Looking for a unique place in the Winston-Salem area. Had heard King, NC had a nice steak house…read more When we got there, tried unsuccessfully to get seats at the bar. So, went across the street to The Dalton Bar And Grill! It was a home run. Sat at bar, which was attended by two well experienced bartenders. Started with the Poke Tuna appetizer with fried wontons. It was large enough to be a small entrée and the fried wontons were perfect. For dinner we split a skirt steak with asparagus. A little concerned it would be tender but melted in the mouth. The asparagus was HUGE but cooked perfect. I'm almost leery of posting this because I don't want a million people going to King.

This was my second visit to The Dalton Restaurant, and regrettably, it will likely be my last. My…read moreprevious experience was underwhelming, but I decided to give the restaurant another opportunity in hopes that it had improved. Unfortunately, this visit fell even shorter of expectations. The food quality was particularly disappointing. The Cajun shrimp Alfredo was excessively heavy and resulted in immediate discomfort, lacking the balance and flavor one would expect from such a dish. The addition of bacon to the dish was a clear misstep, overwhelming the other flavors and contributing to an already overly rich and unbalanced meal. The croissants were equally unsatisfactory--dense, chewy, and overbaked, with a texture and taste suggesting they had not risen properly. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal was the side salad, which, while fresh, should not have been the most enjoyable component of the dining experience. Overall, I left feeling quite disappointed. Given that both of my visits have resulted in similarly negative experiences, I find it difficult to justify returning.

A friend asked to go to dinner here, and so I went. I'd never heard of P B Clark's before, and I…read morehad no idea what to expect. As it turns out, P B Clark's is a restaurant the likes of which you'll see in or near most small towns. Meat and 2 sides, lots of fish, somewhat worn interior, not super clean, wait staff who are regular people. I've seen it plenty of times and I generally like these places because they are predictable and serve good basic food. P B Clark's is no different. The girl who waited on us is young and has a sunny personality. Super nice and always available. We were also topped off by another nice girl, possibly another waitress or a food runner. I ordered the Friday special catfish with fries and hush puppies. I'm giving this review a 4-star because of the staff and the fish. Otherwise, it would be a three star. The catfish had a ton of flavor and needed nothing for a frozen, breaded, deep fried catfish filet. The hushpuppies were bland, the fries were slightly undercooked and needed salt. My friend had a burger which appeared to be good. Would I go back? Yes, I would.

I had called ahead and asked when a good time on Saturday to arrive for a group our size. They shared that breakfast was the busiest time but if we arrived after 11:30 we shouldn't have any problem. These folks know their business, they were spot on! We pulled a few tables together. Our server was extraordinarily patient as our group trickled in arriving in King from Winston-Salem. I think she was very much surprised when 10 out of the 12 us ordered hot dog plates. We started with an order of buffalo chips and they were very much enjoyed along with the ranch they were served with. I think we all enjoyed our hot dogs (mine with chili, mustard, and onions, was great). We had a variety of sides and people spoke highly of the fried okra, banana pudding, sweet potato casserole, and fries. I'd definitely return to P.B. Clarks!
