I consider myself a sandwich aficionado and Jerry's rises to the top. The bread was crunch, flakey and fresh. The garlic aioli on the Rachel C is some of the most savory food I've eaten. LB's skirt steak sandwich was soooo good with the chipotle sauce on top. House chips were 10/10. Could not stop stealing from LB's plate. Massive menu ensures that there is something for everyone. Five stars for the sandwiches. Zero stars for the performance art at the hostess stand. I've eaten here twice. The food is consistently excellent. Unfortunately, so is the hostility. Both times I came in to pick up a to-go order, the hostess greeted me with the kind of expression you'd expect if I'd just offended her. I gave her my name--Ryan--and both times she confidently informed me there was no order for Ryan, dismissed me, and acted as though I had wandered into a private event instead of a restaurant where I had literally paid for food. The second visit somehow managed to top the first. After being treated rudely yet again, I made the outrageous decision to tell her she was being rude. Rather than doing something radical like apologizing or checking on my order, she followed me outside onto a crowded sidewalk, yelling at me to "say that to her face." A male employee joined the spectacle, scolding me while she continued shouting after me in front of customers eating outside. I've never had a takeout order come with complimentary public humiliation and a sidewalk shouting match. The truly ironic part is that the sandwiches are good enough that I wanted to become a regular. Instead, I've learned that ordering takeout here comes with the chance of being treated like you're not welcome and humiliated. People remember how you make them feel. This is a nice little restaurant with a good variety of food. They have real Wisconsin breaded cheese curds, which are real and property made with very light breading and they're actually made from real cheese curds and not cheese cubes like some places offer. They were delicious. We also had the Korean Seoul burger, which was delicious. It came with 2 sides of your choice and we got fries and the slaw with kale. Unfortunately the slaw with kale has way too much cream in it. I had to drain it and dump some out. I don't mind slaw and I don't mind creamy slaw, but I don't like coleslaw soup! I got the DAGWOOD B, and let me tell you... this thing is a full-on architectural achievement. Roast turkey, root beer ham, Swiss, pickles, chipotle chutney, pimento cheese, corned beef, fried shrimp, bacon, avocado, cilantro, red onion, lettuce, southwest mayo... what's not to love? It literally has everything. I couldn't tell where it started or where it ended... it was just one glorious mountain of flavor, and it tasted exactly as amazing as that ingredient list suggests. The beer list is huge... a pint for every possible pleasure. The sides, though... super mid. The mac and cheese was cold, and the corn elote was about 5/7ths butter. If you've ever come to Lincoln square- you know parking is always a problem. You'll look for parking longer than you will wait in line to get seated. Was very lucky to find parking right away but thus place is also easily accessible by train, bus or walking. Located in the heart of Lincoln Square, I Came here for lunch with a friend of mine. I ordered half of a sandwich (skirt steak) and their squash soup- my friend ordered a chicken sandwich with squash soup. my toddler already ate so he just had juice. The atmosphere was really nice/ not too crowded but there were a few people who were on zoom/team calls but they didn't bother us. The food came relatively quickly and the portions were decent for the price. It was all very delicious- the squash's soup blew me away how good it was. plus the view from our window was so quaint and cozy- makes me want to come back when the snowing outside just to watch the snow fall as I work remote. With so many restaurants closing in the Lincoln Square area, I finally decided to retry Jerry's. It had been at least 8 or 9 years, since the last time I came here, they served a chicken sandwich which was still raw in the middle. Luckily, I will say my experience was better than the prior occasion. However, I can't say my mind was fully blown. One thing I will commend Jerry's for is their extensive beer list. Paired with their delicious cheese curds, I can see myself coming here frequently for a beer and a snack. For sandwiches, we ordered the Ansel (buffalo chicken sandwich) and the brisket sandwich (special) with horseradish sauce. For sides, we got the potato salad, mashed potatoes with poblano gravy, mac and cheese and the greens with vinegarette. The buffalo sandwich was decent, and I would not mind ordering it again. The brisket sandwich was a let down. The beef was too thick and chewy. Some parts were flavorless and other parts were almost too salty. For sides, the mac and cheese was dry and tasteless. I couldn't eat more than a single bite. The potato salad was standard and is a decent option to order. The mashed potatoes were OK. The gravy had good flavor but was a bit thin, giving cafeteria vibes. The salad is a total pass. It's literally lettuce with too much dressing. I do wish Jerry's upped their consistency game. During my first visit to Jerry's a couple of years ago, I ordered one their sandwiches. I was mainly craving breakfast food during my most recent visit a few days ago. I ordered the quiche of the day and also cheese curds. The cheese curds here are really good! The quiche of the day was one with 3 or 4 different types of vegetables. The filling and crust on the quiche were both great. I wouldn't put the quiche at Jerry's above other places in Chicago like la boulangerie or bang bang pie, but still a solid 8/10. I am a fan. I see what Jerry's did here, kicked up typical lunch foods with an artisan touch. I am here for it. We were greeted and sat immediately and for lunch time, this place was bustling. We got the cheese curds and they were good but they had all stuck together. The seasonal butternut squash was divine and would eat that everyday of the week. The sandwiches where very good. Everything tasted fresh. Perfect place to catch a great lunch in the Lincoln Square neighborhood. Pricing was congruent with the area. Paid parking is available with the diagonal spots. Service was great. I plan to revisit again soon. They also are attached to another coffee shop (Gertrude's is what I think it's called) that serve pastries and coffees. read more

So I've been a fan of Jerry's since the days when I would frequent the Andersonville location. And I have to say the food is always great. I'm a huge fan of their salads, as well as of the sandwiches, and have never had anything I would say was not good. Though today my streak salad just felt a little sad...but it still tasted delicious, but was oddly small compared to the size of the salads normally. My friend joked that maybe they got bigger bowls. In the Lincoln Square location, I have always felt the service was a little hit or miss. Don't get me wrong, the waitstaff is always friendly and tries their best. However it just always feels like they are one of two people short, making the staff always appear stressed and chaotic. Today was better than most of our recent visits, but still felt like our server was pulling more than his share of the service...but he was a trooper and this isn't about him. The issue I had today that lowers the rating is the volume of the music. And I don't want to be that "would you kids turn it down" guy, but today was a lot. We were in the back area behind the bar and bathroom entrance, and the volume was almost unbearable. I love music and am fine normally, but today it just seemed overly loud. Everyone in the area we were in was having to yell, and pretty soon I developed a headache. Some songs were lower volume, but just when you felt it was subsiding, another blast would blare and everyone would start screaming to talk to table mates. On the plus side, hearing The Stooges and 13th Floor Elevators in a restaurant is kind of great...just maybe a little less volume. This is the first time in a while I've come around lunch on the weekend, so maybe this is the norm, but just felt excessive. Surprisingly unpleasant. In their defense, they were busy and obviously under staffed. But our waiter was hostile and unpleasant. When we asked him to split the check, that's when the fireworks erupted. There were 5 of us, and the waiter brought the manager over to the table to explain to us in no uncertain terms that they could only split the check 3 ways, despite the fact that we said from the beginning that we wanted separate checks. My sandwich was made incorrectly which isn't a problem, but it took over 10 minutes to flag down a waitress to fix it. They were very apologetic and everything ended up fine although I wish the waitress would've checked in after delivering our food. The location is great, right on Lincoln Square with a cute courtyard patio. The inside ambiance is pretty noisy and unremarkable. This whole place is just so relaxing to just sit in. it's never too loud, and there's even space to eat outside and enjoy the scenery there. The employees and hosts are super sweet and are always around if you need something more or are ready to take the check. Lemonade is super good- it's got a LOT of ice though but you know thats how they get you. The burger is probably one of my favorite burgers I've had thats costed me more than my usual go-to's but getting two sides makes it worth it.
