I felt like she did not truly listen to my requests (also loudly chewed her gum while she styled me), and cut my hair shorter than I requested. I made my desired length clear at the start of the session and also provided several inspiration photos. She chopped my hair about 3 inches shorter than my desired length and took off volume in her attempts to layer it. My cut turned out to be wispy and short. When I contacted the salon owner, Lauren, letting her know I was unhappy with my cut and experience, she only said "sorry" and defended the stylist. No offer to fix or remedy or anything to make me want to return to the salon. So I won't be back. Neither will my daughter, who has had 2 haircut there. Let this be a lesson to anyone thinking about visiting this salon: Choose your stylist carefully and know that Manolo's will not make any attempts to fix a stylist's mistake.

After years of going to the salon to for facials and waxings along with product purchases and jewelery I decided to get my hair cut and colored at Parks. I would think they'd treat their loyal customers a bit better but I was given a $275+ haircut/color (which included a coupon discount!), and then was pushed $150 worth of products. The owner knew I was shocked and not happy. I told her I take responsibility for not asking the price of a cut and color in advance, but usually its between $120 - 175 or so at other places and that's fine. But all over the SCV, I've never paid close to $300! She apologized and said she'd call me later that week for an event where they're offering special clients a deep conditioning treatment and blow out. I never got the call, and I never came back. I could have gotten over the $300 haircut and color - whatever, that's kinda my bad. I should have asked for a breakdown of all the costs in advance. And prepared myself financially by taking a 2nd out on my house. But the fact that they tried to offer a gesture of goodwill and never followed up on it? Done. Not a fan. At all.

Lots of detail below, but in summary: "Mania" Maya is not familiar with curly/wavy hair texture and I had a painful, demeaning experience as a result of sitting in her chair. This review reflects my experience with her, and not any of the other stylists/staff or salon as a whole. I booked with "Mania" Maya due to seeing her name mentioned positively in past reviews - I'd never been to this salon before, but was looking for a local Drybar-adjacent service to have my hair styled before an international trip. My hair stylist is located in Pasadena, and I wanted a closer service. I have curly/wavy hair - when I let it dry naturally, I brush it after showering but not again until I'm ready to wash it. I scrunch it up to encourage the curl. That being said, I arrived with my wavy hair that hadn't been brushed. Upon arrival, Maya asked if we were washing my hair (which was part of the service I selected, so I thought it strange that she asked). When it was clear she wasn't going to brush my hair before washing it, I asked for a brush to do it myself. I rushed to brush it which inevitably still left some tangles. Maya washed my hair and immediately began brushing it without applying any detangling product. This led to one of the worst knots I've ever had, which she readily insisted we had to cut. I had to advocate to work on pulling the hair apart myself, and asked for product to be applied. She did not try to apply product first, she did not insist on trying to preserve what we could of my hair, I as the client had to do this. I would've lost a larger portion of my hair otherwise. She tried telling me it was okay because it was in the back of my head, and wouldn't be seen. I have never had any issues getting my hair done before, and I told her this. She asked me if I brush my hair everyday, which leads me to believe she is not familiar with curly hair. She insisted detangling product would not allow the style to last (which may/may not be true, but clearly I needed some product). She lectured me on how to keep my hair hydrated, how I should style it/sleep in it when I leave it natural, and shook her head every time she encountered another knot. She later asked me how old I was, which given the context, felt condescending. As if I must be too young to understand how to care for my hair. She didn't explain why she asked my age. Honestly, with how long and painful it was to try to reduce the knot, I was debating on leaving with wet hair. I was dismayed. I stayed for the full service, but would have to be a masochist to ever return to her chair. Another note, though less important, is that I was never offered water or anything to drink. I heard another stylist offer a client this, which makes me believe it should be normal here. Again, this review is reflective of my experience with this particular stylist and is not a reflection of any others. I cannot recommend Maya.

Somehow she made it look like I had twice the amount of hair, and it lasted flawlessly all night. On my way out, I asked about getting false eyelashes, and Mia was able to squeeze me in (lifesaver!). She picked the perfect lashes, then went above and beyond by doing my brows and eyeliner too. Everything looked perfect and really pulled my whole look together. I'm not the kind of girl to get nails done ever, but was going to Vegas and needed to look fierce. I thought I would take them off after Vegas but I ended up getting balanced and filled after almost 3 weeks and they look even better! She's got me addicted! Her salon is very private and quiet, clean and relaxing which is so unlike most salons. She's also super sweet and easy to talk to which makes the whole salon experience so much better. And to top it all off, her pricing is beyond fair. Overall, she's my new girl to make me feel beautiful!!
