Nancy was absolutely amazing. She has very reasonable pricing. When I received my wedding gown, there were a lot of changes that needed to be made. Other places quoted me greater than $1000 for alterations which would have been greater than 50% of the dress cost! Nancy was able to make all my changes and more for $400. She added a bustle to my dress, hemmed it, adjusted the cups and straps, and created a back for my dress. Her workspace is a little messy and kind of hectic, but her work is impeccable. I found Bridals by Nancy on Yelp, and I am so grateful! Nancy was able to measure everything on me, offer her suggestions, and lend a listening ear to everything I was telling her about the dress alterations that I needed. My alterations with her included: - hemmed skirt - added a bustle - fitted the dress shoulders Her service was above and beyond. There was a back part of my dress that wasn't done correctly, and she suggested that we fix that -- and we did. Then, during my fitting, when she saw that I needed an extra button, she stopped everything and made sure to add the extra button for me before I left the store. Her attention to detail really meant a lot to me. She was efficient with her time, reasonably priced, and highly skilled for the work that she does. I felt so bad because my dress had lace and beading all over the place, but she was able to handle everything just fine. Personally, I think it is so rare to find a local seamstress to do the work that she does in a short amount of time compared to some bridal stores with a 3-month turn-around time. FYI, if you're going to see her, please check her store hours before going. Plan to see her in the afternoon, give yourself plenty of time before you go. When she sees you, just be patient about what she says. She wants to be realistic about getting a piece back. She has to manage many clients and still do her job well. I took my wedding dress to be altered here after a recommendation from my mom. Usually I wouldn't go to Asian tailors, but my mom trusted her (it's not her friend) and the fact that she's in Rice Village and has a large American clientele, I went with it. Nancy did an awesome job on my dress. I had a corset wedding dress that was too big, so she reduced the hips and shortened the length... and I have a LOT of beading on my dress! She charged $80, where if I had taken my dress to where I purchased my dress (a major wedding gown vendor), it would've cost be $160. Her shop, however, is questionable. It looks like it's been hit with a tornado, but try not to let that hinder your judgment. read more

Brought my wedding dress and a bridesmaid dress here for tailoring given the convenient location and good reviews on Yelp. Nancy is very kind and sweet. You bring in your items and there's a curtained changing area in the back of the store that you are directed to. You change then she comes in and pins you and chats with you about what you'd like. She also has cups/pads on hand for you if you want to see what your dress will look like with padding sewn in. I found her pricing to be very reasonable given the extensiveness of the work she's doing on my dress, which has a lace overlay and requires a bit more finesse. She's sewing in pads, tightening the chest area, reworking the neckline into a sweetheart, and adding in bustle points for about $150. She also will call you in for a re-fitting once she's done and she'll do more work on if if you're not satisfied. For the bridesmaid dress, I had the shoulders taken up, the sides slimmed, and the hemline taken up for about $40. It was a nice dress with flowy material so I didn't want an amateur tailor to mess it up. I haven't been called back yet for re-fitting but I'll update with how it turns out. I wanted to post this now in case anyone was looking for an inexpensive dress tailor in the village. Remember to bring shoes to try on with your dress! She takes walk-ins and takes credit. read more

Nancy is great! Recommended by a friend as well as my day-of coordinator. I went to two other tailors to see how much it would be to hem my wedding dress, which has about 5 layers, outer 2 being tulle. Nancy was the most affordable, charging $150 to do the work. When I first came in, she went straight to business and pinned up my dress in a matter of minutes! Then we chose a time and date for me to come back (about 3-4 weeks). I returned on the day and time we chose, but the door was closed... She had gone out to lunch and was running late because of rice village parking. Fyi, you should give Nancy 10 minutes extra to your appointment time. Overall she did a very nice job on my dress and I would recommend her to any bride who needs alterations! read more

Nancy does great work. I definitely recommend her. 1) Quality of work - Amazing. Nancy helped add a lace overlay to the existing spaghetti straps on my dress, added additional lace pieces to shape the back of my dress, and hemmed my dress (4 layers, and required removing and re-sewing the lace overlay on the bottom trim of the top layer). Everything looked so professionally done- the lace work looked like they were part of the original design. 2) Price / Value - My total for the work above came out to $400ish. I found this to be extremely reasonable given the amount of detail. 3) Customer Service - Nancy was super sweet. She stood with me patiently for 1.5 hours as we pinned and repinned the lace pieces I wanted added, and provided comments to help give me her perspective. She was extremely detail oriented, recommending I add a flower here or tiny (1 cm long) leaf there to balance the look. 4) Turnaround time - Nancy completed everything in 2 weeks and didn't charge a rush fee (as far as I could tell) 5) COVID measures - Nancy wore a mask 100% of the time she was working with me, which I appreciated. The only cons are the following- - Cleanup - I found 1 stray pin in my hem the morning of my wedding. There are also a number of loose bits of thread that I found on my dress that the tulle picked up from her shop. These were all easy enough to pick out. - shop ambiance - the shop very much looks like your standard tailor's shop. I haven't been to other bridal alteration stores, but after only seeing my dress in a bridal salon (bright lights, marble floors, giant trifold mirrors), it was somewhat jarring. No one is going to hand you a glass of champagne here and wait on you- you're just going to be in and out with a great fitting and dress, which is totally fine by me! read more

Thank god for Nancy. My wedding was planned in a bit of a rush, and I had to get my dress altered rather quickly. It was a bit too big and a bit too long, and I wanted straps put in. Nancy took material taken off the bottom of the dress and made removable straps from them in case I decided against having them on the day of. This was all done in a two week period. When I went to pick up the dress (very close to the day of the wedding), it was just a BIT too tight; Nancy told me to come back and had it perfect within the hour! If you want an appointment with her I would recommend calling ahead and making sure that she would be present; on the day of my initial appointment I arrived but she was at a doctor's appointment that ran over. I came back later that day and she had me measured and the hems pinned and everything within half an hour. Like previous reviewers said, Nancy only takes cash and checks. read more

I was so excited to give this place a try after reading the reviews. I dropped off my bridesmaids dress two weeks ago and was set to pick it up today as I leave tomorrow morning. All I needed was 2 inches taken off the bottom. I drove over during my lunch break and it was still in the same spot as two weeks ago. She had completely forgotten about it! Thankfully, she was open until 7. So after work I fought traffic to trek back to the shop and as I pull out my credit card to pay, Nancy says they don't accept credit cards. What?! So I had to hunt down an ATM and head back to the shop for a third time today. Normally this wouldn't have been an issue, except there is no sign or verbal warning at drop off that the shop is cash only or else I would've come prepared. 2 weeks ago, we came into this shop on a family's referral. We came in to get our son's suit altered for a wedding. Nancy took care of us from the start. I thought my son would be afraid during the pinning but Nancy is very deft in what she does. My son was comfortable during the process. She made her own recommendations on what would work. She was able to finish the suit fairly quickly. The stitching was quality work! Her prices are very fair and from reading other reviews; very affordable for more detailed/extensive work. Nancy did a fantastic job with my wedding dress. I got so many compliments day-of, and I know so much of it had to do with her wonderful alterations work. She shortened the shoulders, added two (French) bustles, fixed the cups, and hemmed the dress for under $200 (I was quoted over $700 at another alterations shop for the same work). She was very prompt and had the work done within six weeks. I had two appointments with Nancy, one for her to view the dress on me and see what needed to be done, and a second to see how the alterations worked and if anything additional needed to be done. I highly recommend her and will be going back to have a bridesmaid dress altered in the very near future. She is the best. A few things to note: -Nancy seems to have a bit of trouble on the phone (I am not sure that English is her first language). Be cognizant of this and courteous, like you would with anyone else you met. She is very easy to understand and understands you when you meet her in person. Call and schedule an appointment with her, and go in. I don't know anyone who was able to get alterations quoted at any shop without going into the shop and physically trying on the dress. Prices vary between dress styles at any shop. You have to go in. -Nancy only takes cash. If you forget, there is an ATM not very far away. read more

After seeing the raving reviews, decided to swing by Nancy's to get an estimation. Compared to the other tailors, she was well below the average. She's very nice and won't try to add unnecessary things to your dress. For example, a different tailor recommended 5 inner and 3 outer bustles!! Nancy just said I needed 1 and that would work. I just needed some simple hemming, bustle, and pinching at the waist. My dress is pretty big and layered and considering that, I think Nancy did a fantastic job. The only thing that is difficult is parking, since it's in a bustling rice village neighborhood. Other than that, highly recommended! read more

Nancy is very patient, quick, efficient, & reasonably price. She was able to alter my mom's gown as well around the same time frame. I was worried because of the many layers, beading, & short time frame. She reassured me that she was able to do so. My gown needed to be taken in at the waist & hemmed. I was able to do two fittings with her (due to my schedule) & everything came out perfect! My moms gown was adjusted at the shoulders & waist..she loved hers as well. I'm confused by these high reviews. Nancy wasn't that helpful to me. Luckily, I brought a bridesmaid. After the first fitting, I tried my dress on at her shop and the front was crooked. I was tripping on it on one side. Also, the bustle was longer than what we had originally decided on. She fixed those problems just fine, but I feel like those mistakes shouldn't have been made to begin with. When I tried to pay with credit card, she said she only takes cash. That would've been nice to know... I had to go find an ATM and come back with cash. Would not come back here or recommend her. read more

Highly recommend Nancy! She really saved me when I got my dress back from Ventura's Bridal and the belt was falling off and the buttons weren't sewn in securely and the bustle was done wrong. (Ventura's then couldn't fit me in for any more alterations). Nancy basically redid all of Ventura's work and only charged $200! She redid the hemline, the bustle, fixed the boning in the bodice, redid the buttons down the back and redid the belt! I gave her a tip because I couldn't believe the price for all her work. She also finished all of that in one month, two weeks before she said it would be done. I had no issue with her not showing up or not answering the phone. Nancy did a fabulous job on my wedding dress and one of my bridesmaid's dresses. I went to a different tailor to get a quote for alterations and was told it would be $400-450 to alter my dress! That's almost as much as the dress cost! My dress was very intricate and had a complete layer of hand beaded and hand stitched flowers. A lot had to be done, so I was shocked by the price, but not shocked. I was hoping it wouldn't be that much, but accepted it if I got the same quote from other places. I'm so glad I did get another quote, because Nancy only quoted me $150! I was really nervous as first because the dress had to be taken in close to 4 inches, as well as shortened a bit. The straps also had to be adjusted and a bustle was needed. Nancy finished my dress in two weeks (super fast!) and it looked great! It fit me so well and everyone was raving about it at the wedding. I gave Nancy a little extra money because I asked her to redo the bustle, but she didn't even ask for extra. It was my fault for not noticing it earlier. I didn't have to give her a deposit or anything. When I asked if I needed to pay part up front, her response was..."I've got your dress, if you want it you'll pay." Very funny! She does all the work herself. Her shop looks a bit off-putting, but don't let that scare you away. It's cluttered and there are old mannequins standing in front of the windows wearing 1980's looking dresses. Trust me, she does great work. I'm taking all my clothes to her from now on. I took my wedding dress to Nancy to get it taken in at the bust, have cups put in and a bustle added, and she did such a great job! My mom and I shopped around to more than 5 other tailors before choosing her and she was absolutely THE MOST reasonably priced we found. Compared to a few other tailors we consulted, she came across as very skilled and confident in her ability to make the dress look and fit fabulously, and impressed us right off the bat with the bustle she suggested, all of which made us feel better about going with her. She had a great turnaround time on her work too. We were so impressed with her work on my dress that my mom and one of my bridesmaids took their dresses to her too with equally great results. Don't let her shop scare you away. It is tiny, cluttered, cramped, and parking is not the best, but Nancy is a super sweet lady if you get to know her and she does high quality work for extremely fair prices. I'm sorry, but I don't understand these recommendations. I called to inquire about alterations and she couldn't understand me at all. I discussed what I needed done and asked if she could give me some idea of cost (rephrasing this in several different ways) and just responded with "what", "huh", and "I don't know", mixed with some awkwardly long silences. For the record, I told her that I would need the dress taken in and shortened. I said could describe the material and the dress to her if it would help, or send photos. When it was clear I was getting nowhere, I finally just asked if she had a price list of any kind and she said "I don't know" again. She just told me to bring in the dress.....I wouldn't just leave my wedding dress with someone who cannot communicate with me and I'm surprised that anyone would. I'm confused by all of the positive reviews that lead me to this business in the first place. Maybe something has changed recently. read more
