We found parking in the front Main Street but it's only for three hours, however there is also parking available at the back of the restaurant. Restroom was clean but it does have a bit of a restroom smell, and it only has one toilet. My 1st written review ever. Brought an out of town guest in for lunch. She ordered a burger Medium said please have it a bit pink inside. Well done burger and bun had to be removed it was toasted Black( Inedible) She will not return food. Scary stories! I ordered grilled walnut berry bread mock Monty Cristi. Burnt bread black. Sweet potato fries burnt. I sent mine back. Sandwich returned cold bread not grilled at all. Server through her purse lips and not to pleasant attitude came back and removed food from bill. I took my sandwich home to grill myself. I put it into trash as the meat was so dried out it looked like jerky. Refunded money seemed to be the thing to do. We still did not eat so free inedible food was not much consolation . Second terrible food experience so will not return or recommend. The decision for my sister and I to meet here was cemented by the fact that shepherds pie is on the menu. After all, if I am going to finish my book on "Shepherds Pies I have loved, I need to try all of them from coast to coast, right. Nice place in downtown Chelsea, MI on the main drag. Parking on the street and in a lot behind the building. Welcoming hello and we were seated immediately. I did order the shepherds pie (as did my sister) and it was really good, baked hot and delicious. It would be worth a second visit the next time we meet in Chelsea. This is a nice little spot in downtown Chelsea that is good for a cold beer and a bite to eat. The bartender was very nice. The atmosphere is definitely more adult, it's darker and cozier than some of the other places in Chelsea. They have Keno. Which is always a bonus when my friends and I go out. read more

Stopped here to check the place out and to have a beer. It's very dark. You could defenitely sit in there all day and never know what time it is! It's pretty outdated. There was garland in the ceiling and I'm not sure if it's from Christmas or left year round. The bathroom is dingy. I did not try the food. The bartender was very nice. My friend and I ate here about 3:30 today (Sunday). We were told to find our own table so we picked a booth near the front where there was more night. The place is kinda dark and I prefer some light especially natural. It took some time for a waitress to come to our table. In fact, my friend kept moving closer to the end of the table to be sure our wait person saw us. After our waitress came the first time, she provided good service. When it came to the menu, I was certain I wanted a burger but had a difficult time deciding which one. I'm so glad I made the choice I did as it was delish!! I choose the special burger of the day which came on a pretzel bun and had grilled onion, roasted red peppers, jalapeños, mozzarella cheese, and a cilantro garlic sauce! This was an amazing combo and I'd definitely order again. I also loved the sweet potato fries. The dipping sauce was some sort of lightly flavored horseradish sauce. I ate some of it but definitely wasn't necessary with the yummy fries. If I lived near Cleary's, I'd definitely visit again and suggest you give it a try if in the area. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch last Saturday. Seated right away and the place was pretty busy. Samantha was our server and she was very friendly. I decided to try some apps so I ordered the chips and salsa, potato skins, and beef noodle soup. My wife ordered the corned beef sandwich. Samantha brought the chips and salsa first. This was a terrible choice. The chips were generic at best. Very hard and no seasoning. The salsa was a Tostitos out of a jar type. Did not care for this at all. Then Samantha brought out the tater skins and my wife's sandwich. She also proceeded to tell me that someone forgot to put the noodles in the beef noodle soup and they were adding them now. Sort of humorous don't you think? Tater skins were good and hot. Soup came out shortly after and it was not memorable. The beef was tender is all I can recall. My wife said her sandwich was just ok and the corned beef was not special. Might try Clearys again but I think we will hit someplace else the next we are in Chelsea. read more

A fun pub with great service. Portion sizes were interesting as some were smaller and some were larger but the quality was quite good.

We have been there two times this week for work lunches; which should tell you that we liked it the first time! This pub is right in downtown Chelsea. Service was very good and the place was fairly busy. We were 4 of us and the 1st time I got Taco salad with Chicken - It was good. The next day I took the Shrimp Tacos with Sweet potato fries; two of my mates got the Avocado BLT and they liked it. Their Tuna salad and Ruben came out to be good too. I wouldn't consider this a destination for food (although, it's clear by the crowds that many do!), but if you're having a few pints, there are food options. Went to Cleary's Pub for lunch after a bike ride. The club sandwich was pretty standard. I upgraded to waffle fries and they were perfectly cooked. I don't like soggy fries. Crispy fish pared with marvelous French fries, sweet potato fries or a loaded mashed potato. A refreshing avocado chicken wrap with roasted red pepper that had tender chicken and fresh ripe avocados. The soup and fried fish sandwich was delightful, and the kid's grilled cheese was entirely reasonable. Our waitress was friendly, as were the other patrons. Too many TVs for my taste. The men's room is a little tricky to navigate --- there's a little wall to semi-enclose the door, and it's a tight fit while holding a preschooler --- but clean and well-stocked. Monday evening visit for an early dinner. It's been awhile since my last visit and I was glad to see the menu had been updated with new dishes and better options. I went for the Blackened tenderloin and tortellini. The menu said it was on a sun-dried tomato cream sauce, but arrived with a pesto cream sauce instead. I am was pleasantly surprised at the switch. The dish was excellent. The meat is cooked to temp, and a good size portion. For $18.99 it also comes with a salad and texas garlic toast. They have REALLY good garlic toast. Very buttery. We picked the fried ice cream for dessert, but it should be called the almond joy fried ice cream. Rolled in cornflakes, coconut and almonds - so good! The interior was updated years ago and now it feels a bit roomier. It's still a small pub but with the upgrade to the menu, it will be a regular stop for us again. The happy hour specials are almost non-existent but if you press to know what they are, I believe it's $1 off domestic drafts, well drinks and $2.99 chips and salsa. TVs are everywhere, and the bar has comfortable seating. If you haven't been in a while, maybe it's worth another visit now. read more

Had the worst lunch. I took my family there for lunch today, everybody's burger buns were burnt I mean chared. How can the kitchen staff not see that, guess they don't care what they serve. I stopped in Cleary's Pub after walking around town for a bit. The salmon gyro caught my eye. It was a HUGE piece of broiled salmon placed on cut pita bread, with lettuce, tomato and tzaziki sauce. Such a good combination! I was only able to eat half of it, which means that I get to enjoy the other half later! My only criticism of the sandwich is that it was a bit awkward to hold. I did cut it in half, and a bit of the fish slipped out. Perhaps putting it in a folded (rather than cut) pita would make it easier. read more

Cleary's is a great local spot to grab a drink or dinner. The people that work here are very nice and it never seems too hard to find parking downtown. The food here is pretty good with some being better than others. The salad with tuna steak is my family's favorite and the cilantro dressing is great. The chimichanga is pretty good (as long as they don't put too much jalapeños on it). The Cajun pasta with chicken and sausage was not as great as it sounded for the price. At about $18 it's overpriced for what you get, the sausage was minimal and didn't taste as good as other Cajun alfredo pastas I have had. Overall I definitely recommend Cleary's if your going to dinner in Chelsea if your looking for a fun casual atmosphere with great service! read more

Very fast and friendly service. My husband and I split the Reuben sandwich. We both said "The BEST Reuben sandwich, ever! The corned beef was so juicy, tender and tasty! The prices have risen greatly but that is everywhere. The service was flaky---had to ask for everything & not checked on during meal. We hadn't been here in years & I understand why. The food is just not good. The burgers were overcooked, as other reviews stated. And just no flavor. Same for the fish. The portions were on the smaller side as well.
