Came here on a Monday afternoon. Very nice patio to enjoy a cold beer and watch baseball. Think Beerstore with Carryout food. They have Dominican food but its limited to weekends. You go inside order and they bring the food out to you. No indoor seating I love Jerk Food...and I didnt have a crazy appetit. I went with the Chicken Sandwhich it was good. Chicken was a lil dry. It came w optional jerk sauce

Having lived in the area for about two years and passing Jerk House Eatery on a near-daily basis, I figured that I would finally bite the bullet and drop by this spot for a serving of oxtails. Although the restaurant has a patio area with tables, the restaurant felt more like a order your food at a counter, wait, and leave. Since I wanted the full restaurant experience, I decided to stay to consume my food. The patio area has about eight to ten tables, which nice for outside dining. However, the patio is pretty much bordered by the parking lot and a busy section of University Blvd (near Colesville Rd.), so the dining experience was not that great for me because of smoking and loud cars constantly passing by. Also, a couple of the other folks in the patio (probably regular customers) were playing their music WAY too loud for my liking. I will admit that it appears they were there to have a few buckets of beer, hang out, and watch whatever soccer/futbol game was on, so I cannot fault them. If I return, I'll more than likely will grab my food to go and eat my bites in the comfort of my home or make in the park that's down the road. For my dining pleasure, I went with an order of oxtails, which came with two sides. I opted for side orders of cabbage and rice & beans. The plate of food was about $26 without tax and tip. Since oxtails tend to be on the pricey side, I thought the portion size was ok for the area. The food was fine, and I cannot complain too much; however, I did find the food to be a bit bland. Ok, I'm not saying that the food was necessarily bad, but I've Jamaican food from other places that had a bit more POP. However, a little hot sauce will go a long way to making the dish POP. I thought the woman working the counter was nice and very patient. Since I'm area, I more than likely will pop by Jerk House Eatery once and a while primarily out of convenience/proximity more so than food.

First, shout out to the owner Nick! His hospitality and that of the entire staff made the visit worth the while. Not pictured but highly recommended: Jerk chicken with rice and peas, steamed cabbage, and topped with oxtail gravy. Festival Sorrel (freshly made and bottled) When I say that I could not get enough of the food and that this place is authentic! IT IS! To know Caribbean food, be a born Caribbean woman, and to have been raised in Brooklyn, NY...I'm very picky about anything labeled Caribbean because my household cooks it and I grew up around it. This place did not miss one bit on the seasoning, fresh spices/ herbs, and the flavor presented in every bit. The jerk chicken had a nice kick to it and the rice and peas were divine! The festival was only missing a bowl of cornmeal porridge lol but it was so good! Overall, I found my new spot and as soon as their rooftop opens and they start selling breakfast, looks like I will be back!

Yes, please read the reviews first. Our experience was amazing. Our food was made to order so expect a little wait. Came on a Friday afternoon. Great music and love the fact that you can order spirits. I also had the snapper with oxtail sauce over my rice. My first time was meh as well but I'm so glad I came again and tried something different.

Inspect your food before you leave! 2 of the 4 pieces of the chicken smelled spoiled. It's as if the chicken was spoiled before it was cooked or maybe the 2 pieces had been sitting for days. Will never eat there again.

This was the worst oxtail with rice n beans I've ever had. More bones than meat

I SHOULD HAVE READ ALL THE REVIEWS BEFORE WASTING OUR TIME . Please DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. I was so excited to go here for the first time but NEVER AGAIN. Unfortunately, when I go home to eat my Oxtails and rice n peas I was highly disappointed. The oxtails were tough, more bones than meat with rice n beans that had no flavor at all to be a Jamaican restaurant. Nope, Nada !! I couldn't enjoy this at all. I'm sure they needed to be cooked longer. The curry chicken was also disgusting and the bones with chicken was a sight for sore eyes. No curry flavor at all. Real Jamaican's specialty is seasoned food. PERIOD Al!!! No EXCUSES!! I will not recommend this restaurant because I don't want anyone else to be disappointed especially driving a hour to get it. I'm calling my credit union to get my money back on both orders.

The staff was so nice and patient here and the location is very nice but the jerk chicken wasn't what I needed it to be. It was just missing something. I like my jerk chicken to be spicy and this wasn't spicy at all. They gave me a lot of rice tho. The stew chicken was pretty good and the food came out very quickly. The mac and cheese was decent but I just wasn't satisfied with my meal.

My friend just moved to the Silver Spring area and we both like Jamaican food... this place opened fairly recently and it's very close to where he is... so we checked it out! We walked up, and I took note of the abundant green, black and yellow right away. From the parking lot, the first area you see is a bunch of high and low tables in an area covered in that heavy plastic. Didn't see any staff, and it didn't look like there was any service... but AH! It was next to a building and we had to go in there and order separately. The reggae was jammin' in there too -- and there were plenty of beer and wine bottles to choose from, though no prices were visible. I decided to order the jerk shrimp, which was ready in about 20 minutes or so. The Jerk Shrimp had rice & peas and steamed cabbage, and I have to say... it was just alright. There was a LOT of rice & peas, but it wasn't really my favorite -- even with the jerk sauce. It was very sweet... I didn't really get any spice from it at all, and the texture was really light and not thick like the jerk I'm used to. The shrimp at its base was fine, but I just didn't like the jerk sauce. The cabbage wasn't as flavorful as I'm used to, either. The whole platter was $18, which is kind of expensive. It's worth mentioning that the parking lot is VERY tight. We occasionally watched a gridlock in the lot as people tried to go through it. There's no sign or arrow that indicates the traffic in there is one-way, but they should be! Unfortunately, if anyone asked me for local Jamaican recommendations, this place wouldn't be one of my first choices.

Waitstaff was professional and helpful. We first ordered drinks, then starters. We ordered entrées after drinks and starters arrived for good pacing. Several of us shared a Skyfall Cabernet Sauvignon. It was smooth and fruity. We shared pimento cheese dip with veggies and bread triangles, bread basket, burrata and spiced cauliflower. All were excellent, Star was the burrata, so creamy and had pesto with it. My entree was a prosciutto sandwich with fig spread. The sandwich was on ciabatta bread. It held the sweet fig spread, savory prosciutto and soft Brie . Very filling and yummy, and came with crisp fries. Everyone loved their food. Some had dessert and coffee afterwards which was also top notch.

For a wine bar, I expected a slightly more elevated experience…read more I like that there was outdoor seating (It was a beautiful day when we visited), however there was no one to tell us whether to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. I was waiting for my friend to arrive and countless times the staff walked past me without a word or a glance: no greeting, no invitation to see myself, not even asking if I needed help...nothing. Just incredibly unwelcoming. If I hadn't made such a significant time investment trying to secure a parking space, I would have left immediately. After my friend arrived, we flagged down one of the servers who told us that we could seat ourselves outside. We did so and ordered a round of cocktails: an Aperol Spritz for me and Air Mail for my friend, along with a charcuterie board. The seating outside was picnic benches with chipped paint. Our charcuterie board arrived long before our drinks did. We were half done with the board by the time the drinks arrived. The charcuterie board was delivered with no plates and only one napkin for two people. Additionally, because there were no plates, a significant amount of our charcuterie board ended up on the picnic table. The board had lots of items on it and it was very difficult to remove an item or slice some cheese without something else sliding off. The cocktails were decent. Not the best we've had, but also not the worst. They were inconsistent though. The first two I had were much better than the last one, which tasted distinctly different. When we decided to get food, I ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich while my friend got the Cubano sandwich. In most places, when you order a sandwich, fries are included. Not here. But at least my sandwich was served on an aluminum tray. My friend received her sandwich wrapped in paper. No plate; Just wrapped up like it was to-go. Since no fries were included with her sandwich she ordered a side of the chili cheese fries instead. She ate a few of them but I could tell by her face (and the fact that the bowl remained largely untouched after those few initial fries) that they were not good. My sandwich was okay. Just ok. It arrived warm, not hot, so I'm not sure if it was freshly made. Flavor-wise it was a little bland. I think it probably would have been better served just as schnitzel and not as a sandwich. For dessert, I ordered one of their oversized chocolate chip cookies. Again, it was just not good. Chocolate chip cookies are fairly hard to mess up but this one was just... Bad. It had more of a cake-like consistency... And not even very good cake. I took one bite and that was one too many. Between the difficulty finding parking, the general aloofness of the staff, and the terrible food... I'd recommend passing on this place.
