As I was out and about, and saw this place. Decided to have lunch and get their Bomber sandwich. It's a jazzed up Italian beef it came with their special house sauce, Swiss cheese, pickles, grilled onions and more. This is a small spot that also does the long party subs and catering. As I sat down to eat to flavor was good. The special sauce threw me a bit. It was just that it was a different taste than a normal Italian Beef. The fries were salted well and had a nice crispness to them. If I was back in the area I would stop again. read more

Not sure why I never knew of this place. Lived in Glenview for over a decade in late '80's-90's. Been here since '67. First visit I had the delicious Italian beef, dipped hot. Very meaty sandwich either 6" or 9". Make it a bomber with Swiss, pickles, onion and special sauce my next visit. New location at 1880 Glenview Rd is currently under construction likely opening 2026. read more

I know they are relocating to a new location but I will miss the cozy spot on Waukegan Road. They have the best French fries ever. I usually get the veggie sub. I had some time to kill while waiting for a train so I figured it was a good chance to try something new. Looking at nearby spots I saw Spiro's and it sounded perfect. It's a small, no frills kind of place, which is just fine. I get the neighborhood secret vibe here, everyone who came in before or after me knew the workers personally. The friendliness is a big plus. I had the 7 inch original poor boy. Overall a really tasty sandwich! Classic deli style meats and veggies. The bread could have been a bit softer which is my only complaint. It wasn't too tough but it did take some effort to get a good bite. I'm around this area often so ill be back for sure. I can't believe I ate the entire thing. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak combo expecting thin sliced steak that would come from a box. The man behind the counter (Rudy) just kept saying, yeah, no problem to my choices of cheeses. This is definitely where the locals go. This place had a steady stream of customers ordering everything from Gyros to Po'boys. Everyone who entered knew the man behind the counter and he greeted all of them by name. The ambiance is very deli. No special anything really. The place just says order your stuff and we will feed you. The food though... I truly am pleased I made this stop. The Philly cheesesteak had actual chunks of steak. The provolone cheese and the added cheese sauce made this closer to a true Philly than I have been since being in Philly. This thing was a monster sandwich and when i first looked at it i thought that i may need a football team to polish this off. The fries were fresh cut and salted properly right out of the oil. This is what I will call a hidden gem in Glenview. I have lived not too far from Spiro's for over 10 years now and have always wanted to stop by. The first time I picked up from here, I ordered GYROS SANDWICH and a ROAST BEEF SANDWICH. My kids ate them in the car while we were on a road trip. Once they opened the sandwiches, the smell of the gyro meat and roast beef were drool worthy. Not only did they smelled good, they tasted even better too! There were so much meat in both sandwiches. The next time I stopped by, I got a Gyro sandwich (again) and a PHILLY CHEESESTEAK sandwich for my son. They were amazing. (Of course I get to have a taste of everything I get for them ;). The sandwiches were made to order. Both times I've gone, I probably waited about 10 minutes for two sandwiches. Everyone was friendly, accommodating, and very efficient. Spiro's Deli is delicious! One of my friends recommended this place to me, and I stopped by for lunch one day, and the sandwich didn't disappoint. I got the veggie sandwich with hot peppers and made it a meal with fries and a drink. The fries are made fresh, and they were great! All the ingredients were fresh, and the sandwich was great. They do get super busy during lunch time so I'd call ahead and place the order. They have great music playing, and have some indoor and outdoor seating. I'll definitely be back! read more

I was looking for a solid sandwich option after visiting one of my kids who attends college north of Chicago, on my way back to O'Hare. I decided on Spiro's based on the enthusiastic reviews. It's a small place; maybe 6 tables, in a strip mall. I walked in and the place was clearly full of local regulars; as people came in, they were greeted by name and asked if they wanted "the usual". I ordered the Italian beef combo; an Italian beef sandwich with cheese and sweet peppers, cheese fries, and a fountain soda. I waited for the food to be prepared, and watched the Syracuse/Norte Dame game on the big screen tv that's in view of all of the tables. The Sammy and fries were ready in about 5 mins. The beef was served slightly "wet", which happens to be the way I like it. The fries were natural cut, sprinkled with seasoned salt, and served with a large cup of yellow cheesy goodness. Well worth the price charged. The sandwich was an excellent example of a Italian Beef; tender meat, very tasty jus, on a fresh roll with soaked up the jus "just right". As I paid, I met the owner, Peter. We both share Greek heritage, and so we chatted a bit. Since it was my first time there, he gave me a sample of their specialty beef sandwich, the "Bomber". It was very kind of him to do that; the "sample" was about 1/3rd of a whole sandwich, and super-tasty. Next time, I'll order a whole one. The staff is so friendly. They don't know me, I've been there twice. Most people I've seen in there appear to be regulars. This visit I asked for a deconstructed sub since it was lunchtime, but the subs were going to be taken for a picnic dinner. They packed all of the wet topping separately for me. Spiro's Deli is an unassuming fast foot restaurant that serves up a variety of tasty treats. It is a pretty small location with about 20 seats and seems to do a good takeout business. It has been around for years and you can tell that people come here for the food - not the ambiance. They are known for their Italian Beef. I have had the Bomber Sandwich and really enjoyed it. The beef has a nice spice to it and comes out perfectly warm. The soft Turano bread held up nicely to the sandwich and the pickles and cheese went together well. It was one of the better beef sandwiches I have had. On my latest trip I had the Spiro's Ultimate. It had a ton of beef, turkey and ham with fresh veggies on the same bread. Very tasty, but a little expensive at around $9.00 for a 7". I can totally justify the higher cost for the quality of sandwich.
