My family and I have been to this cake shop for many years for birthdays and celebrations. This place is truly a hidden gem in the south bay. It's a mom and pop shop and a must visit. Just like Maria stated in her review, "It's one of those "when you know, you know" type businesses". They have amazing cake flavors such as mango, ube, chocolate and vanilla. But not just plain Vanilla, you can add strawberries and mangos or a puree inside! They cakes are so fluffy and light, and not sweet just how my family prefers it. They are very accommodating all you have to do is communicate that to them. They take phone orders even last minute orders. They have ready to go made cakes. They also offer other desserts and foods such as empandas. If you are in the area make sure to stop by and look at what they have to offer. It's at the very corner of a strip mall & honestly if you're not already looking for it or know it exists, I don't know how you could possibly stumble upon it. It's one of those "when you know, you know" type businesses. When I walked in, I wasn't sure if there were any goodies available to purchase or if I had to order ahead because there's nothing on display except for fake decorated cakes and a few pieces of chicken empanada. There's also white pastry boxes stacked. I asked the cashier if I could get some Hopia Mongo (or did I have to pre-order). I was relieved she said they have them available. Again, I don't know what else they have on hand. My advice is just to ask especially if you're familiar with the typical Filipino desserts--they may have them at the back. I was on a mission on this visit. I found them through Yelp and knew I wanted to try their highly recommended Hopia Mongo. I also got a chicken empanada to try which was good (savory & crusty), but not the best. I have another place I go for those. ;-) For the Hopia Mongo alone, I'd love to give this business the full 5 stars (Five STARS)! The filling is creamy and sweet and melts in your mouth...just like a hopia should. One hopia can be eaten with maybe 4 bites, but each bite can be enjoyed and savored. It completely quenches my hopia craving--which the store-bought kind only satiates a little. It feels well-made with home-made love. This is now my go-to spot for Hopia. And I'll come back often. **Because of the lonely aesthetic of the place and it not looking like a fully functioning bakery, I had to take a star off. I feel like they could attract more customers if their shelves were filled with goodies and we could SEE enticing sweets to temp our cravings. Obviously, what they're doing is somehow working for them. And again, I highly highly recommend this place for Hopia Mongo. So yes, be aware of what to expect & come out here & get some! read more

For what this place is and what they offer, it's great! My family has been coming here for their hopia for over 20 years. They have pork (baboy) and mongo (mung bean) which are both good, I personally like the mongo better, my mom loves both. You should order your goods at least 30 minutes in advance, especially if it's a big order. Also if you've never been here, keep in mind this is not the best hang out spot. It's more of an in and out visit. They accept cash, just not 100 dollar bills and card transactions over $10. read more

If you love hopia, or bean cakes, then this small corner fit for two standing customers and one staffing person behind the counter is the specialty bakery just for you. The kitchen is prominent and so there's just this tiny space to order but the bean cakes, the hopia ARE THE BEST. Buy half a dozen to a dozen, share to be happy. You will not be sorry. Just ordered a birthday cake from them for the first time and was extremely happy with what I got! My daughter just turned 2 and we were having a big party, so I wanted to get her a special cake. She loves purple so I decided ube was the way to go. I ordered a round cake for 40 people with white frosting and the edges completely covered in rainbow sprinkles. Cost was a great deal at $53. On the order, the woman wrote 12" wedding round which kind of freaked me out because a 12" cake is definitely not enough to feed that many, but when I picked up the cake, it was plenty big! I had them leave the top blank and just added my own decorative candle and cake topper. The cake was a hit, even with my guests that were unfamiliar with ube. The cake was just the right amount of sweetness (much less than a typical American cake) and was fluffy and delicious! I will definitely be back to order cakes from here in the future! read more

I hate to write this review during Covid where small business are suffering, but unfortunately that does not excuse the issue we had with our custom cake. Our cake was structurally unsound, and speaking as an experienced cake designer myself, was not supported fully or properly to hold the top tier. The design was also completely different than what was requested, and we were told that the designer improvised even though there was constant communication through text. The food dye used was of terrible quality, and even stained my finger pink for hours. We spoke the the owner "Jean", and not only was she incredibly rude and dismissive, she was not helpful in the least bit and offered us half our money back if we drove all the way back while we were supposed to be setting up for our party. She even hung up on me on my second call back. Beware of patronizing this place for special occasions. Grocery store cakes are far better quality than what we got here! We called in hopes of finding a solution but instead found ourselves without a cake and furious over our conversation with the owner. read more
