Nicoise salad was doused with dressing, sushi grade tuna with no flavor and potatoes that tasted so dry they crumbled like shortbread cookies. The appetizer - artichoke hearts - was tasty. We had a wonderful dinner at the roost! We were here for my friend's bachelorette (party of 12) and we reserved a table for 8pm. Most of us ordered the burger but there was also a few orders of the pasta & salmon. I had the fig & arugula salad & added salmon. It was excellent, which it should be for a 30 dollar salad. A few meals were served a little late so we were given a free round of Prosecco! Super nice of the restaurant! The service was great as well. I only had a vodka soda so I can't comment on cocktails. Had a great dinner tonight here. Our server came right over and took our drink order. I had the Forget Me Not cocktail, with blueberry vodka, crème de violette, lemon syrup and soda. We decided to split two apps and a dinner. We had no idea how copious the appetizers would be and also very delicious. The ahi tuna nachos were perfectly fried wonton crisps with avocado, ahi tuna sashimi, wakame, wasabi cream and furikake. The duck flatbread was served like a pizza and we decided to take some home versus stuff ourselves. The steak was a perfect medium rare, served with a chimchurri, broccoli rabe, and roasted fingerling potatoes. The vegetables were properly seasoned, but I could have used more salt in the chimchurri. All in all an excellent meal, great service, with a beautiful vista. It is most likely the best restaurant in the area. 5* compare to other restaurants in the area. 3*Duck flatbread: the duck was cooked really well, juicy, tasty, and soft. We're staying at Topnotch for a "minimoon" & have had two dinners and one room service breakfast at The Roost. Keep in mind, the resort itself is very pricey so this restaurant reflects that. That being said, the food was fresh and service was great. Only reason I wouldn't give five stars is that despite the average clientele here being rather affluent (we're not, this was gifted to us), for what they're charging for food they could make the portion sizes slightly bigger. Also we were disappointed with breakfast - we spent almost $100 & it wasn't worth it. The avocado toast lacked flavor & avocado, & the fruit "bowl" was the size of a cup. The dinner experience, however, was much better. Our first night we ate at the bar & the bartender was very attentive & our food came out fast. The ahi tuna nachos were my favorite item I tried, however again - for the steep price it needed more tuna. There was very little, the majority of the plate was the wonton chips, ratios could've been better. It was delicious & would get again but would opt for the appetizer portion. My husband had the roost burger two nights in a row because it was so good! The second night we were seated & the service was just as fast. The Korean flavored wings were delicious and crispy, and I enjoyed my fish tacos. Nothing to write home about but they were good! The triple berry tart was yummy however the dough was slightly undercooked. The tacos & burgers are more reasonably priced for someone visiting here who may have been gifted the stay & isn't used to spending so much on a night out. I came here recently with my family for Thanksgiving so I can only speak to the Thanksgiving buffet we had for dinner. First of all, this resort is amazing, the views are stunning. Super warm, cozy, everything you expect to see in a lodge/hotel/resort in Stowe, and the atmosphere of this restaurant is nothing less. In terms of the food I had from the buffet, everything was delicious. The carving station with turkey and short rib were so good. The mashed potatoes were my favorite~ very garlicy and had a nice texture. The stuffing was a little cold but I still enjoyed it. And the ravioli was filling and delicious as well. $75 per person for the buffet I thought was asking quite much...but I mean, it was Thanksgiving and the food at least was worth it. Sadly disappointed. Came to The Roost for after dinner cocktails and wish we had skipped. I had an espresso martini (which I've had a lot of) and could not finish it due to the fact that it was mostly coffee. My partner ordered the Manhattan and also was disappointed when there was no burbon available. There was no music playing & the atmosphere was awkward. Not to mention 1 drink was $18. The prices are high but I personally think it's worth it for the food and drink. We went on a Sunday evening and Carlos was our waiter. He was extremely attentive and polite! We LOVED the charcuterie board, I'll think about it often. My husband and I both got the skirt steak and it was also really good, steak cooked perfectly at medium rare. went to the roost for lunch today and had possibly the worst experience I have ever had. The amount of time waiting for food to be delivered and then the poor quality of the food that finally arrived was honestly almost humorou. Grilled cheese with cold hard bread and cold unmelted cheese, sandwiches with hot cooked lettuce that was black in spots and uncooked bacon. kids meals served 20 mins before the adults meals were brought out that had very obviousLu been sitting under heat lamps.. 3 of 4 meals were UN eatable and sent back.. and no.. the restaurant wasn't super busy and understaffed. we were one of 3 tables and it took almost 2 hours to get food that we didn't even end up eating. The restaurant was disappointing from start to finish. Many of the staff seemed not interested in serving the restaurant guests. Specifically the waiter that served us was extremely disinterested and repeatedly made snarky remarks about the menu and the restaurant in general. Not sure what the problem was but it did not add to our enjoyment of the restaurant. There was no one to greet us when we arrived and menus given to us were for breakfast instead of cocktails. At the bar there was an individual that was talking to others at the bar by yelling across the bar which was distracting. The menu was overly focused on comfort food geared towards I am guessing those after a long day of skiing but with limited options and subpar food that overall restaurant was disappointing. There were several options not available which limited the options even more. The lack of attention to detail at this restaurant was evident and led to an overall poor experience. It was very disappointing all around. Not what I am used to based on past experience at this resort. I hope management takes a hard look at the service at this restaurant and their food offerings. We waited 30 minutes for a salad and a sandwich, with indifferent, slow service. My kale salad was mediocre, although my husband enjoyed his sandwich and fries. (They haven't updated their online menu) they don't actually serve buffalo Mac any longer but because I pulled it up on my phone they made it anyways. Hubby and I were staying at the hotel and were too lazy to leave (since the parking lot was full). So we decided to stay in for dinner. Interesting lounge, games for kids, lots of people hanging out apres ski. We sat at the bar for dinner and ordered the following to share: - Tom Yum Mussels (thai seasoning with Roti) - The Roost Greens - Tandoori Chicken Sandwich with Fries Overall, it was all really delicious! The mussels were different from your usual white wine garlic mussels, the roti was good with it! I only wish they gave two rotis :p The Roost Greens salad - also amazing. It had candied pecans, beets and big chunks of blue cheese. The Tandoori chicken sandwich really surprised us - it was really flavourful, soft and moist. Typically when you order a chicken sandwich, it's really a hit or miss - typically a miss as the meat is really dry. But this one, was amazing! It came on a brioche bun - OMG. Returned again during covid and this place still shines. It's over a year later and many of the same staff are there. I think that's a good sign. They're so friendly and attentive. I started reading my order to him from a list I had on my iPhone and he interrupted me and asked me if he could just take the phone. I didn't feel comfortable with that so I paused at which point he asked again "what do you want". He was miserable and rude and shouldn't be working in customer service. Guys, this place is AMAZING! I came July 4th weekend during covid. It was impossible to get a reservation anywhere for outside dining and the Roost was like the 6th restaurant I called. My expectations weren't high as the reviews seemed to be a bit mixed, but my husband and I were blown away. First the view of the mountain is amazing and worth a meal there for that reason alone. Second, for those with kids there is a huge lawn where they can run around next to the tables which was great. Third, they have so much outdoor space so it's easy to get a table outside and they have cute hanging lights, fire pit etc. Finally the food was fantastic. Had chicken tacos, filet mignon, and chicken with risotto - all nicely done. Not cheap and service a bit slow but overall such a pleasant dinner in a memorable setting it was worth it. Probably (definitely) the worst bar/restaurant in Stowe. Don't waste your time here. We arrived and stood 1 foot from the bartender at the bar for about 10 minutes and he didn't even say "Hi." He looked like the 3 mojitos he was making was the hardest job he ever had. We were ready to drink and eat. 2 children under 10 years old were totally Out of control on/near the shuffleboard bar area that we wanted to use. The Manager thought it was funny. We had 1 beer each and left-ate at the Bench instead-which had amazing service and food. Upon leaving, I asked at the front desk if kids were always aloud at the bar-I was told they are family Friendly until 9 PM. Kids in the bar area is one thing-AT the bar is another. Came in to check out the Roost. Beautiful modern bar setting. Ordered a three cheese plate. Was delicious. Came out with those awesome Jan's Farmhouse crisp which were very thin-sliced cracker type with pistachio. Paired nicely with the cheeses. So much so we had to ask for more and the bartender nicely obliged. The cheese plate was generous . We were also offered complimentary pulled pork tacos. Absolutely delicious and unexpected. Service was excellent. Will have to come back to try other items on the menu that passed by to other patrons including the baby bucco and stuffy clams. read more

For such a highly rated resort and spa, this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The server didn't greet us for 10 minutes. Our drinks took at least 20 minutes and one of us got the wrong drink. The food took over an hour. We never even saw our server to ask how much longer it would be. The table next to us ordered at the same time as us and got their food 25 minutes before we did. I ordered a salad and the waitress brought a sandwich but after waiting so long I just ate what I was given as I did not have another hour to wait for the correct meal. Overall this meal was extremely overpriced and a horrible experience. I have worked in the service industry for 5 years and usually give the the benefit of the doubt, but this was such a sad excuse for customer service that I felt inclined to write a review. Saw the following ad in the local paper: "Announcing $5.00 Fridays in the Roost. $5.00 menu items + specials. $5.00 Featured Long Trail drafts" We arrived at 5:45pm, and sat at the bar. Asked about the "$5.00 specials" and were told the only 'special' was French Onion Soup. Turns out, they were trying a new menu on one of the busiest foliage weekends of the year (?) The beer menu listed only 1 Long Trail Draft, but it turns out, there were actually 2 (??) We ordered 2 regular priced apps (Wings and Fritters). Even though it was not crowded, the food took a long time to arrive. (Note: even though this is a newish bar, the kitchen is in the basement, and the help has no way of knowing when food is ready(???) There was only a drizzle of sriracha aioli on the fritters, and when we mentioned that to the waitress, her comment was "New item, good to know". Really? Hadn't this been tested on anyone (????) The portions were fine, and the food itself was good. The waitress forgot the wet-wipes, and when we asked, she said, she 'always forgets the wet wipes." Really? When we were done, we asked for the check, it came as a total only (not itemized) so I have no idea if the Long Trails were only $5.00. The 'Local Live Music' was loud and nondescript, and the place was crowded when we left - never to return. read more
