Wonderful experience! We took three kiddos. There are no age limits so bring your littles. The kids love it. Be sure to dress in layers as it's cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon. Wear a hat, it's entirely in the sun allllll day. Having a baseball cap makes a huge difference. Load up on sunscreen too as the water reflection can turn you into a crisp. Bring water to drink and snacks for kiddos. Depending on the trip you take, you'll get to stop for a snack and stop for lunch too, but my kids do better with more snacks. If you don't want to be soaked, buy a poncho. If you don't mind getting soaked then skip it. The trip is so worth the money. You'll have fresh air and see a ton of wildlife. Gold Beach, OR is about 7 hours north of San Francisco.... Frankly in my mind anything on the Southern Coast of OR is worth driving to.... I've always wanted to take a ride down the Rogue River on one of jet boats. This last trip to Brookings, OR I decided to treat myself to a day on the river. The boat probably holds about 45 people. They have 3 different trips you can take, 64 mile, 86, and 103. Straight up the river.... where you see some of the most beautiful scenery and wildlife you could imagine. Bald Eagles in the wild, Otters, Bears, Deer, Elk.... fish that jump out of the water as you speed by... Blue Hereon.... I had so much fun. The 64 mile trip is round trip. 32 miles up river there is a little town called Agnes, OR and they have 3 restaurants to pick from. You stop there for an 1 1/2 for lunch. The population of Agnes is 65 people. After a nice lunch you get back on the boat and go back down river. It was a wonderful adventure and I highly recommend if you ever happen to find yourself on the Southern Oregon Coast and want to try something different. read more

Folks, it just doesn't get any better than this! Scenery, thrills, good food and lots of laughs make this a must-do activity if you are near Gold Beach. My lovely wife and I took a weekend trip to Gold Beach specifically for this boat ride. It was worth every penny! We booked our 104-mile trip online in advance. Check-in was as easy as walking in the door with a bewildered look on my face. The nice lady with the iPad made sure we had tickets and showed us to the free loaner windbreakers as well as telling us where to line up for our trip. We boarded around 8:15am so it was a little chilly and we were thankful for the coats and blanket for the first few miles upriver. Darin was our pilot from Gold Beach all the way up to the 52 mile mark, then back down to Agnes for lunch. His first mate, Agnes (Aggie) the dog kept careful watch over us for the whole trip, even sitting on some of our laps from time to time. She was sweet! Darin's dry wit and sense of humor are hilarious! Ask him about salt licks for seagulls! He is clearly an expert pilot even though he continually jokes about this being his first day. His mastery of navigating the rapids is amazing! Not to mention his ability to safely park the boat in one spot in pretty turbulent water to allow the rafts to pass. The whole river is fun, but zipping through the rapids and narrow channels is a huge thrill! You will get wet on pretty much any of their trips as the spray from the spins will likely get you. The rafters with water guns we're lots of fun too! We had a number of friendly water fights on our trip. Let me just say that when you have 1100 horsepower of jet boat on your side, you win every time! There is plenty to see all the way up and down the river. We saw lots of juvenile and adult bald eagles, osprey and water fowl. We even saw a black bear and her cub briefly. The rugged terrain alone is breathtaking. We had lunch in Agnes on our way back down. The service is friendly and the food is good! You get plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery before heading back down river. Our pilot going down was Jim. Don't let his kindly manner fool you. This guy got us completely soaked which was welcome on a 90 degree day! there was a breeze coming up river so he just hit the "brakes" which shoots a wall of water out the front of the boat. The wind carried that entire wall up and over the boat and drenched us all! It was great fun! We also followed an osprey and an eagle up river for a bit as they worked out a disagreement. That was pretty cool to see. Right before getting into port at Gold Beach, we idled around as a fisherman brought in a huge salmon. What a bonus! Thank you to Darin and Jim for such a fun day. We were the first 80 mile boat of the day on 8/22/16 and we (my wife and kids, 5 &7 years old) were given the tour by Kevin. He is the grandson to Jerry of Jerry's Jetboats. He stopped along the route to point out a vast array of birds, nests and animals we spotted. He gave stories about his grandfather Jerry and the history of the Jetboats. He showed us rare species of plants and told us all about them. He even spotted a Bald Eagle and made sure we could all view it well by drifting around trees that were in our way. Best of all, he asked if we wanted the tour or the TOUR. We all chose the TOUR, and by that he will explain extra details, funny stories and most importantly he went up and down the biggest rapids several times to get us all soaked! It was great. We stopped at the Couger Lane Lodge and we had the Mango BBQ pulled pork, it was delicious! The kids got burgers and hot dogs which were rated highly by the kids. Overall, it was an awesome experience, so much so we've already planned on doing the 104 mile journey next year and hopefully we'll get Kevin again! read more

I hate to give a 3 star rating because overall our experience was great, but there was one thing that put a damper on our trip. We did the 64-mile tour and it sounded like they overbooked the tour by 2 people. Those 2 people weren't there, so we picked them up a mile or two down the river. Those 2 adults got sat in our row, causing our 6yr old sitting on my husbands lap. It was fine at first, but my husbands leg started to fall asleep and my son started to get uncomfortable. We stopped for the hour break and had lunch: the food was ok, the blackberry cobbler though was pretty delicious. We got back on the boat (everyone in the same seats). My son did not want to sit on my husbands lap again, so we were able to just barley squeeze him on the bench, but he couldn't sit all the way back, so again he was uncomfortable and my husband and I were uncomfortable too. It just put a damper on the whole trip. I didn't think it was fair that our 6yr old didn't have a seat, even though we paid for one. If it wasn't for the over booking it would have been 5 stars. The Captain was great, very friendly and informative and the spins he did was a lot of fun. read more

Jerry's Rogue Jets does not disappoint. I have been on the Hellgate tour from Grants Pass which is the northern part of the Rogue River. It was so much fun! I did not think Jerry's from the southern part of the river would compare. Well it did and more! It starts out riding up the river calmly, pointing out lots of wilderness and giving you some history. They dock you in Anders for a 20 minute break. After, you get on the boats and put on your life jacket...now it's time to get wet and wild! You go the rest of the way up, turn around, get some delicious food and head back for more fun and dock! These guys are very skilled at what they do and are super knowledgeable! Check them out! Great day of fun for the family, with a significant other, or a solo adventure! The staff is fun and friendly. Jeff is an expert river guide who provides a good mix of history along with his personal experiences of the river. The natural beauty of the river is both refreshing and peaceful. We saw lots of great wildlife (otters, seals, deer, bears, eagles, etc). I recommend the 104 mile trek as it allows to access the best parts of the river. Lunch was great. Turned our vacation around! Had lots of fun doing spins and splashing in the rapids. Thanks to the manager lady for checking in with me after I had vented to her. (I wish I were better with names) It is worth the cost. If you can afford $20+ dollars a plate plan on a delicious meal at the restaurants but I am so glad they have picnic options too for those traveling more frugally. Everyone should try this! Why not give five stars? The one bad part. Do not choose Singing Springs as your meal option. The food was mediocre and way over priced. However the service was horrible. The employees seemed annoyed we were even there. There is not a gluten free menu as advertised. When we purchased our tickets the lady was pushing the other option so I assume this is why. This is a must tour and you should do the 104 mile trip it's the best!! You have to remember the drivers are people and with that comes different personalities so each driver is different. I know from experience we had two different drivers on our trip, first one was very good about spotting wildlife and very courteous on the water the second one did awesome spins & dips to get us wet. My suggestion is make sure to talk with your driver before starting and let him know what you want and encourage the rest of your boat to do the same. They all want you to have an awesome experience. Lunch was good at Singing Springs but you don't have to have the buffet you can order off their menu. read more

I am an active, outdoorsy person who frequently goes on multiday rafting trips in the wilderness. As such, I was highly skeptical of taking a daytrip on a jet boat. However, it was really really fun. The scenery is beautiful and the captains are great at soaking you just the right amount on a hot summer day to keep things pleasant and cool. You might also see some wildlife (we saw deer and bear). A few tips: 1. We did the longest trip, which I highly recommend. 2. Bring warm clothes for the first few miles but be prepared to strip once you get inland a bit - it's hot!!! 3. Bring your own lunch/dinner - you can buy food at some of the stops but it seemed not worth the money. 4. DO bring some money to buy a beer for the stop in the afternoon, though! read more

Jerry's Rogue Jets bought the Mail Boats, so this is now the only business in Gold Beach offering jet boat tours of the Rogue. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you, as Jerry's offers the same tours as the Mail Boats and the drivers are just as fun! Because we had six people (and I was the only one who had ever done this tour before) in our group we opted for the 60 mile round trip tour. While not as exciting as the 80 or 104, it was still great fun. The tour makes the same stops up river for lunch as the last company I toured with, and I guess my only complaint is the amount of time we had for lunch. At least 1.5 hours! Far too long in my book, but I think they provided such a long break because this particular tour is for 'relaxing'. I highly suggest booking a trip if you're in the area! read more

Holy. Eff. This was the gnarliest boat ride I've ever been on but it was also the best. Adrenaline-filled 4.5 hrs and TOTALLY worth it! Kevin, our tour guide, had us hanging between sheer elation and slight terror most of the ride. If you go with him be prepared to get SOAKED. I only found this on my second visit to Gold Beach. I wish I would have found it sooner. What a great way to spend the day on the river. Basically, you choose how long you want to be on the river (they have a few choices) then you choose where you want to stop and eat (there are 3 choices) then you get on the river and go! Amazing time. Hands down one of the most fun days I've had in a long time. I don't call Disneyland fun, standing in line for hours, no thanks. BUT this is fun. We took the 80 mile one at 2:15, recommended for the nice warm weather. Getting wet was a blast. We saw Blue Herins, a baby bear, pond turtles, a bald eagle, ospreys, and a deer. I am pretty sure John Carl has the eyes of a hawk, he spotted them all as we were flying down the river A must do! I'll seldom give anything a 5-star rating, but Jerry's Rogue Jets deserves it. This outfit is a class act from ticketing to leaving. Everything is smooth, easy and enjoyable. The Jet Boats are not overloaded. We had ample room to take pictures, get wet and move around. Our tour guide and pilot, Travis, was simply amazing. He pointed out lots of stuff that was historical or just interesting. He even made stuff up, which was hilarious. The boats are fast... So it's a lot of fun and excitement. Travis has a great eye for wildlife. We stopped for Osprey, Bald Eagles, Otters, Seals, Black Bear and Turtles. The scenery on our 80 mile trip was wild and beautiful. Every so often we would do a 360-spin out which was a lot of fun and wet! At the upper end of the trip, we ran several rapids which was also an e-ticket ride and wet! Just pur fun. At lunch, we chose our meal at Lucas Lodge, one of 3 choices. We used Yelp to pick Lucas Lodge and we're not disappointed. Lunch is served ranch/family style. We got a ton of food that tasted like it was all grown at the Lodge. Fresh and tasty chicken, potatoes, corn, beans, biscuits, salads, cucumber salad and ice cream with fresh berries, and more! Super cold in the morning/beginning so make sure to bring a sweatshirt (I wore two cause a get very cold easily) The restaurant is very good I don't recommend bringing a sack lunch Bring layers! It does heat up but is windy and chilly when riding. Be prepared to get wet. I wore a poncho for the last half cause the rapids are pretty intense and depending on your driver you may get even more wet. Wonderful wildlife. Bring binoculars! Deer, bear, birds, and ducks. Can go very fast and be windy, so tie your hat tight and hair back!! Super fun. Good luck or have fun!! read more

We took the 64 mile scenic trip, non-whitewater, it was AMAZING!!!! We saw 2 adult bald eagles, 2 baby bald eagles, a one year old bald eagle, a lot of osprey and herons. The boat pilot, Sean, was hilarious! We did a lot if 360 turns, super fun! We sat in the front middle, it was the best! The lunch at Cougar Lodge was awesome, I had the brisket plate with salad with homemade Dijon dressing, fantastic!!! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans, great! The homemade berry cobbler with ice cream was to die for!!! The lodge overlooks the river, its gorgeous! Next time we want to try the whitewater excursion. Our trip was pretty hot, we wish we had brought shorts, pack for cold or hot! Bring water, binoculars, sun screen, camera/phone, snack, jacket, pants, shorts, and hat! read more

Fantastic trip! We took the long trip which ran about 6.5 hours total. That included one stop for bathrooms (real bathrooms!), drinks and snacks, and a stop for lunch in the way back at the same place. John, the captain, took time to point out bald eagles, deer, blue heron and many more wildlife out on the river. Also provides info on the history of the river and various spots of interest. Highly recommend. They provide jackets (take one!) Or bring one. It is very cool and windy on ride back. Bring a backpack with water and snacks, and don't forget sunscreen. It is sunny and warm. Lunch is an all you can eat buffet that costs $18 plus tip. You can buy beer, wine, soda, water or iced tea with your meal. You will get wet! Not horribly and you'll dry out quickly from the sun. read more
