I've always liked the subs here. Out of all the sub chains in this area Jersey Mike's is da best. Great bread, fresh sliced to order meats and fresh veggies make it a winner. Italian sub, excellent. Love the cheesesteak sub too. What I don't like, and which keeps it out of the five star rating is they don't offer giardiniera which is a must have in Chicagoland. JM's offer some kind of pepper sauce crap that can't carry giardinieras jock strap! Come on man! So when I rarely decide to go to Mike's instead of supporting the mom and pop sub joints that I love, I get my sub to-go and add the giardiniera at home. Sad but true. read more

I'm a sandwich guy, through and through, and this Jersey Mike's has become one of my top 10 favorite sandwich places in the neighborhood. Upon all of my visits, I've gotten some excellent sandwiches. During the first two visits, it was clear they were still training staff, breaking in new equipment (their POS system and card processing were struggling), and working out some of the expected new store problems. Each successive visit has been quicker and easier. When it comes to their cold subs, they're all pretty good. They're not my favorite, but it's more of a personal preference how I like my cold subs to be loaded with a ton of veggies. They're still upper-tier, when it comes to cold hoagie subs, though. They have really good bread, their cold cuts are pretty decent, and their veggies - while not as numerous as other sub shops - always seem fresh. Where Jersey Mike's has really won me over, is with their hot subs. Their Famous Philly, the Chicken Philly, and their Big Kahuna are all wonderfully delicious! From a faster-style restaurant, they serve up some of the best cheesy meaty hoagie melts I've had in the area. I'd have to trek over to Mojo's or Philly's Best to get better (though I'm always open to more suggestions). Their meat is savory, cooked up nicely, and I love how they don't obliterate the onions & peppers (or mushrooms & jalapenos for the Kahuna). Their cheese is creamy, and melts beautifully. My better half concurs - their Philly-style hoagies are excellent. Every time I've gone, the Deerfield Jersey Mike's restaurant appears spotless, and the staff are super-friendly. For the first month, it seemed like they were struggling a little to keep up with the demand. A lot of customers showed up with their grand opening coupons, and the new crew tried their best but orders were stacking up. By my third visit, nobody was training anymore, and they were able to take and fulfill my order in a quick and accurate manner. Every visit since has been a treat. Since the food is prepared in the open, I can see that they're taking proper food handling and hygiene measures, and everyone on the line seem to be in perfect sync. Is it weird that this was literally my first Jersey Mike's sub experience? 2-stars for the non-existent customer service, but 5-stars for my sub sandwich! I ordered an original Italian with provolone cheese and a variety of meats: ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni. Sandwich meats and cheese were sliced right before my eyes, and then carefully placed on my choice of rosemary/cheese bread. The meats were high-quality meats, better than other sub shops in the area. And...that rosemary bread was soooo fresh. I'm a bit obsessed with rosemary, so definitely a huge win for me. My sandwich was $8.65. Worth it? Yeah, for sure. Jersey Mike's is now officially added to my sandwich rotation, but it's more than I prefer to spend for a daily treat. My first impression was that the staff was very friendly, willing to help, and prepared the food quickly. They offer a decent variety of sandwiches. The special thing about Jersey Mike's is that they offer a "giant" size, which feeds 2-3 people (or 1 very hungry person). I ordered giant sizes of the Italian sandwich and big kahuna, which were about $15 each. The sandwiches were loaded with meat, which is what I always look for when I get a sub, and were very tasty. Were they the tastiest subs I've ever had? Not really. Were they delicious? Absolutely. I would not come here frequently, though, since the sandwiches are rather pricey. read more

They get four stars just because Jersey Mike's subs are five star all day long! Unfortunately I was disappointed in the service at this location and I thought them a bit skimpier on the meat than other locations. Still best tasting subs to be found! The problem I had here, on my only visit, was that they didn't know how to make the sub that I ordered. There was nothing special about it. I didn't make any changes or substitutions. I ordered the #9 Club supreme. It comes with bacon on it - thus the club part of the name. I had to tell the guy multiple times to put the bacon on it. He asked me "Do I want it Mike's Way?" That's with oil, which I didn't want. When I said no he seemed to think that meant no bacon. I have never had this problem at any of the other Mike's locations that I have gone to. Just a bit crazy. The server was very nice just not well trained. I did finally get the sandwich made the way I wanted it and it was delicious. Mike's subs are simply craveable! read more

I'm a bit surprised to see the rating for Jersey Mike's. It's true each customer has a different experience, but the sandwich I always get (The Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese Steak) is as close to an Italian beef taste as I've come. The Large sandwich is actually TWO sandwiches. It's an amazing messy-cheesy wonder. (I can tell you the Jersey Mike's in Deerfield (Waukegan Rd.), doesn't come close to what this location creates. Why? I guess personnel, the ingredients are ingredients.) Thanks for the GREAT food, the on-time pick-ups during the pandemic, and getting the orders right just about every time! You'll enjoy the food you get here! To the owner: get management at Bannockburn to train your staff at other stores! The difference is amazing. I went in to an almost empty store. Had to wait several minutes to order. Then they made my sandwich but didn't wrap it as they went to make another sandwich. I asked them to cut it into thirds but the cut it in half. Then cut it into fifths. I asked to put my points number in and was told I couldn't do it because I needed to do it before I paid. First time having Jersey Mike's and I wish I would've tried them sooner! I've been looking for a cheesesteak and found it here! I got the Big Kahuna without the jalapeño and it was so yummy! The bread was so soft and chewy and perfect. The steak was so tender and not fatty at all. The veggies were cooked nicely and the right amount of gooey cheese. We took our daughter in for dinner and the two guys in there were so friendly and patient. when we left we couldn't find my wallet and I called them to see if they had seen it, even though they hadn't they tried to help me find it. I am SO glad that this location opened!! I hadn't been to a Jersey Mike's before, and the guy was like, "meh, they're okay" and I'm like, "get in the car, guy, we've got COUPONS." They sent out coupons when they opened, and they've sent us more, and I am so there for those. The Big Kahuna is just awesome, it's this monster Philly cheese steak sandwich that is ... well I'm fanning myself, it's just cheesy and meaty and the bread is off the chain. I'm meaning to ask them for some add ons sometime, to see how that tastes. We've ordered the Philly as well, but definitely I'm preferring the Big Kahuna. (That one has mushrooms and peppers and onion on it, as well as meat and cheese, FYI. SO GOOD!) We've had good experiences here the 4 times we've picked up from them. I eat tuna fish a couple times a week and decided to try JM's to see how it compares. Up and down Waukegan there are A variety of sandwich shops and I have had the tuna in all of them. I placed an online order, went to pick it up at pick up time and it wasn't ready. The store was jammed with people so I went to wait in my car. I waited 45 minutes and my food was still not ready. I went into the store and the manager told me he would cancel the order and refund my money. He did not. I called to speak to a manager about it the following day and was hung up on. Honestly I think Mommy and Daddy bought this place for spoiled/privileged child and let them run it. They hired all there friends who are also spoiled and privileged and don't follow the Jersey Mike's standards of service or making subs. They should sell it to an owner that cares about it and does not use it as a write off. I love Jersey Mike's but this location is awful. It is filthily and the people working there are so rude. I went in on a Friday and waited in a rather long line. Ordered my sandwich and 2 others for my nieces. I was asked throughout the making the sandwich part 4 times what sandwiches I ordered. I didn't make changes - 2 ham and cheese and 1 turkey and cheese. Then when I went to pay she says 2 turkey and cheese and 1 ham and cheese. I repeated for the 5th time my order. She rolled her eyes at me and got all nasty. Lady if you can't handle remembering 3 sandwiches ask people to order in ones and don't be rude to your customers who are your business. I will not be back. Even my nieces said that women got very mad at you but you did nothing wrong. A female worker was trying to get me to accept my sub made with brown and decaying lettuce shreds. She turned them over and they weren't brown, but still looked slimy. She told me the restaurant had no other lettuce. That was about 6 p.m. on 10/27/21. Her attitude was not apologetic; it was more like she was surprised that I wouldn't want slimy, brown-flecked lettuce. You need workers that are willing to bring up fresh produce instead of trying to pass off what no restaurant should serve. *Update: the manager felt fresh lettuce should have been brought out. Phoned in my oder, it was ready on time when I arrived. The place is very clean, employees polite and personable. Sandwich was better than a couple of other locations I've been to. Lot's of meat, and very fresh bread. 3 choices of bread: white, wheat and rosemary. I had the Italian...very good and my wife the turkey and cheese. She is hard to please with subs and said it was excellent. Din't know the staff is ex-military until reading other posts, but it shows in the attention to detail they had. I would love to give this place 5 stars, because the sandwiches are good, and you don't leave there sounding like Clara Peller... "Where's the beef?"!!! Those are important to me, when evaluating these places. Of equal importance, is cleanliness. I have been to this location about a half dozen times, at different hours, weekdays and weekends. NEVER have I been able to find a clean table! I have come in during times where I am the ONLY CUSTOMER, and the employees are sitting at that same table in the back where they always sit, and the tables REMAIN DIRTY!!! I've had a couple of issues with this location over the passed few months. Both my orders were placed through Grubhub. The first time, the restaurant decided to close early but the ordering system didn't know that. So the driver shows up to an empty location. The second time, my sub was missing 3 items. One was bacon which costs extra. The only thing they could do is refund me for the bacon. They couldn't bring me all the items, bring a new sandwich, or refund the sandwich. This is the worst JM location, I've ever been to. The service has been fine - food ready when they say. But the quality of ingredients is truly lacking! I have tried this location 3 times and every time the bread has been stale, and the other ingredients (veggies, meat) don't seem fresh at all and lack flavor! The manager asked about allergies and saw to preparation himself (including washing off a portion of the grill, clean gloves, etc. The subs overall were generous in portion (sliced meat to order) and tasted great (the new Udi's special order bread held up very well even with dressing). read more

Three strikes...I'm done with this location. I love Jersey Mike's, but there is one angry guy who works here. I have NEVER been treated with such a miserable angry attitude as this guy has. Today was the last straw - the THIRD time he's treated me this way. He immediately goes into a rage when you order gluten free. Slams things around, won't speak to the customer. Makes the sandwich incorrectly over and over. Wouldn't clean the slicer. Used dirty towels to wipe the counter. And let's get back to his attitude - RUDE, ANGRY, VIOLENTLY slams the slicer. I should have called the police. He was THAT full of rage. And the woman working with him was no prize either. I told her that the guy was being inappropriate and she basically ignored me. There were many customers in the restaurant - and the four men who were waiting to order after me, were visible stunned by this guys behavior. I told the guy that if he was THAT angry about making my food, I'd go elsewhere. He just walked away. I can't even eat the sandwich he made with such intense hatred. This guy needs to be fired!!! As long as he works at this location, my family will never return. And that woman working alongside him as well. She saw the entire scene and never offered an apology. I worked here for months and never got paid. After voicing this multiple times to corporate all they did was postpone and dismiss my concerns, claiming I would receive my paycheck, which two years later still hasn't arrived. I even took this up with the company and work department of Illinois only to be shut down yet again because apparently the manager had moved locations and didn't keep track of any paperwork (when I showed it, it was told as too little of an issue to take legal action). At the time I worked there, they did not pay multiple of their workers whom were minors, clearly taking advantage of their lack of experience in the work-field. Similarly, I have heard many other workers voice their negative treatment by those in charge of the restaurants hardly be given their pay's worth. Plus since I worked there I can tell you, a lot of their food is processed/old and all their chips were expired so literally go anywhere else. read more

What can I say. I guess the Jersey Mike's Sandwitches are pretty much ok. Can't really wreck a sub now can you. Were they great? Well no. Just average but very pricy. We got a junior mini sub and it was truly a mini for almost 7 dollars. The value is not really there. We also got the Philly cheese steak and I hate to say this but it was awful. They put on some weird blend of peppers and onions that just tasted a bit off to me. Perhaps its me but my mate agreed. One thing they need to improve upon is table cleaning. All of the tables were full of bread crumbs and were filthy. This is my biggest beef. Clean your Tables! What kind of impression is a nice dirty table? All and all we can't rate higher than 2 stars.
