Let's be honest, no one likes the idea of having a tooth pulled, in my case, two wisdom teeth and another back tooth readied for an implant. If you find yourself in my situation , chose your dentist wisely, I luckily chose Jeremy Wilgus. I arrived on time and was immediately attended to by a bevy of smiling faces, all so friendly and comforting. Brenda H. Set up the I V for the sedative, yeah, I choose to sleep through the procedure. Brenda definitely had done this before, the I V was painless. As we waited for the Dentist, Brenda showed me some of the supplies that would be used and explained the procedure. This was done in a very relaxed and calm manner, which helped soothe my nerves. Doctor Wilgus arrived and calmly explained what I should expect and how to care for my mouth afterwards. After the sedative was administered we talked for about a minute and I was out. My next recollection was waking after the procedure. Other then feeling a bit groggy, I experienced no pain. In the week following the procedure, today, I've experienced very little discomfort, I was really pleasantly surprised, the procedure I dreaded was over and it wasn't bad at all. Wow! I broke a crown off and am relatively new to SoCal, so, I was very pleased when my dentist, Dr. McCarthy got me a same day appt. with Dr. Wilgus. I had an extraction and an implant done two hours later. I'm really scared of the dentist and was pleased that Dr. Wilgus was super gentle, patient and sweet. Nothing hurt and it seemed to go by fast. I'm a bit sore the next day, but nothing out of the ordinary. He also explained what he was doing which makes me less anxious. I have had SO much dental work. I found out I had an infected tooth that was causing me pain. The tooth needed to be pulled and I made the decision to have a dental implant. Mydentist referred me to Dr. Wilgus. he is great, and so is his staff. This will be my 8th dental implant (ugh), and has been the easiest one so far. While traveling overseas, I broke a tooth on an olive pit. I was referred to Dr. Wilgus for removal of the tooth and implant. He noticed I needed serious gum work on other areas and suggested treatment. I had multiple surgeries and even went to their office for a routine cleaning. My teeth and gums feel better than ever. I am so happy! During all of the treatments, Dr. Wilgus and his staff were friendly, professional and helpful. I even got calls after my surgeries directly from Dr. Wilgus to make sure everything was okay. One surgery came right after a holiday weekend, but I needed to get in touch with the doctor during the weekend. I was worried, but called and was put in touch with the doctor right away. Talk about service! I will continue to use Dr. Wilgus in addition to my dentist to prevent further issues from arising. I want great dental care, not band-aid dentistry. read more

I was referred to Dr. Wilgus at the beginning of the year. I had every intention of doing a review on him at that time, but I forgot until I was looking something up today. I cannot say anything negative about my experience. From the staff, to the appointments to the actual procedure. The staff was so friendly. professional and personable. It seemed evident to me that Dr. Wilgus chose this profession because he wanted to make a difference. Prior to my surgery, I hid my smile. My teeth were small and I had just gotten my braces off. He reshaped my gums and I am happily smiling now. My husband even stated that it was nice to see me smiling without a closed mouth or with my hand covering it. This was one of the best experiences I have had at a periodontal office. I was not blessed with the best teeth and even though I take good care of them, over the years I have had lots of work. When my dentist referred me to Dr Wilgus, I was a little reluctant because it was a little ways away from where I work and live. I'm so glad I made the treck to this office. From Debbie at the front office to Brenda the assistant, plus others which I didn't get there names, they were all very welcoming and friendly. They kept me informed as to everything they were doing the whole time. Then there was Dr Wilgus, oh my word, he is so good looking as well as being super nice. The grafting procedure was done in no time and with NO discomfort! He explained everything he did and he gave me the after care instructions as to what to expect later. There is not a better surgeon in the area for gums and implants! Dr wilgus is outstanding, thankful ventura county has him and we dont have to drive to West LA for a person of this caliber! Many people including myself get nervous when going to the dentist, but Dr wilgus completely alleviates the stress through his personality, his tone, how he articulates your situation and how he talks to you during the procedure. What might have been a scary, miserable experience for my 13 year old son, was anything but, thanks to Dr. Wilgus and his staff. My 13 year old son had a labial frenectomy and a gingivectomy to remove the extra gum tissue caused by the squeezing action from his braces. Dr. Wilgus made my son feel comfortable during the procedure (only slight pain during the last 2 minutes) and his post-care went smoothly with almost no pain (no pain killers were needed) and no infection (no antibiotics were needed). From a cosmetic standpoint, today there the muscle did re-attach slightly but much higher up. Regarding the gingevectomy to remove the bunched gums caused by braces, when we went to our post-appointment, Dr. Wilgus made a comment about how he now has "bigger teeth" but my son's gingivectomy did not increase the size of his teeth, nor was that the purpose. The doctor removed the extra depth from the gums (if you were to look from the side of his front, top teeth gumline before the surgery, you would have seen the gum tissue bunched up between and above the front teeth from the braces squeezing the teeth together) but he did not cut the gumLINE in any way to increase the size of his front teeth. So, although we are satisfied with the results, the doctor did not recall EXACTLY what he did during our post op appointment. I guess in a way that is a testament to how nice and normal my son's gums do look now since even his doctor couldn't tell which type of cut he made to the gums! lol. His minor forgetfulness at the post-op is the reason I cannot give him the full monty (5 stars). I recommend Dr. Wilgus for a gingivectomy (removal of bunched-up gums caused by the squeezing action of braces) and labial frenectomy (for space between front two teeth). Additionally, he put my 13 year old son at ease and the entire process caused absolutely no anxiety or pain! read more

I drive from northern Cali to see Dr. Wilgus. He has the most gentle hand in the industry. I can barely feel it when he is working on me. The IV sedation option is a god-sent since I am a huge baby with NO pain threshold. The staff is also wonderful. As I was leaving, still groggy after IV sedation, Diane in the front office remembered how much I liked an article in one of their magazines and sent it home with me. I was completely shocked that someone would take note and then still remember after my gum graft surgery without any discussion about it. Given the nature of my visit to their office, I have been seriously impressed with how pleasant my experience has been. read more

I've had a couple of procedures and some checkups with him and he and his staff always made me feel at ease and never rushed. Everything went well and like the other review I also had a personal call from Dr Wilgus to check up on how I was feeling. Very little pain and great recovery and followup. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Wilgus and his office. Highly, Highly recommend them. When my dentist told me I needed gum surgery, I had never had it done and was a little freaked out about it. Dr. Wilgus was incredibly nice, explaining the proceedure, offering me many choices for my comfort level of whether I wanted to be put under or the usual numbing way. (I decided not to be put under and went with numbing) He promised me I would not feel a thing..it would be over in less than 45 minutes and it went exactly as he said it would. I went home shocked not to be in a lot of pain and was pleasantly surprised when he called later that evening to check up on how i was doing. It was nice to know he was concerned about my well being. When my Dentist told me I had to have an implant done, I was like, your kidding? Due to my first experience with Dr. Wilgus I wanted to go back to him. This time also more freaked out as I have not had a tooth pulled since my wisdom teeth as a kid...I'm now 55 yrs old. Again he said I had options...but this time recommended a sedative be taken the night before I came in for the appointment and another pill to be taken 90 minutes before the appointment. It absolutely did the trick. I got into the office, he nummed my mouth and again within 45 minutes...tooth was out, I was stitched up. Dr. Wilgus said I would be aware of what was happening (pressure pulling the tooth out) but my nerves were gone..I went home to go back to sleep...and rested the remainder of the day..but virtually had minimal pain. So cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Wilgus and his girls are great too, very helpful, nice and great to work with. read more
