-rap playing in the background. I tell everyone & anyone who's visiting to hit Ro, then Jekyll & Hyde right after! The ambiance is beautiful, the whole speakeasy vibe is well done and the room feels very elegant BUT The drinks are terrible. They menu is unique but unique to the point of the drinks not being good. Of the 4 cocktails we tried there were none that I could get again and one that wasn't even properly made. The white rabbit is a clarified cocktail and there were stiff chunks of dairy in it! That's not how you clarify a cocktail - it needs to be filtered with a coffee filter and there should be no dairy left in it. The Tim cocktail with bacon was ok but too sweet and overall the menu is very sweet. The experiment which is a cocktail where they give you your own additives to make the cocktail is fun but very bland as a cocktail in itself. Overall if they completely redo the menu it would be great but right now with the menu as is it's not worth it. There are many places with better cocktails in the area. Average cocktail is $30; that seems steep to me but I guess customers are willing to pay it? There is a $200 espresso martini listed - I'd like to know if anyone has actually tried I'd? It is a cool concept to bring to Hyde park and tampa bay. I was very excited to finally try it as reservations are a bit hard to come by with it just being over a month old. It is a cool how they made the menu into a book and how all the tables have a bartender who is the server who only have a couple tables and then goes to make your drinks. It is cool that they have so many interactive and different elements that are immersive with the cocktails to create more experience for guests although I didn't enjoy the cocktails very much. The decor and whole vibe is cool but I felt as though for the price point and caliber of service it did not meet certain standards that other speakeasy bars of this caliber have when I have traveled. Upon sitting down, they had rap music that had a lot of gun shot noises in it playing which didn't seem to fit the vibe and seems inappropriate in todays day and age especially with it being a trigger for people. Then the server asked if we wanted still or sparkling and brought out bottled Voss not letting us know that we would be charged $8 a bottle for it and there wasn't any other option. I personally love Voss but it is the fact that they don't let you know the charge or give you another option. The bartender was very friendly and well versed in the menu that they clearly have been trained well in how to articulate describing the drinks but I felt as though while we were greeted fast the service was slow and took way longer than it should for each drink to come when they only each have 2-3 tables to serve. I felt as though it was kind of unacceptable and a miss for the only food options to be four bagel bites and for the presentation of those to come in cardboard boxes it just didn't seem on brand for the level of experience and vibe that they are trying to execute and portray at Jekyll. I understand not having a kitchen but there are so many small bar bites that I have been to other nice speakeasies that do not require excessive prep or cooking that they could offer as more of a elevated finer bar offering for food options. Also, after the first time that the waiter poured the water, he never refilled it and I had to keep pouring it myself which didn't seem right for the price point and level of service that they should be executing for a place like this. I have no issue pouring my own water but if a place is going to charge and try to execute an elevated level of cocktails and service then all the boxes should be checked in all aspects especially with the level of thought and detail that clearly went into the planning and conceptualization of this speakeasy. The white rabbit was the first drink I order and even though I was clarified was not balanced and was excessively sweet even though I was told it wouldn't be because of the clarification that I had to pay for another half shot of gin to add to make it better. The second drink I ordered took unnecessarily long to come out and I gave only a few parameters and got pushback from the bartender on using a liqueur that I wanted that he claimed they didn't have yet it is in one of the other drinks on the menu and even if it was a batched cocktail it is in is listed on liqueur and cordial list meaning they can serve it as a shot so they have a bottle. To me this either told me that he didn't know what it was and tasted like so didn't feel comfortable using it or just didn't want to when that is what I asked for by name. After waiting for a while for the cocktail to come, he ended up not using any of the fruit that we had pinpointed for flavor and it wasn't well balanced but tart. It is a super cool place and everyone was very nice I just feel like in terms of certain aspects and service execution that there were a couple misses that I did not expect especially not when the bill was over $100 for 4 drinks. I have no issues paying that when I feel like the service, experience, and drinks are on par for that price point but I felt like it wasn't not quite up there for me at my first experience. read more

What started as an exciting new spot turned to be an underwhelming and disappointing addition to Hyde Park. There was so much hype behind making your reservation, saying the code word and reading through the elaborate menu. However, the service fell flat. We scheduled a reservation for a birthday weeks out and ordered one drink each then told it was last call, the desserts were no longer available and given our check all within 40 minutes of sitting down when they communicated more than once that we had 1.5 hours for our reservation more (and according to their website they were still operating for another 2 hours+). Extremely disappointing and overpriced waste of 40 minutes. Choose any other Hyde Park establishment before this one. read more
