I had a good experience at this Jeni's location in Capitol Hill. If you're familiar with the Jeni's ice cream shop brand, this one falls in line with the others. The ice cream is sweet and smooth. Jeni's specializes in scratch-made, small batch ice cream. My only gripe with Jeni's is their most popular ice cream flavors are elusive. I've visited multiple Jeni's locations on multiple occasions, and still have not tried some of their most popular flavors; some of which are no longer in production. I've learned to temper my expectations and take the ice cream shop for what it is: an opportunity to satisfy my sweet tooth. Overall, a good experience and ice cream option in Capitol Hill.

Oddly, this chain closed in Navy Yard and moved a few blocks up the road. Maybe this location gets more foot traffic. Their list of flavors keeps expanding, and while their conventional ice cream is high quality, their commitment to non-dairy options is notable. It's not a handful of sorbets, it's quite a bit. I somewhat unintentionally ended up with 2/3 vegan flavors in my chocolate and mint extravaganza, and while I declined to pay more for a delicious, buttery cone, their default option is still to give you a piece of cone as a garnish. It's a Midwestern brand and I wish DC's native ice cream scene offered more, but it's well worth the price to come here.

Who doesn't love Ice Cream for Breakfast Day?! Great offerings of limited time flavors like their maple soaked pancakes and house coffee for those who want traditional breakfast flavors. The maple soaked pancakes tastes just like it sounds - very good! Love their patience and encouragement to try samples to help decide on flavors. I especially liked their Tropical Bloom limited flavor - the tartness of passionfruit was on point! They kept the line moving and had fun coloring activities for the kids at heart!

Love love love this place if you were looking for plain vanilla or plain chocolate, this is not your place for ice cream. However, if you want exceptional crafty ice cream that is fresh and light creative and delicious. And this is your place. The service is impeccable and it has great ambience. You may eat your ice cream in the store or take it to Go either way you will not be disappointed.

Jeni's is one of my favorites in DC! They have multiple locations across the city and are always adding new flavors. All the ice cream is homemade too. My favorite flavors are Double Dough (basically cookie dough without the chips), Dulce de leche (seasonal), and Birthday cake. All the locations have indoor seating & private restrooms as well. Parking can be tricky so I'd recommend taking the metro when possible.

Stopped in to Jeni's on a whim, but it was a great afternoon pick-me-up. I was a little bummed they didn't have a classic fruit sorbet, but the vegan lemon curd option was AMAZING. So good! There was also a vegan chocolate option, but it was very rich. Quick service and plenty of seating.

I love the unique flavors here. I don't have Jeni's often, so I enjoy seeing new seasonal flavors each time I go. I sampled the watermelon taffy, which was surprisingly really tasty! Ultimately I went with the Double Dough and Salted Peanut Butter, and was very happy with those. Service was good, and there is plenty of seating to enjoy your treat inside or outside.

Such a great ice cream spot! Service was absolutely amazing, employees were so nice and helpful! A great atmosphere with lots of seating! There were so many different unique flavors and the ones my group tried were all delicious! 10/10 recommend!

    Ice cream for breakfast!

Today was a special event. It was have ice cream for breakfast day. This event occurs on a yearly basis and they open nice and early so you can come in and get ice cream for breakfast. The menu has four custom breakfast ice cream pairings. The ice cream in general is very niche and high-quality. The pairings were breakfast type ice cream flavors such as coffee ice cream. The staff is very friendly place very clean with an open layout. If you've never been to Jenny, this is a place you must try for different ice creams

Jeni's ice creams are splendid indeed! We walked by around 5:30P and all the customers lined up for ice cream during the dinner hour really spoke volumes. In addition to their classic flavors, they featured four specialty ones, a couple marked "limited-time" and also one dairy-free. I love how they automatically include two half-scoops in a single serving so that you can always try more than one flavor. They are speaking my language! The price of $7.15 for the two half-scoops is on the pricier side for ice cream, but I found it well worth it... so much so that we visited twice in one week. + COFFEE w/ CREAM & SUGAR: I loved this one which had little bean specks and a robust natural coffee flavor. If a shop has coffee ice cream, I normally get it and this is one of the best I've had. + GOOEY BUTTER CAKE: So so good! Cream cheese ice cream was swirled with sweet caramel-butterscotch sauce and cubes of vanilla cake. The cream cheese base was one-of-a-kind and I enjoyed the chew of the slightly frozen cake pieces. This one sounds like it would be super sweet, but it was just right. + DARKEST CHOCOLATE: With a deep cocoa flavor, any fan of dark chocolate would be impressed with its decadence and clean finish. Plus, it would pair nicely with many of the other flavors. + BROWN BUTTER ALMOND BRITTLE: Buttercream ice cream with crushed brown butter almond candy. The brittle added a crunch and I was pleased to find it wasn't the type that gets all stuck in your teeth. This is apparently their rendition of Butter Pecan and let me just say, I'll take almonds over pecans any day! Jeni's prides themselves on the ice cream's texture and melt factor. Each flavor I had was so creamy, rich and smooth. Ahhh, I am still dreaming about them!

This is my favorite Jeni's in DC! The ice cream is always the perfect consistency (unlike U Street, which sometimes messes up the temperature and gives it freezer burn), the staff are all super nice, the scoops are generous, and the flavors are delicious. I tried their popcorn brittle seasonal flavor, which tasted like buttery popcorn in the best way, and their new dark cocoa cherry flavor, which was rich and just a little bitter. Of all the many ice cream chains that have set up in DC, this is one of my favorites for the combination of creative flavors, good service, right storage, and my preferred creamy texture. Van Leeuwen just misses on flavor and texture for me, the staff/lack of customer friendliness at Malai is horrible and undercuts their ice cream quality, and Ice Cream Jubilee is freezer burnt every time at every location. Some of the Jeni's seasonal flavors can be hit or miss, but I appreciate that they get out there with flavor ideas, and the classics (salty caramel, darkest chocolate, salted peanut butter, etc.) are consistently great. I appreciate that they have a lot of (actually good) dairy- and gluten-free options as well for those who need them.

I was super excited to try this place as I LOVE ice cream, especially the burnt orange creamsicle flavor! The service was fantastic, and they allowed my group to test out various ice cream flavors. All our questions were answered promptly, and we never felt rushed. My cone was amazing! The only downside is the limited table seating. There is one huge table, and I think 2-3 small tables inside, along with a SUPER long bench. Unfortunately, another party occupied the big table, so my group had to sit at the bench, which made it a bit difficult for us all to have a group conversation since we were side by side. Nevertheless, I'd definitely be back for another cone--plus perfect photo op for social media!

I happended up this place after eating in a resturant next door. My daughter was familar with Jeni's and raved about it, so I had to go in an try. Tamia was the ice cream expert in the store that day and I call her an expert because she knew everything about the 10 flavors I tried. She knew every single flavor profile, which was impressive. Her absoulte enthusiam for these flavors was infectious. I finally settled on the sno cone flavor which really tasted like an atomic popsicle and was more of a sorbet. Totally delish! Jeni's will definetly see me again if I'm in the area. Thanks Tamia for providing such a wonderful experience for this first timer :)

    Yum!! Amazing flavors.

We walked up and tried to find line, asked a couple people, and were basically told there were two lines. So I got in the shortest one, of course! Right before I got to the counter to order the employee says to me "You are not in line. They are not in line," as if trying to call us out and shame us like we cut in line. We definitely didn't--and definitely didn't do it intentionally if we did. After that, I said "no thanks, we don't want anything. I don't appreciate being treated that way." I was sad to not get ice cream and even sadder to be treated so poorly. Owner Jason apparently overheard and came and talked to us as we left. I explained the situation and he agreed the line was confusing. He offered me and my friend ice cream cones on the house and I was not only incredibly grateful to be validated about the line, but also grateful to see how much this owner cares about his customer's experiences. Ice cream was great. And the concern about our experience was even better! Thank you Jason!!

When I branch out, the other flavors are good, but this is my favorite. Service: slow AF. We pulled up last weekend and the line was out the door. Only one employee was working and she was pretty slow. It took about 25 minutes to get a couple scoops. Portions: it's very interesting how the pricing is set up between one flavor and two flavors. And what I found, is that the scoop sizes are really inconsistent. It makes sense that they would be slightly inconsistent, but I got two flavors and there was about as much ice cream in mine as there was in my friends, smaller, one flavor cup. However, when someone was asking for clarification, the employee explained that it was two scoops. Anyway, as a whole of ice cream is good and I'll keep coming back for that reason. I just want them to be staffed properly. What I don't love is that people hop in, grab ice cream from the freezer, cut the line and get checked out, while making people waiting in line wait. It's unfair and annoying, especially when you're just waiting for a couple scoops.

My friend who used to live in Baltimore told me her and her mom loved Pitango. She is gluten-free and pretty much all of their gelatos are gluten free. The person who was working there was extremely kind and let us try whatever wanted. I tried the dark chocolate and bacio flavors and ended up choosing those as my gelato for the evening. The smallest cup was a regular and came out to able $9 with tip. There was a lot of seating options outside. I'd recommend this spot for a sweet treat.

All of them, including and almond nougat creation that was new to me, a bitter chocolate sorbetto, and a kiwi flavor with little fruit pieces, delivered amply on flavor. The price was more eye-watering than mouthwatering. I suppose it's both a premium location and premium quality, but that was a small cup for over $10. As an occasional indulgence, I do recommend it, and given that it's a Baltimore brand whose original location is near the water, there's something appropriate about it being on the wharf.
