We had an amazing time took our kids and grandkids. We saw all kinds of wildlife bears,deer,seals and an assortment of birds. Amazing time with my family. Loved this ride and the tour guide. Fun for all ages and was very safe. Had many different ages on our boat and all had good times. Saw elk, seals, otters, eagles and deer and babies. Guide had great information about the history of the rogue river. Great scenic views of the canyon, river and bridges. The ride was not super intense as my 6 year old daughter had as much fun as my 68 year old father. The food at the lodge was great and the drink there were just as good. So much fun!! Our guide, Travis, took us on the Bay Cruise and he was a combo of fun, friendly, good sense of humor and informative. A couple of things I'd recommend is dress in layers (it went from windy ocean air to warm river fun real quick!) and bring a bottle of water because 2 hours without it stinks. Celebrating our 30th Anniversary, Jerry's Jet Boats made our it a memorable one. From picking up tickets to boarding(assisting my hubby on was so much appreciated) to our Navigator Kevin, so professional. Definitely take a ride if you are in or near Gold Beach. We took the 64-mile scenic non-white river mail run. Kevin was our pilot and was fabulous. His grandfather was Jerry, the original owner/operator of Jerry's Jetboats, so we were treated to personal stories about his grandfather and the history of the company. The views along the river are absolutely breathtaking. We saw bald eagles, osprey, seals and sea otters, egrets and blue herons. There were moments of excitement, too. We were treated to 360 degree turns, which managed to delight all and soak a few. (Leave your expensive cameras home, unless you have some sort of waterproofing.) Dress in layers, you start off in coastal cool, but soon enter inland heat. Overall, worth the price of admission. read more

We decided to stop at Gold Beach for a couple days on our way to California. I looked on Yelp for fun things to do and Jerry's Rogue Jets was number one! We didn't have a lot of time so we booked the 2 hour cruise. We had a blast! All three kids, aged 10,14 and 16, enjoyed it very much. The captain was very knowledgeable about the area, quite funny and made the ride even more enjoyable. He was also very respectful of all the others enjoying the river, slowing down for the kayakers and fishermen. I was concerned someone might get motion sickness but it was a surprisingly smooth ride most of the way. Definitely wear layers! The trip started off cool in the Bay but heated up as you go up river. The dog is drowning. That's how it appeared, but it is just a normal day in the life if you are a dim dog whose owner pilots a jet boat. Every morning he scares the tourists and the staff reassures them by saying, "Don't worry. He does this all the time." Jerry's certainly has everything down to a pretty smooth routine. We made a reservation in advance since we had a very specific itinerary and checked in the night before to make the process easy for our early morning departure. You have three choices to make: type of ride (64-mile scenic trip or 80- or 104-mile whitewater trip), time of day (morning, mid-day or afternoon) and where to eat in the small town of Agness. After discussing the differences between the 64- and 80-mile trips with the staff we went for the longer ride so it included white water. Both take the same amount of time (6 hours), but the scenic trip turns around at Agness, so you miss the Watson Creek and Two Mile rapids. The ride was fun, but the humor was painful at times. During our trip the Rogue River was also full of fishermen, so out of courtesy (which I really appreciate when I'm paddling), the jet boat will slow down to prevent a wake, so there is a lot of stop-and-go. Even the whitewater section was pretty tame. There are plenty of 360s, but we didn't get as wet as I expected. I was really surprised that there were people on the boat that didn't want to get wet at all. You do realize you're on a jet boat, right? My tips are to dress warmly, but in layers. It started off cool at the coast, then warmed up considerably inland. Baseball hats and visors will blow off so wear a skull cap or hood and tie your hair back. They will loan you insulated jackets (all size XL) for the ride and that combined with wool blankets on the boat kept us cozy. Wildlife viewing was great. Many types of birds of prey, harbor seals, even a couple bears. We also saw the Fish & Game folks doing a survey and they showed us different varieties of fish they were measuring in the river. It all left me very impressed at how unspoiled and rich with life the Rogue River still is. Thank you Wild and Scenic Rivers Act for protecting this natural wonder! Some smart folks on our boat brought a picnic. Otherwise, you have to preselect one of three restaurants in Agness after looking at the menus. The meal price is not included in your ride and they have separate docks, so you are stuck once you make your decision. We ate at Cougar Lane Lodge and my parents at Singing Springs a few months back. It will be pretty expensive for what you get, but you are out in the wilderness without other options, so next time I think I'll pack lunch. I really enjoyed the ride, but considering the price, there were actually other activities that left a bigger impression on our family. Next time my fingers are crossed for a more rambunctious and less chatty river pilot. And we'll bring beer. read more

Woo! Cubs! Woo! Cubs! What an amazing adventure! We took the 104 mile trip up the Rogue River and saw all kinds of wildlife. You name it, we saw it. Deer, Seals, Peregrine Falcon, Bald Eagles, dozens of Blue Herons, ducks, Osprey (even one with a fish in its talons) and bears with cubbies. It was such a fun experience. The jet boat was comfortable, even though there were about forty of us sitting along the benches. We bounded our way upriver spinning around rocks and splashing through the rapids, stopping for the assortment of wildlife we encountered along the way. The journey was broken up by our stop for lunch and we enjoyed the buffett there. Where the early part of this was like a safari, the second part was an amusement park ride. You'll surely get wet past Agness when you go over stage 3 and 4 rapids. Sit in the front or the sides if you want to get splashed. The jet boat itself is a cool piece of machinery that reminds me of those airboats that float across the bayou. No prop, it works on an intake system where water passes through a pump and then shoots out the back of the boat. This allows it to skim across the water at high speeds. Our pilot was an ace and steered us with the utmost precision. We shot across rapids, swerved all about the width of the river and did 360s spins all day around rocks and other obstacles. He seemed to be having as much fun as we were as we came within inches of stick and rocks at top speed. We had such a blast and didn't get too wet, though you'll want to layer up and wear something that dries out quickly. So much fun! Pickup and drop off right at the dock at our lodge. Something you've got to do when in Gold Beach. read more

Really nice day today with our skipper Kevin. Booked the 64-mile route tour. Scenery was beautiful especially as the sun came out and the weather got warmer. Kevin did a good job as our tour guide describing the wildlife and the surroundings. Even mixed in a bunch of personal stories about his family and the history of the business. Boat ride was very relaxing and he also mixed in some 360 degree spins which was fun. We chose to make the stop at the Cougar Lodge for lunch so we could order off a menu. My wife and I shared the BBQ sampler which was a mix of brisket, pork, cornbread, and corn on the cob. We included fries and bbq beans for the sides and added chicken. It was a nice lunch and we ate outside on the patio. Service was good and after we finished our meal, we had plenty of time for a slow walk back to the boat. All in all a great experience. This was my second time on Jerry's Jets ( the first was over 20 years ago!) and they never disappoint. I can't wait to come back. This time I won't wait 20 years! John was our driver and he really made our trip interesting. We booked the longest tour and it was worth every penny. You get to see so much wildlife and natural beauty. It's quite spectacular. The spinouts and water cannons are fun too. Our BBQ lunch was so good. I am handicapped and have great difficulty walking. I was able to make the walk down the ramp to the boat with the help of my friends. At the BBQ, I had to walk a short distance down a gravel path, but a shuttle was there to take me up to the restaurant and back down. To make your trip more comfortable, I would suggest bringing your jacket for the morning, a dry bag, sunglasses, sunscreen, a waterproof bag for your phone if you plan on using it to take pictures, a waterproof poncho if you don't want to get wet, a waterbottle, and some snacks....and if you forget anything, I'm pretty sure you can find it in their large gift shop. read more

What a wonderful time we had during our trip up the Rogue River with Jerry's Rogue Jets. We did the 64 mile trip, which was all that was available in mid September. Overall, rapids were pretty small and not what I was expecting. Super overpriced and quite boring for what you get. Very little wildlife--a few birds and some turtles. They have a monopoly in the area, but if you can make it instead, go to Hellgate Jetboat Excursions in Grants Pass. So much more fun and better rapids. read more

This was my third and best Jet Boat ride yet. Brandon was our capitan in the Mail Boat Osprey. He gave us a great ride on the Whitewater trip.... enough excitement and just got us a little damp. We saw wildlife! 5 Elk (1 single, then 4 in a group), 3 bears (2 cubs, 1 momma), otters, Bald Eagles, river turtles, Osprey, turkey vultures, a sea lion, 2 black tailed deer (dies), egrets, ducks, geese, heron, 3 hillbillies in a raft (seriously, I could almost hear dueling banjos playing in the background as they floated past going down stream), swallows, lots of trees,and lots of water. If we could give this 10 stars we would. My husband and I wanted to go on the whitewater trip but were informed the river had dropped too low prior to our arrival. They offered us the mail run trip which is about 40 miles shorter. Upon arrival the staff were friendly and operations were well organized. Our boat captain was very knowledgeable of the area and entertaining. The stop at Cougar Lane in Agnes for Rogue River BBQ was fantastic. Staff there was extremely attentive and friendly. I would give this company 6 out of 5 if I could. This was the last day of our vacation on the Oregon coast. It was a last minute decision that I am so glad we made. We went on the shortest of the trips, a 64 mile round trip tour up the Rogue River. Firstly it was value for money at $50 per person for the 4 hour round trip. Shaun was an excellent guide and pilot telling us lots of interesting facts about the river and it's wildlife. We got to Agness in time for a wonderful Taco lunch at the Cougar Lane Lodge. This was not included in the price and we had taken a light lunch with us but so glad we decided to support this business. The food was excellent, fresh and tasty. Our trip back was so much fun. Shaun spun the boat a few times and braked hard so we got sprayed with the water. This was great and we dried off pretty quickly as it was really warm. I would say go dressed in layers as it is cooler when you begin and get back but up at Agness the temperatures were hot. You do get pretty wet so clothes that dry quickly would be best. As I a said I cannot recommend this company enough. And their gift shop was very reasonably priced too. If you are debating whether to take this trip or not just do it. I really don't like to give negative reviews, but my expectations were not quite met from this experience. The weather was gloomy and rainy but as an Oregonian, I feel most comfortable in that type of weather so I can't blame the negative experience on that. The staff was mostly really great, the boats were well kept and I at no point felt unsafe. We were on the scenic 'mail' route which was great, we had the opportunity to see a lot of great species of animals. Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, Ospreys, Herons, Bald Eagles, "Fish" Ducks as the guide called them, as well as an assortment of other wildlife. The guide seemed knowledgable and experienced. He did multiple 360 degree turns and for the most part (besides the rain) kept us dry and provided a tarp in case we needed to cover ourselves better. I give this review three stars for one reason that I just can't shake. The food we had the option of paying for was (in my opinion), very distasteful. I know that it was served as completely gluten free, but I just don't care and don't get why. Maybe it's to keep us from hurling on the way back down river. Regardless, it was just not something I would ever want to eat again. I tried all of the salad dressings and they were bland, basically more bland than mayonnaise. The fried chicken was over cooked and dry. The split-pea salad was worse than what I could get at the grocery store. The cupcakes were over baked. The only part of the clam chowder that actually tasted like clam chowder was the little bits of clam that settled at the bottom of the cup. The only good things that I had to eat were the veggies from the salad bar as well as the corn on the cob... The only things that they did not have to cook... To top it all off, for two people eating very little because the food was inedible... We payed a flat rate total of $35 plus a tip to make it $40. Talk about kicking me when I'm down. So moral of the story. Go for the ride, its a lot of fun and provides good photo opportunity that you could only get otherwise if you were on a personal watercraft. Definitely bring a snack and a lunch. As well as: sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a waterproof jacket with a hood, some warm layers, and a camera (waterproof?). You will not get cell service for the majority of the trip so be aware of that. I'm sorry for the negative remarks, I do strive to give honest feedback though. read more
