My beloved pug Bella - had an appointment on August 6 which I haven't been to Aspen Animal…read moreHospital. It would've been her first visit, but since my vet, Pinion Animal Hospital recommended taking my pug to Carson Valley Hospital in Gardnerville where they sedated my pug, in order to take x-rays of her ear, which she was having a problem and they flushed her left ear she was coming out of sedation and crashed and died. What makes Aspen go above and beyond I got a sympathy card from them today and they hadn't even seen my dog, but have I received anything or even a card from where she died @ Carson valley Hospital or my veterinary Pinion Animal NO

Our experience was the complete opposite…read more We brought Buddy in because he had become lethargic and was acting noticeably different from normal. Instead of listening and trying to understand the change, the person handling our appointment immediately acted like we were being irrational or overly dramatic for wanting him evaluated. Her response was essentially, "So it's just behavioral? He hasn't had diarrhea? He hasn't been vomiting? Interesting." She then commented on him being nervous and suggested it must be an ongoing issue at home. That was an insulting assumption to make before she had even meaningfully interacted with or examined him. We were not asking her to invent a diagnosis. We were asking her to listen, take a significant change seriously, and help us determine whether something medical could be causing it. The whole reason we came to a veterinarian was to find out whether it was behavioral or medical--not to have it dismissed as "just behavioral" because he wasn't vomiting or having diarrhea. At the same time, she tried to use an old visit for diarrhea from years ago to frame Buddy's current condition as an ongoing problem, even though that issue had resolved and had nothing to do with why we were there. She kept framing the conversation as what we were telling her "versus what the computer was telling her." She then claimed Buddy had previously received testing that he has never had. When I corrected her, she said she might have been thinking of the previous client's pet. Another staff member pointed out that she was looking at Buddy's chart, yet we never received a clear explanation or apology. She also entered without greeting Buddy or even acknowledging him. I have no problem with a veterinary professional asking whether a fearful dog may bite. That is a reasonable safety question. The problem was asking, "Can I put my hand down, or is he going to bite me?" without first trying to calmly introduce herself, acknowledge him, read his body language, or establish any trust. Offering him Cheez Whiz was not a substitute for actually interacting with him. As the interaction continued, Buddy became more anxious and started barking. There was no patience or real attempt to de-escalate the situation. When I said we were uncomfortable with the service, we were told, "If you have a problem with our services, you don't have to come here." So we left. A nervous dog should not be judged as a problem before anyone has even tried to meet him. His owners should not be made to feel unreasonable for noticing that something is wrong and asking for help. It is especially unacceptable from a clinic that specifically promotes low-stress and fear-free care. We will not return. I strongly hope management reviews the inaccurate statements about Buddy's medical history, the dismissive assumptions made about our home, and the way this entire appointment was handled. IF ANYONE NEEDS A VET FOR DOGS WHO GET NERVOUS AT THE VET ASPEN WOULD HONESTLY BE MY LAST CHOICE AND PROBABLY STILL WOULD'VE HAVE A BETTER CHANCE GETTING HIM ACTUALLY ASSESSED VIA TELEHEALTH (Which should tell you a lot!!)

Pinion is one of the few veterinary hospitals in town that provide services for rabbits. I have…read morebeen taking my indoor rabbit to Pinion since he was a baby. Regular check ups, neuters/spays, vaccine, nail trims, and more specialized diagnosis are available for rabbits at Pinion. Bunnies are prey animals, my bunny is always very nervous when at the office. However, Dr. J is so gentle and familiar with rabbits that the appointments are as quick and calm as possible. Dr. J is knowledgeable and always answers questions we have about our rabbit's behaviors, habits, and health. Pinion is very mindful about animal interactions, so rabbit appointments tend to be on Saturdays when there is less activity in the office. I prefer the weekend so that I have more time to ensure my rabbit feels calm and safe back at home after the appointment. If you are a parent of a bunny, I would recommend Pinion and Dr. J for your health needs!

This isn't an option for everyone as I am a stay at home girlfriend so I was able to be with her all day long. Very affordable, reasonable and the staff is amazing. I am glad we came here! We had called around to multiple vet facilities in the area and ALL of them were nearly TRIPLE the price for the same kind of visits. For her surgery we were quoted nearly 10k at another vet clinic the surgeon here worked at. We could not afford that in any capacity at such a short notice(24hrs). The difference here is that the staff did not try to pressure us into the surgery. They let us come to the decision on our own(it WAS a hard decision as we want to give our animals the best care) and worked with us on what we could do! I wouldn't go any where else after this experience. 1000/10. All together, it was around 2k. We came in once a week, then eventually once every 2 weeks. Today she got her splint off! Yay! Thank you MVAH!!!

The calming environment helps reduce the stress of vet visits, and the breathtaking mountain views add to the serene atmosphere. Parking is easy and convenient. The first-time appointment costs $160 total, which felt a bit steep for the Reno area. It requires a $50 deposit to book the appointment, with the remaining $110 due on the day of the visit. New clients should also expect to wait a couple of months for a first-time appointment, depending on the veterinarian. The staff and nurses are incredibly sweet, welcoming, and professional. I enjoyed meeting Dr. Brown she seemed knowledgeable and caring, and she took plenty of time to address my concerns and answer my questions. During our first appointment, I was hoping for a more holistic approach to my dog's care, similar to the philosophy of Dr. Karen Becker (author of The Forever Dog). I was looking for guidance based on peer-reviewed studies around raw diets, nutrition, natural lifestyle choices, and all-natural prevention for longevity. Instead, after some initial discussion, the conversation quickly shifted to the standard recommendations for vaccines and flea/tick medications. I was a bit disappointed by that. After the appointment, I was referred to a local nutritionist and recommended for a dental cleaning. However, the estimate for dental cleaning, bloodwork, titer tests, and vaccines came to nearly $4,093.85, which shocked me. Because of the high cost, I decided to seek more budget-friendly and pragmatic options at another local veterinarian for vaccines and dental work, and I'll likely continue there to keep expenses manageable. The communication process also felt confusing and unnecessarily complicated at first. Everything is handled through text messages that link to the patient portal on their website. While the team usually responds the same day or within 24 hours for non-urgent messages, the back-and-forth and need to navigate the portal made simple tasks like scheduling the dental cleaning and receiving the diet recommendation -- feel frustrating. As someone who prefers more traditional, direct communication (such as a quick phone call), this system was challenging for me. Overall, it's a solid practice with great people and a lovely facility. It's luxury with a premium price for pet care. I especially appreciated the thoughtful welcome card they mailed to me with everyone's signature -- that was a nice personal touch. They could improve by streamlining their communication, offering more competitive pricing, and reducing wait times for new patients. I'd consider returning in the future with some hesitation, particularly if they can provide more reasonable rates and a stronger focus on holistic care in line with Dr. Karen Becker's philosophy in The Forever Dog. With an unlimited budget, I would happily go back.
