I went to this salon because the "Hyun Hair" next door was so busy and this place was readily available. But that was the sign I should have known to avoid. Jenny totally ruined my hair terribly. I did magic straight perm, she said my hair was damaged a lot, and I use wrong shampoo, that's why my hair came out like that way. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. This review is for Jenny. I was in the Diamond Bar area for a weekend and at the recommendation of a friend went to Jenny's Hair Salon to get a digital perm. It was suggested to me to have Sonny do my hair so a week in advance I made an appointment with her on June 27th at 11am. A bit of background: I had a digital perm done in June 2013 up in the Bay Area. At that hair salon, they booked clients in intervals and would only work on two customers at a time to ensure each person had the right amount of quality care. When I called Jenny and she booked me immediately, perhaps that should have raised a red flag. Around comes June 27th. As I enter the establishment, I am directed to a chair but lo and behold, the lady doesn't introduce herself. (Red Flag #2) She tells my family the digital perm will take 1.5 to 2 hours so they decide to just stick around the shopping center. Last time it took 3 hours for my perm up in the bay. A decrease in 33-50% on the perm process time? I should have known something was up. (Red Flag #3) All seems to go well. I don't speak Korean so after exchanging a few words about who recommended me, the lady (who I now know to be Jenny), says little and works on my hair. All seems fine until I realize that while I have curlers in my hair, there are no wires in sight. (Red Flag #4) Could this be a new kind of digital perm that doesn't require wires I ask myself? At the time I thought so. But while she was doing my hair, Jenny was also attending to about 6 other people who came in and out during my perm process. All I can guess is that she forgot. She forgot the most iconic step of a digital perm. Connecting the wires to the curlers. Thank you Jenny. I realized all this when I had returned to San Diego, about 2 hours away from the salon and my hair is as straight as it was before. I called the salon to figure out exactly who did my hair. Jenny on the phone said she would call me back in 10 minutes and of course, she did not call so I had to follow up. She now says that I can go back to get it checked and re-done. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. There is no way I will let that woman touch my hair again. If I ever go back to this salon it will be to get a refund. $120 and three hours of my time is not worth my now straight-as-before hair. Yes, Jenny's Hair Salon may be nice and clean. Perhaps if you speak Korean you'll have a better time. I hope all your experiences turn out better than mine. read more

I got my hair dyed here by Jenny in the summer of 2015. I wanted a light ash brown color but my hair ended up being a super brassy medium brown. I came here with my aunt, who always gets her hair done here. I liked the way her hair looked, so naturally I thought that I'd walk out of the salon satisfied. Boy was I wrong. This isn't a very modern salon that uses bleach and olaplex and all the fancy, pastel fashion hair colors that American salons use. When I was looking through the color charts before dyeing my hair, I noticed that I didn't even have much to choose from. I wanted to change up my hair before the school year began, so I went for it anyways. After she dried my hair, she asked if I wanted a haircut. I told her no several times but she then started complaining how damaged my hair was. First of all, my hair wasn't even that damaged considering how much stress I put on it before. I dyed it multiple times beforehand and even had a digital wave perm. Second of all, it really bothers me when hair stylists push you into doing something you don't want. My hair was fine just the way it was. I don't recommend going here if you want a lighter hair color. From what I know, Jenny is better at doing haircuts, perms, and subtle hair colors. read more

Had my hair straightened by Jenny this Saturday. I usually go to this salon in San Gabriel for over 10 years for straightening but decided to give Jenny a try since it's closer to home. The entire process took almost 4 hours which was typical for my long long hair. My experience was very pleasant. Jenny gave me lots of magazines to read while I wait the chemicals to work. She even gave me a short neck massage after washing my hair. My hair came out straight and soft. I will go to this salon from now on. read more

came in for a TRIM because the place i usually go to was closed. what happened was a humbling experience... A short hair lady worked on me, was chatting with her friend (another customer) on the side half the time. poked the back of my neck with her scissors twice. very rough with my head and bumping it everywhere when shampooing me. had the dryer on the highest heat and burned me neck several times drying it. another older customer came in was waiting. The customer watched me flinch in pain when she burned my neck with the dryer. She then looked at her and then looked back at me saying "your hair is damaged haha". I normally wouldn't complain because it happens. but the end result was horrendous and i look like simba from lion king. she gave me MANY choppy layers when i simply asked for a trim. When i left, the whole right side of my head was still damp. I've never had a bad hair cut experience as long as i can remember and the only reason why I did not give it a one star was really because this was a HUMBLING experience. I appreciate my regular hair stylist so much more now. Oh but i wouldn't recommend getting a hair TRIM here unless you're also up for a humbling experience. read more

As you know, rent and other factors determine how long a stylist stays at a location. The owner seemed friendly and seem to have a good rapport with the other stylists. The short version: do not come here. I stopped by here today because I was overdue for a haircut and have always gone to Korea salons. There weren't a lot of reviews but I was looking to get a pretty simple haircut so didn't think it was a big deal. I walked in without and appointment. I caught the eye of the lady that I think is in charge but she said she was busy and pointed me towards another woman who was available. I didn't catch the name of the lady that did my hair but she was a middle aged korean lady with short hair and long side swept bangs. She asked me what I wanted and I said I just wanted to cut several inches off the length of my hair and to trim my bangs as well. She was eating when I was brought over to her and it didn't seem like she washed her hands before touching my hair. I didn't think much of it at first because every other hair place I've gone to washes your hair first. NOPE! She just started cutting. At that point I knew to drastically lower my expectations but thought, hey I am cutting off a lot of hair so maybe they will wash it after and clean it up. Ha... She proceeded to grab large large handfuls of hair and started chopping away. It kinda reminded me of when I donated my hair to locks for love but at least that was for a good cause. I could tell from her technique that she wasn't very skilled but honestly I have a pretty high tolerance when it comes to my hair since it grows back so I let it go. She proceeded to also cut my bangs a lot shorter than what I had asked for and didn't feather the bottom of my hair so it looks super straight and not anything like how it was when I walked in. Then at the end... no wash! She literally just sprayed some stuff on my hair while cutting and that was it. I can get over the lack of skill to a degree but yeah the whole experience was quite amazingly bad. And even though the other ladies working at the salon could have potentially been more talented I do not understand the owner watching those whole thing and not being like hey, maybe you should wash her hair first to get a more accurate haircut... I honestly do not understand. As a side note, the customer that the owner lady was working on didn't seem very pleased as well and made comments as well. So does my hair look like a total hack job, no. But it does look amazingly uneven like I cut it myself. Smh... Planning on going to another salon to get it fixed. Haircut was $30. read more

This was my third time coming here and I was going to make this my new spot to get my hair done. However, this time wi be my last visit. My hair used to be about high rib cage length. My first hair cut from Jenny was $20. Such a great deal! She cut off about 4 inches and did a fantastic job. She wash, dried, cut and styled my hair. So when I wanted to go shorter a few months later I knew I wanted to go to her. She charged $25 because my hair was rather long when I came to see her again. Since my hair is short and healthy, I wanted to get a trim of about 2 inches to up keep the look. She charged me $30!! ((Don't get me wrong it's still inexpensive.. But it's the 3rd time I've been here and she keeps increasing her rate and doesn't tell you until after she's done)) Jenny does wonderful hair cuts, but c'mon. Raising your rates without posting a price list or informing your clients is just unprofessional. read more
