You want the scoop?! Well, this place is an authentic Black woman owned business!…read more I'm a first time customer here to say that this place has won me over! Very helpful staff, cute ice parlor vibes and decor..what's not to like! First, I can only indulge in dairy free products so while the selections here were few, the choice that I made was surprisingly shocking-all cashew milk are not enjoyable lol. I ordered the raspberry cheesecake ice cream and honey, after one bite, I thought that I was eating dairy because it was THAT creamy and good! Filled with flavor and delicious to the last drop, I thoroughly enjoyed it on a sugar cone. But here is where I laugh to myself because I sat outside, enjoyed a delicious ice cream and decided to then try a patty lol yes! I ordered one of the curry chicken patty and as a native Island gal, this place knows how to blend their flavors. Those patties were buttery soft and filled with flavor inside-ENJOYED IT! Would I return? YES! I do hope that they expand their vegan flavors but yes yes yes! It's hot in the District, stop by local and enjoy a well deserved treat.

Despite the shop being small they have a large variety of options for you. This includes ice cream, brownies, cookies, pound cakes, ice cream and my all time favorite banana pudding. I've had a lot of banana pudding in my lifetime so for this to be my favorite says something (don't tell my grandma I told you that lol). I even love that they offer single serving banana pudding in the perfect size container so that you can enjoy without over indulging. Check out Here's the Scoop, it's right next to the historical Howard University. You will not be disappointed and may just end up spending $20+ every single time you go because it's that good. Support this Black owned and women owned business :)

I first fell in love with Mount Desert…read moreIsland Ice Cream while visiting Acadia National Park, so imagine my excitement when I learned this Maine classic had made its way all the way to Mount Pleasant DC! They have a great list of unique rotating flavors, and it's always fun to come back to try out their new seasonal releases. A few of my favorites over the years have been their hibiscus sorbet -- a delightful dairy-free addition to their Hispanic Heritage Month flavors that is the perfect balance of tangy and sweet -- the cinnamon cardamom -- a super spiced ice cream that, despite being freezing cold, feels like you're about to drink a warm beverage -- and blueberry sour cream crumble. When I'm feeling less adventurous, they also have a really solid strawberry ice cream that uses real berries (none of that artificial nonsense you see in grocery stores) with a delightful fruity, slightly tangy flavor. There's usually a pretty long line, but it moves quite quickly since they don't allow samples. It's also a small space that gets crowded pretty easily, so I'd recommend taking your ice cream to go and enjoying it as you walk around Mt Pleasant or on the benches just below the entrance to Mount Desert.

There was a decent amount of outdoor seating as well as a little indoor seating. A single scoop was $6 and a triple $9, so you're better off getting a triple to split with your friends if you're comfortable with it. I had the black sesame and my friends got chocolate and kulfi. The black sesame was really nutty and pretty good. The kulfi was rich and full of nuts and cardamom, absolutely delicious. The chocolate was pretty average. I knocked off a star because this place doesn't do flavor testing, which I deem is a must for ice cream places, especially ones with odd flavors.

I can't thank my friend enough for telling me about this ice cream. It has been around for years,…read morebut somehow I never heard about it. When I stopped by, it was raining heavy, but the walk from the metro was totally worth it. I stepped inside, heard some great R&B jams playing, and I made my way to work that amazing smell was coming from. Along the way, I passed some cute merch -- insulated bags and more. And then there was a freezer with all of their pints, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cakes. I got up to where the scoops are being served, and there was a very helpful sign next to it with all of the descriptions. I appreciate it the thorough breakdown of what has allergens, what has dairy, and what is vegan. I pretty much tried everything. My favorites were the vegan ones (spiced peanut crunch, tamarind spice), the spiced date cake, saffron pistachio, mangos & cream, black forest... I could keep going. I split a generous scoop of the spiced date cake & saffron pistachio and it was divine. I could've gotten some cool toppings too, but decided not to. It was $8 as is XD. It's definitely a splurge, but a unique flavor profile like this I think it's totally worth it. The pints are $12, which also isn't bad for something this unique imo. I'll be back to get some pints. It's awesome that it's in Brooklyn too, so my sister can explore it as well.

I was so excited, in fact, that I waited in line on opening day. While the flavors were indeed exciting, I found the flavor to be muted. I was picturing intense Indian spice that hits you in the face, only to be confronted with very mild flavor. I've been a few times since opening, and I think it's fine, but it doesn't live up to expectations. I've found the soft serve to be better than the hard ice cream, but it almost has too creamy of a texture. The yogurt soft serve flavor with cardamom was the best thing I've tasted there. The ambiance is fine, there is a small patio for warm days. The last time I was there the inside smelled like sewage, eeek!

All good things! 1. Appearance of the Venue This spot has a really cool, old-school ice cream parlor vibe. It feels traditional, welcoming and exactly what you want a neighborhood ice cream shop. 2. Service The service here was great and very friendly. We were traveling in a large group, and the staff was able to accommodate all of us in a very timely manner. Which we really appreciated since we were on our way to a destination and had other family members meeting us at the metro station. Thanks to their quick service, we didn't keep anyone waiting. 3. The Ice Cream As a Wisconsinite, I am a bit of an ice cream and custard snob being from the dairy state! While it doesn't quite match up to Wisconsin's Custard (IYKYK), I will say it was good ice cream and definitely tasted better than some I've had in other states. This made the spontaneous stop worth it. They offer several fantastic flavors of hand dipped ice cream. I ordered the salted caramel in a cake cone. The ice cream was really good. It was rich and flavorful. Not too salty either. It is wonderful to find a great local spot while traveling as I always love supporting small businesses. Here you go asking me again, will I return? Yes! The ice cream was really good plus the service was fast and friendly.
