Let me start by saying that my intentions were to purchase 3 to 4 plates; but their method of payment was cash and Zelle temporarily. So I was only able to try the Jerk Chicken plate. The chicken and sauce was very flavorful and well seasoned with a spicy smoky taste. The chicken is not grilled on a pit, but has a smoky taste. Tender, served on a bed of rice and peas and a side of cabbage mixed with mixed vegetables, that were green beans, corn, and lima beans. I'm not sure if they were out of plantains, but that was not on my plate. I was looking forward to it. I really enjoyed my meal and I will have to come back to purchase other dishes. The service was fast and friendly. I'm looking forward to seeing the place after the renovations are done. (They are open during renovations.) (ask about the weekly and monthly specials.) I hope that they brighten up their sign on the outside of the restaurant and also make the view of the restaurant bright at night so it does not look like it's closed in the evening . It's so dark at night...If I had not known that the restaurant was really open, I would have gone home just by looking at it because it looked like it was closed. I also heard someone in the restaurant say the same thing. The Chef said that he will continue specials each month. And I advise that you call ahead of time to find out if the methods of payment are still temporarily limited before you get there. Nobody wants to see potential business walk away if they only had a credit card or even drive past because they thought that a restaurant was really closed. I'm looking forward to coming back to see how the place is coming along; and to try other entrées on his ever expanding menu. Bottom line...... Prices raised to about $24/plate and as shown in the photos, not worth the price at all. The meats were sitting in the burner, which made the proteins extremely dry, the plantains were sitting out, uncovered and did not look fresh at all, but was still served. Flavors were there, but for the rate it is charged, i would expect the quality and cleanliness to be the same as the other great Jamaican family owned restaurants I've tried. I wish i could leave a better review, but the best feedback I would share with the owner is, as a customer's stand point, the quality and portion served, should match the price charged on the menu. I was at their new location at 4355 desert inn! It's a very cool clean place with a very good location. The walls are colorful coated, there's a 50 inch television playing excellent Nigerian South African and African music videos,.. and the seating is comfortable and adequate.. but most importantly the food is amazing;) I was there for a African club meeting and it's the perfect place to do business but it's also a great place to just come and bring people for excellent Jamaican food. The owner is a great guy very connected in the city and he is an executive chef in conventions at the cosmopolitan hotel.. you can't lose by going here but it's right at the corner of desert inn,... And as of next week or so they'll have an full bar. I recommend it and I definitely plan to go back. I'm training for a fight so I can't go until after August 10th. read more

I had heard so many good things about this place and was longing for some good Curry chicken!!! The portion was very small only the back of the chicken parts!!
