Jenny Kim is amazing! I highly recommend her for alterations and design! She is highly skilled and has an amazing eye for detail. Her expertise and years of experience are evident in her exceptional work. My sister and I both brought our wedding gowns to her for alteration and were so impressed with the entire process and end result. We are both petite and our gowns required more than just a hem. She was able to figure out how to alter the gowns so they looked like they were made for us! She also went above and beyond to design a bow for my gown-which I wasn't sure was possible given that I didn't have the original fabric of the gown and wasn't sure if I could get it in time. She quickly came up with a design (and even had the fabric for it) that worked beautifully! The bow was also much less expensive than what the designer quoted me! I bought a Rivini sample gown from Ivory and the moment I walked out of the boutique, I had buyers remorse. Why? Because my wedding dress was a size 10 and I'm probably a size 4 in wedding gowns. I received 3 quotes and decided to go with Jenny. Everyone said that because of the silk and the amount of fabric that a higher end designer used, it would be very expensive. I had to take it in from the sides, the back, the length. She really worked with me and told me exactly what she would do. She took off several inches from both sides and the back and had to keep the ruching symmetrical. I had 3 fittings in all. I picked it up the day before my wedding and she even steamed my veil for me. She did mention how she could have custom made my gown for me too. Jenny is an absolute doll and I wouldn't trust my wedding dress (or any other alterations) to anyone else. Re: the $400 for a hem in my daughter's wedding dress - NOT done by Jenny herself we learned later - resulted in a shoddy, ghastly looking hem and unacceptable relocation of appliques along the train. Even though the hem and train appliques were reworked, it was AFTER the bridal portraits when we discovered why the train would not lay flat. 48 of the 118 bridal pictures are ruined because of the horrible hem work. I asked for a refund of $400 but have been ignored thus far. Total cost of doing business with Jenny Kim was around $1,300! End of March and she's still ignoring me. read more

I had my dress altered by Jenny after getting her name from Lovely Bride where I purchased my dress. I scheduled a fitting 5 weeks in advance like you are supposed to do. I'm not sure if she underestimated my dress (which fit pretty well from the start) or what exactly happened, but what was supposed to be my final fitting, was a dress that was tight, gaped in certain areas, loose in others. I ended up getting my dress the day before I went out of town for my wedding which was additional stress that was not needed. The last thing she did was do the bustle which she showed my friend to when I had it on the final day I was there. I guess I never checked it because I stepped on the back of my dress the entire wedding night :( read more

Jenny did an absolutely incredible job with my wedding dress. It was a two piece dress with a corset and a skirt with many lawyers of Spanish net. She removed the lace from the corset and took it in. The corset had boning in it and she handled it perfectly. She also took in the skirt and cut it to the perfect length. She went above and beyond. I hired her to make alterations but she decided to also steam and mold the corset so that it was beautifully rounded. She made that dress look better than I could ever have imagined. I cannot recommend her highly enough and I've told all of my friends to go straight to her if they have a special dress to be altered. She was lovely. read more

Jenny is professional, friendly, reasonably priced, and she works quickly and does stunning work. (An added bonus: her store has a lovely ambiance.) She constructed the most beautiful custom skirt for my three piece wedding gown. She also did a wonderful alteration on the silk camisole I had bought for it and she made my veil which complimented the gown perfectly. My dress was so gorgeous (and so comfortable!). Ms. Kim's designs are lovely; she uses high-quality fabrics, and I was pleased with the final result. However, if your bridal party does not happen to live in Houston--this is really common sense and perhaps I should have thought of this first--you really might be better off with off-the-rack bridesmaid dresses from either a national chain or a boutique that can order the same gown in different sizes. She was happy to make the gowns very large because two of my bridesmaids could not travel to Houston for a final fitting. But the result was that the long-distance bridesmaids needed to have substantial alterations made on the "tents" that eventually arrived. Jenny Kim saved my daughters wedding dress! We started at Q alterations in the galleria, and they did a very poor job at altering my daughters dress. There were so many problems! We were referred to Jenny Kim, and she fixed every problem for a reasonable price and included 3 fittings and 2 steamings two weeks before the wedding. Jenny's (and her staff's) skills are incredible, she was helpful with regards to deciding what alterations would be flattering, she was cost conscious, and flexible with scheduling appointments. Jenny made a gorgeous retro inspired dress for my daughter's wedding. She and my daughter litterally designed it on a piece of paper themselves and she executed it perfectly! SHE DOESNT DESERVE ANY STARS! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PERSON!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO THERE!!!! Worst service I have ever, ever received in my life. From the beginning, I should of known she wouldn't deliver or care about her customers. She had a terrible attitude since day 1. I hired her to make my flower girl dress, well after taking my flower girl to about 3 appointments, when the time came to pick up the dress, the dress was not ready. Not only was it not ready, but it wasn't even made!!!!! And my wedding is in a few days. I totally complained to her and instead of her apologizing or to try to figure out a way to make the dress, she got upset and completely CANCELLED MY ORDER 5 DAYS BEFORE MY WEDDING. MEANING, SHE LEFT MY FLOWER GIRL WITHOUT A DRESS FOR THE DAY OF THE WEDDING!!!!!!! She didn't care nor apologized for the mistake she made. I don't understand how people like her stay in business. I try on my dress one last time before my wedding and notice that the cups were not sewn in, so Jenny asks me to take the dress off and sews the cups in. She does not need me to try the dress on again she says, so I pay and am excited about my wedding. ON MY WEDDING DAY, I put on my dress and me and all my bridesmaids notice the cups are sticking out and you can see them CLEARLY. Luckily one of them had emergency tape and we did the best we could to hide them. I was extremely disappointed (my dress was not cheap- I got it from Mia Bridal). I tried to put it behind me since it was still my wedding day. After my honeymoon, I emailed Jenny to let her know so she would be careful next time with other brides. NO response back. Be careful. She may be in practice for awhile, but what it seems to me is that she's over confident and rushes through the job. It looks like she lost her desire to do a good job. Moreover, why would you want to work with someone that doesn't even bother to apologize or make an effort afterwards. That shows she really doesn't care and forgot the importance of the Wedding Day for Brides. read more
