So I was happy to find this place. , Dined in around 2p, so restaurant had a couple of other diners, and server set us immediately and was able to answer a few question before we ordered. Decided to get the bowls which included, rice, protein and a side.. of course we got the Puerto Rican rice, roast pork and fried pork, and plantains. I wanted tostones, but unfortunately it was not available and then I found out the sad news after I asked if they didn't have plantains. I was told that the owner planned to close up shop on Sunday Sept 21. How sad! Decided to then order rellenos papa's and some.mofongo, as I would not get another chance unless I go daily the next 4 days. Everything was good as I remembered. I'm hoping the owner will be able to find another space. It's a cute little dining area. If I lived in Vegas, I would go here every day for dinner! This place is hands down the best. Puerto Rican food I've had. Even my Puerto Rican. Bestie says so. I always pop into this restaurant to eat when I'm in town, and I always seem to order the same thing... I ordered the pernil, which is roasted pork, arroz con gandules, potato salad, and trifongo. The roasted pork was so tender and delicious. I got some of the dark meat pieces, which are my favorite. The trifongo definitely wins the taste test. Trifongo is a Puerto. Rican dish made with green and sweet plantains and mashed together with pieces of fried pork and Chicharrón. My food was so delicious and yummy. I had to leave some of it on my plate, so I wouldn't go into a food coma. As always, the service there is on point and friendly. The host and server does not miss an opportunity to make sure to check up on you and provide water, or whatever beverage you're drinking. They're very sweet and run a pretty efficient shop. The cooks really I did themselves this time! The restaurant is always cleaned... The wait staff is always on top of cleaning the tables, and making sure everything is orderly. The bathroom is also clean. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept, so you can see the cooks in the back, preparing the dishes, including mashing up the plantains to make the trifongo. If you are in town, you must try this place. I recommend the roasted pork and the fried chicken. Of course, if you're looking for something on the smaller side, you can try the trifongo. Be patient though, if they are particularly busy, you may have to wait, and they may be out of some things. Over the years, I've learned to ask what they ran out of. Enjoy! read more

You barely had to chew The perfect bite was a bit of rice, pork and plantain. A bit sweet with a whole lot of savory. Tasty Yums! The husband had the Beef Mofungo. The beef was a bit tough. The Mofungo was savory and hearty and oh so good. Plus the garlic gravy, sauce was amazing! Yes, it was garlic -y. I love garlic so it was right up my alley. Ambience is relaxing, casual. Went here for the first time on Monday after seeing so much post about this place. Very friendly and helpful staff. Must try the specialty sauce:Vinegar & habanero! We had all these in the pictures I'm posting. Really wanted to try mofongo but they didn't have the main ingredient to serve it. It was pretty packed the whole time we sat to dine in. Had some real good Puerto Rican in Las Vegas. The quaint lil restaurant-Sofrito Rico was totally definitely Rico - ( Delicious in Spanish). The vibe was intimate and though they only served wine and beer (I don't consume either) It was a great meal and time. Fabulous! Me and a friend stopped by and had a wonderful lunch. We started with the cola champagne and a sweet tea. That cola champagne is really good! We tried a beef and a chicken empanada. This was my first time ordering food here. I ordered online for pickup. The service was good, my order was ready and nicely packed for pickup. But the food was disappointing. I ordered the rice bowl with the grilled chicken, puerto rican rice and plantains. While having lived in beautiful Puerto Rico in the early 90s I always have been a big fan of the island cuisine and while staying close by I chose Sofrito Rico for my dinner experince. Let me tell you not just is their food unbelievably good but also very cheap! I think nowadays it is unheard of finding a dinner entrees for under $10 The food was ready within the 20 minutes I was told it would be ready. While driving back to my hotel my car all of the sudden was filled with delious flavors including the smell from the beans and the grilled chicken topped with onions. Upon arriving back at my hotel I was in for a big surprise. The food was just wonderful and I enjoyed every single bite. 5 stars for reasonably priced and tasty food and friendly service! read more

I haven't been here in a couple years and was in the area yesterday, 11/13/24 so I decided I had to eat there. I started to place my online order for pickup on their Sofrito Rico website for pickup . The rice bowl went from $10 to now $14.25 and your only side option now are beans and maduros, when they used to offer tostones. I added a relleno de papa and my total was $22.75 because they also automatically add a tip for pickup??? What service is being provided if I am picking up? I then changed my order to Pernil, added the mofongo ($7.50) with a relleno de papa and the total was $29.91 with automatic tip?!!! None of these orders included a drink either. If you order for pickup through Grubhub you will also get different prizes. Grubhub does let you add the tostones as a side if you order the rice bowl. When they first opened, I provided my feedback and let them know that their prizes were too high but I would still pay not only because they're the only Puerto Rican restaurant in Las Vegas but also because because I wanted to support the local business. I was a customer back when they were in that lil bitty mall on Charleston. I also read the recent reviews and it looks like a lot has changed, including the food standards and their service so I changed my mind and canceled my order. I understand that inflation happened so it only makes sense to raise prizes but $30 plus for plantain, rice, and pork? This is just greed and flat out taking advantage of the customers. This means to to just dine in, the average meal is costing about $50, if you're including tip. At best, the average dine in prize should be between $25-30 with drink and tip included. This is just my honest feedback in hopes from an honest customer who has been supporting you since day 1. read more

Very good and authentic puerto rican food, very similar to cuban food! We ordered the Churasco (a must!) it left us wanting more and it was so filling! oh myyyy i will be back here for that Churasco! Also the empanadas are honestly the best empanadas i've had so far, the pizza one was so unique and so cheesy! Yumm definitely a must try too!!! My family and I love sofrito coming from FL I grew up ok Puerto Rican/ Cuban / Caribbean food. This place does it good. We always get the arroz con gandules, habichuelas, pollo à la parilla, pernil, and chuletas à la parilla, empanadas, mofongo, tostones and Maduros. The are pricey but when you're craving food from home. It hits. They remind me of the lechoneras back home. I ordered from the a la carte menu and ordered the pernil which is the roasted pork. For the sides I ordered the yuca en mojo de ajo and the arroz con con gandules which is the yellow rice with peas. The pork was soft l, juicy and tender. The rice was great and the yuca was different from other yuca plates I've had before. The garlic sauce with the onions went great with the starchy yuca. We come here every time we're in LV as there is no mofongo where I live. The food is good enough, and everything is cooked in an open format and made to order. This stop, we enjoyed the tostones, sorullitos, pork, and mofongo. Everything was enjoyable as always except they brought me maduros instead of mofongo the server proceeded to argue with me saying I ordered the wrong thing and initially refused to bring me the mofongo without paying for both. Very rude and disrespectful with a lot of eye rolling. I know I didn't order the wrong thing as the main reason I go there and any PR/DR restaurant is for mofongo. Also the shredded lettuce and tomato that comes on the side was noticeably rotten. There's not a lot of seating inside, so you may have to wait depending on your luck, but it is totally worth it! For my entree, I had the Carne Frita which was fried pork chunks that had a somewhat crispy exterior.
