    Jerk tacos

I tried to like this place and after the 3rd time I think I'll just come here for drinks IF I'm in the area. They should not advertise as Caribbean food because it is nothing close to it. Our server was super sweet and I know it's not her fault . The environment can be fun but the food needs work. Rice & peas; dry "Jerk chicken "- burn & dry & did not taste anything like jerk chicken Fries; good Waffle: cold and stale Shrimp ; good "Jerk tacos": OK Drinks; the best part! Eat before you come to this restaurant because the food is just not there.

Prices are high! High...high! However the food is great! Mac and cheese phenomenal! Rice and peas amazing... chicken!!! Awesome! I got the XL plate. I did not need a to go plate. I demolished the whole plate. If you like plantains you're in luck; because the plantains are really good. I ordered extra plantains. The staff were really nice & professional. I highly recommend Big Jerk if you have a taste for Jamaican food.

Walking in I noticed that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. There are 2 areas off to the side, that I assume are for larger groups or maybe it's their "VIP" area. There is also a small stage next to a DJ booth. There was no DJ when I was there, but that was fine with me. The music that was being played was hip hop. It was songs that I've never heard; however I'm not complaining. I was greeted right away by the hostess and was told to seat myself anywhere there was an open table. It took about 4-5 minutes to be greeted by a server, but when she did come she offered to bring me water. She never asked if I'd been there before, but she did answer the couple of questions I had in regard to the menu. I ordered the jerk chicken tacos (pico de gallo on the side) with a side of fries. It took about 12 minutes to receive my food, the fries came out first then the tacos. I was kinda expecting the tacos to be a little bigger for $10, but the flavor was good. Honestly I'm not sure that I would return, anytime soon. Maybe, if I'm in the area I might stop but I won't go out my way. The place was pretty empty and I still received slow service. The price was a bit much for a small portion of good. Plus side is there is free parking and the place was clean.

The previous reviews almost stopped me from visiting this establishment. I decided to try for myself. I wish I hadn't. Where do I begin? After parking and walking up, the parking lot was riddled with broken glass and trash debris. This was a birthday dinner reservation for 13. Went on a Saturday night expecting a good meal and drinks. The restaurant had two other patrons there apart from our group. The entire time we were there, no one else came in for dinner. The drinks were watered down, they were "out" of nearly everything on the menu, the wait for food was an hour +, the music was loud and they played the same five songs over and over, the women's restroom smelled like raw sewage and had no toilet paper or seat covers. I was REALLY looking forward to some good Jamaican/Caribbean foods & to know that they were out of everything I came for, it was heart-breaking. My party was very disappointed as well. The mac and cheese was not good; it was one note of cheese and nothing more. The XL chicken meal was tiny portions of chicken pieces, one slice of plantain and one festival. The cabbage had no flavor at all. The beef patties were spicy, but lacked depth of flavor. The chicken pasta was delicious; not spicy, but so full of flavor! It was a HUGE portion of pasta with tiny diced pieces of chicken. I was upset that it was listed on the menu with sides, but the waitress told me it didn't come with sides. I wanted to try the mac n cheese so bad, that I opted for the $9.99 side price just to be underwhelmed. Our party was told that the kitchen was out of extra vegetables after our orders were fulfilled. I would have expected better since this was a RESERVED party of 13. We were hoping to make this our designated birthday location, but this cannot be possible. All and all, I will not be going back. The $125 bill was considered my (and my husband) contribution to this local business. I will not be recommending this restaurant either.

Food was good, drinks were okay(a bit too sweet). I'm only giving a 2 star because of the SERVICE. Waitress flashed the bill from screen and we didn't realize that this place puts a 23% gratuity on your bill. So my fiancée actually double tipped her. We always tip a generous amount. After I asked for a printed receipt, she brought it and we never saw her again. I think this practice is POOR customer service. The tip amount added was $24 and he gave her another $40 without realizing she was already tipped. He's a good guy and any other time I would ask for a manager, but he wouldn't let me. We love to support Black businesses, but I also don't like being DUPED!

    Mac and Cheese, jerk salmon

Food here is amazing. Definitely worth trying. Do not sleep on big jerk, I did for a while and been going back and ever since , definitely get the mac & cheese it's amazing& so is their jerk salmon.

    Ronnie M.

2 stars because the food is actually really good. But the service was bottom tier. And the prices were actually crazy for what you get. $33 for this was basically like $10 per wing. I usually have a good time here but them prices is crazy.

    Jerk shrimp with cabbage

The wings tasted more burnt that was overpowering the jerk flavors. The festivals were also overdone. The cabbage was good but did not taste the same in comparison to our previous experience, which made us fall in love with Big Jerk. Our first experience was incredible and we loved everything we ordered. Came back again the next day and still good. Our third time coming was not as good and now our 4th time coming was a disappointment. The food is inconsistent.

Are there still 2 locations? I remember the Sahara location made me uncomfortable, but I can't remember where the original location was?

No unfortunately they only have the location on Sahara. I used to live by the one in Henderson where it was just the restaurant and the food was so good! Now they just have the one.

I ended up choosing House of Dutch Pot. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the owner, Oniel, who welcomed us and quickly seated us with menus. He mentioned that he had a large group to serve (about fifteen people) but reassured us that his waitress would be arriving soon. Oniel took the time to explain the menu, and we placed our drink orders--mine was a pineapple and ginger mix, which turned out to be refreshingly unique. It was such a treat to see options beyond the usual sodas and iced teas. Oh my goodness, food was so good!! I got the combo plate, jerk chicken & oxtails, mac n cheese & grilled veggies. I had little bit of mac n cheese left & two pieces of chicken I took w/me, I ate that later. The ambiance was fantastic: beautiful decorations and Caribbean music playing at just the right volume, creating a lively atmosphere without overpowering our conversations. It's always a plus when you don't have to shout over the music. As the evening went on, the waitress and another cook joined, which was perfect timing since six more guests walked in. The waitress was friendly and pleasant, adding to the overall great experience. Oniel includes a little history about his journey on the menu, which is both interesting and inspiring. He runs the place with professionalism, efficiency, and a genuinely pleasant attitude. I highly recommend House of Dutch Pot to anyone visiting Las Vegas. I will definitely be going back when I visit Las Vegas.
