This place is amazing. The ambience is really nice and seems quite rustic, which I love! The people are very nice, and took care of us well. For food I ordered the Rueben and Calamari. The calamari was nicely seasoned and fried, and the pineapple chili sauce gave it a tropical feeling to it. The rueben was delicious and cheesy! No seasoning on fish or fries. Fries were extremely soggy. The Cole slaw I took one bite and it was most definitely bad not to mention again... no seasoning or flavor other than a sour taste which I'm 99% sure it was bad. The macaroni.... the blandest macaroni I've ever tasted. No seasoning again. No salt. Not even the breadcrumbs ontop tasted like anything. This tells me it's low quality food without any seasoning? Salad was bland. Ranch was bland. I had a few pieces of lettuce with mostly croutons. I'm mostly perplexed by how you can even make food taste so bland? I did get an assortment of pies which looked delicious but haven't had yet. Extremely disappointing experience. We ended up here purely by luck and randomly, because we got lost in trying to get up to the Cliff House on top of Mansfield Mountain (hello, taking the gondola!) When I was a server I used to hate when people would show up right at open but they were the best. Service was great, the atmosphere was pleasant, however, the food was mediocre. For the price and a place that has brunch as a selling point, I was very disappointed in the Eggs Benedict. I ordered the standard style Benedict. The poached eggs were solid with no runny yolk at all. Hollandaise was almost nonexistent, so I can't really comment on whether it was good or not. The muffin was so tough I had to saw through it (gave up) and the home fries were mostly skins with no potato. I will say, my fellow diners enjoyed the omelet, brisket Benedict and chicken sandwich though none ate their fries or home fries. Worst dining experience in a long time. All was fine until my wife's meal came out. Five scallops on a small bed of a corn veggie mix. Barely the size one would expect from an appetizer. Very little food. Asked how our meal was, we let the waitress know that we were unhappy. Manager came out, apologized, then said that the owner had just entered, and he would talk to us. Waited a few minutes, and he came over and dumped more food in front of us in an arrogant and impatient manner. Never asked us about our experience or our concerns. Bragged about how he had two restaurants and knew what he was doing and started to tell us how much he paid for the scallops. Came across as arrogant and rude. Ended up comping the meal and showing us to the door totally unable to see what a jerk he was being. I will never go back and suggest that you don't either. read more

A friend recommended the Jericho Cafe & Tavern to us. We went our first night in town and wound up with butternut squash soup and clam chowder. The clam chowder was the best I have ever had, even in Boston. We then split a Reuben and a Beef on Weck sandwich. I had a hot apple cider to drink. Here's the best part. We liked it so much, we went again the next night. This time it was the pretzels with fondue cheddar cheese and another bowl of the clam chowder. Diner was a squash salad with salmon and fish and chips. I managed to get two hot apple ciders down. In addition to excellent food, the waitstaff was friendly, personable and focused on excellence. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Burlington. Highly recommended if you're anywhere close to Burlington. read more

We really like going to the Jericho Tavern. I don't know if the recipe or the chefs changed but the beef bourgonion was more like beef stew. It used to be really good. And my granddaughters cheeseburger was so burnt that she didn't eat it. We did not complain or send anything back. I'll probably give them another chance before I call it quits. It has been several years since I had been back in the area but wanted to swing in for a quick dinner. The appetizer was great - cornbread and burrata with pesto. The entree was good but took awhile to come out and also wasn't very hot when it arrived. It was pretty busy so it was understandable. At $15 a pop, I expect a bit more. It might be different if the food was an amazing culinary creation, but every dish I've had there, and I've had many as I continue to give them another chance, has been mediocre at best. Nothing I would ever rave about or crave to go back to have again. Now on the positive side - why I keep trying - the staff and service is awesome. Very friendly and attentive to your needs. What an adorable and Vermonty place to visit. Let's start with the interior. Old wood beans, wood ceiling, and rustic wood tables. The chairs were sooo comfortable. They must have a bit of an issue with their septic system because every now and then there was a whiff of eau d'septic. Unfortunately, that's just a part of rural Vermont. Complaining about it would be like complaining about the smell of manure. Got a problem with it, stay in the city. We started with beverages. A Bentley mocha (white chocolate) and a Diet Pepsi. The mocha was AMAZING. The Pepsi clearly came from the bar siphon. Next time we'd get a can of Pepsi instead as it was a bit watered down. We had the warm kale salad. IT IS TO DIE FOR. Earthy from the beets, warm, funky goat cheese, crispy walnuts, and the most amazing maple vinaigrette. We'd come back just for the salad. Words I've never said before! We also tried the pretzels with cheese fondue. Homemade and tasty and we'd have loved it if we'd had that before the kale salad. But...we had them after and they were disappointing. We also tried the salmon and the steak frites. Both were excellent! Be advised before 5:00 the potatoes are ONLY fries. They were delicious, but if that's not what you want it could be disappointing. Better to go in knowing and save your calories. We decided to bring home desserts to the family so we could try as many as possible. Peanut butter pie - creamy and wow! Salted caramel flourless chocolate "bar" - spectacular Apple pie - the crusty is buttery and delicious. The apples are like from a can Pumpkin cheesecake brownie pie - meh, save you calories Pumpkins snickerdoodles - I'm totally stealing that! All in all, a wonderful meal. We went here for a late lunch. To meet some friends we haven't seen since last year. Our reservation was for 1 pm. We had to wait about 15 minutes. Due to limited seating. The service was excellent. We went to dinner there last night for our mother's 72th birthday. Our reservation was for 6:15, we finally received water at 6:45 from the busser. We asked if we could order drinks with him, he told us that we would have to wait for our server. I believe he could feel our frustration, the hostess came over and apologized for the wait time and gave us a 30.00 gift card. Next, we finally order drinks, my husband orders a beer (Sip of Sunshine) and we order a bottle of wine (Bonanza). The waitress comes back 5-7 min later to tell us they are out of the beer he requested and the bottle of wine we ordered. So my sister and I decided to get a dirty martini, it was so salty you could barely drink it. In return I ask for just a glass of wine, that was good. We finally placed our dinner order, after waiting again our server comes back and says they are out of the Butternut Squash Ravioli, which two of us ordered it, so we needed to look at the menu again. I ordered the steak, that was cooked to the correct temperature and was delightful, my sister ordered the meatloaf it looked like it had been sitting under the warming lights for days, the sauce on top was hardened and the meatloaf was dry and hardly edible. I understand it's "wing night" on Mondays, and it's busy so we were prepared for that. The extended wait time, the lack of the food quality, and mediocre service was such a disappointment.
