This is a well sized, well filled club, and the taste was good and fresh. They have a nice variety of soups - I Ike the Red Beans and Rice, Chili, Country Potato, Tortilla! Stopped in to get a sandwich to take on a picnic lunch with my wife. The sandwich was $15.99 for a 12 in Italian sub and a bag of chips. When we stopped to eat there were so many large pieces of onions and peppers that I had to pick off after I took my first bite and got a mouthful of onions. Finally came here with my son. The place was clean, and the staff was friendly. I really liked their menu options, so much more than just sandwiches. My son got the spicy Italian sub and I opted for something healthier. I ordered the veggie spud with cheese. IT WAS HUGE! It literally was two massive potatoes end to end and it was delicious. Love me some McAlister's Deli! I just so happen to be in Winston Salem and stopped by this location. I ordered from the app and did the curbside pickup option. Fast delivery and the person that brought it out was really nice. It was cold and raining and she still came outside with a smile. I'm really doing this review for the food. This was my first time ordering "The Veggie" and it was so good! And because I'm extra I customized it by adding provolone cheese and extra herb mayo. Love! "The Veggie" comes with cucumber, tomato, red onions, spinach, multicolored peppers and avocado. This sandwich is served on 9-grain bread, held together by a large toothpick. And now that I'm thinking about it I should have asked for a pickle. That would have set it off! This meal comes with a side so you can get Mac & cheese, potato salad, chips, fruit, etc. It does not come with a drink. The sandwich is big so you will definitely get full. I thought McAlister's Deli was closed, but having been there several times in the past, I stopped by for lunch and was pleased to find the doors open. But then I noticed the sign on the door. No dining room service. The lady inside said that only McAlister's in-app ordering to go were served. What a rollercoaster of ups and downs! If you like your order to be right and value your life don't go here. I used to like this place years ago. I decided to order from here and got a simple turkey sandwich with no tomato and regular bread. I suffer from diverticulitis. Tomato's can send me to the hospital, and of course there were tomatoes. I called to get the situation resolved and was hung up on after asking to speak with a manager. I'm not driving 15 min away to hash it out with someone just to either have them say sorry or comp a meal. What about my time what about my gas. And now I'm out a meal because there are tomato seeds all over my sandwich. I tried to just wipe them off and became upset when they just embedded themselves into the bread. We were in High Point earlier this week and needed to have a quick lunch. We used to enjoy the McAlister's in Greensboro on occasion and decided to try this one. I agree with the other reviewers. It's unfortunately only average. I used to really like their iced tea but I found it to be very weak tea...way too watered down. I should have just ordered water with lemon. It would have been about the same at no cost. I ordered the Angus Club and my husband ordered the regular club. The Angus Club had a nice flavor but Ingredients were a little skimpy, in my opinion, based on club sandwiches I've had at other restaurants. In the picture it looks better but you can really see that every thing is piled up in the middle of the sandwich. The side of steamed broccoli was excellent. The side of fresh fruit was skimpy as well. What I really liked was the ability to seat yourself and order online. Just input your table number and pay. Great idea. read more

Another chain restaurant, and this one gets a thumbs up in my book! I have always been a fan of the variety of items in the menu that McCallister's offer up. All types of sandwiches, nachos, and even "spuds" or overloaded baked potatoes to break it down to simpler terms. I hit this place up around 2pm so I beat any lunch crowd that it may have had. It was nice, and quiet which I always liked. The lady up front greeted me with a smile, and took my order promptly. I went with my usual choice, the King Club which is double everything of what a McCallister's Club would have. Hand , turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, Colby jack cheese, mayo, and honey mustard all on toasted white bread. Yum! I am also fond of the sides you can choose from other than just your everyday chips. Their sides also include potato salad, Mac and cheese, a small cup of coup, or even a fruit cup. I went with the potato salad, and it was actually pretty good. Most places put too much mayo in their potato salad for me, but this place got it just right which was a pleasant surprise! The club was enormous and cut in halves with a toothpick stuck through each half because it was so thick of salivary goodness. I wasted no time devouring the sandwich as my belly was very satisfied! I got a refill of there popular lemonade before I left full and happy! I will definitely be back here hands down! *On a side note, they also have cookies, brownies and , rice crispy treats for dessert but I was too full to partake in any. They place has some of the cleaner bathrooms that I have seen in awhile, and no lie, it smelled like Fruit Loops in there. Also, one in my Yelp friends said in the "Tips" section, that this place had a sanitation grade of 90 which caught my eye, however, when I went in today it was a 97.5. While these restaurants are somewhere between franchised and chain, I can honestly say that this location in particular is the best. The GM and store manager is always here and even closes on the weekends, not many restaurants have management staff that do, they usually leave it to ASMs or shift leaders. There has been VERY a few times that I have had to have corrections and when it's been a need, it's because they forgot utensils or they prepare drinks 20-30min before arrival to pick up to-go food so the ice is melted BUT they happily remake. The only issue is that if you want unsweet tea, the closing staff (not the "seasoned" employees) just toss it for sweet. Of all the employees besides management, tonight, I had the pleasure of meeting Chris (a tall, black gentleman), he truly went the extra mile! He apologized for his coworker, who was sitting on her phone, and actually said he felt so badly for not having tea for me. I told him, that as a physician, he should not take things to heart and that I was more than thankful for his desire to be the best employee possible. He is definitely someone you should look for when you come to the restaurant, he goes above and beyond a paycheck which most restaurants should instill on their employees: "act like it's your restaurant". We ate dinner here on 9/29 and the lady who took our order was very nice. We ordered and waited probably 15 minutes even though there was no one else waiting. Almost all of the tables were dirty so I cleaned one off for us. A few people came in to get to go orders but no one else was dining in. One meal came out and then we waited another 10-15 minutes for the second meal to come out. The food was cold and not very good but at this point we just ate some of it and left. We had a chocolate chip cookie that we brought home and the cookie had pieces of parchment paper stuck in the bottom of it and backed into the cookie. Overall, not a good experience. read more

I came here one Friday with a coworker. I think we should have turned around shortly after walking in but we didn't, so here I am writing this review. The line was long and only one girl was checking everyone out. The manager came out to say "we will be right with you" and turned around and leaned against the counter. I'm not sure about you, but I would have probably helped tackle that line that was to the door. That's just me though. I got a grilled chicken ceasar salad as another coworker had recommended. It was so bitter, I just ate the chicken off it and threw the rest away. I don't know if it was the lettuce or the dressing but it was just so terrible. My friend didn't finish her regular salad either, saying it was just terrible. I never order the sandwiches, but always order a spud. They are always fresh and great tasting. I have had a sale a couple times and it was pretty good, too. I have been going to this McAlister's since it opened and it used to be a great restaurant. The service was good, the food was good, and the restaurant seemed well put together. Now the service is lackadaisical at best. We came in to get food to go and it was a poor experience. While we waited on our food the people before us and the people after us got their food, with a smile and walked out to them. When our food came up, the same person set it down on the counter and looked at us, no smile or acknowledgement. There were two people behind the counter and the one person just seemed to meander around. The service in this particular location has gone way down and has been for awhile. I am a fan of the chain and have eaten McAlister's many times. This location has friendly fast service. I had the half sandwich ans salad combo. The Savannah salad is very tasty and the half portion is huge. The grilled chicken club is my go to sandwich. I love their honey mustard. The is also really good. our food came out quickly and was just how we ordered it. My dining companion had made some changes to a salad and it was served how she wanted it. I went to this mcallisters location and was told that they were not taking in-person orders. There was no explanation given as to why they couldn't take our order. I ended up buying a brownie and they let me use my card, so it wasn't their system that was down. They were out of pickles and when we tried to eat in the dining area we were kicked out. We always enjoy this restaurant. The food is consistently good. Service can be a bit slow. The online ordering works really well. They have a good kids menu and the regular menu offers good variety. I've been here before and it's been okay but our experience at McAlister's yesterday was literally the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. When we arrived the line was long, which we attributed to it being a busy Sunday afternoon. Apparently we were wrong, and it was because the kitchen and wait staff were moving at about half speed. After ordering at 1:10pm, we finally started getting some food at 2:05pm, after asking about it several times. At one point, a worker said "oh I didn't know you were still waiting on food" even though half of the table had not yet been served and that same waiter had just come 5 minutes before to take notes on what we were missing. When we did finally all receive our food, three of the orders were incorrect (which the manager later blamed on us for "taking the wrong meals" even though one of the servers had mismatched sandwiches and salads). I would strongly recommend steering clear of this McAlister's. read more

Ok what has happened to the McAlisters at this location. I usually love their food, but the sides, come on, what sides? Servers were not that friendly, one very huge employee told another employee to remind him to clock out, than sat down next to me while I waited on food, and proceeded to play on his phone. No big deal as long as he clocked out (this was around 2:30/3:00pm on 9/6/17) so not very busy. Back to the sides. I got the Coleslaw and my husband got potato salad. My coleslaw was very small, hardly any in it. I measured it, 2.3/4 oz and that includes the container, I mean really. And to make matters worse it smelled bad, like rotten cabbage. I took a taste, and I threw it away. The potato salad, 4.7/8 oz. so what did they give me the last tablespoon of what was left of the coleslaw, did they not smell it, they had to have, it stunk. I guess they were too lazy to get fresh from the cooler. So so disappointed and two oz less than the potato salad. Why is it we pay more for sides and get less. I would normally give this place a 4 or 5 star but not now. read more

I ordered by phone and payed with credit card and told the woman on line my daughter would pick up the order at the Winston-Salem Hanes Mill Road restaurant, as I am recovering from surgery. The person who took my order went over it and was correct. When my daughter got home the sides ordered for two orders were missing. One sandwich was not what was ordered. I had ordered a grilled chicken Club. This was chicken on a ciabatta roll with sharp cheddar cheese and a sauce. It had no side of fruit as we had ordered. Another order had no potato salad as we had ordered. The taco salad ordered had no ranch dressing as ordered and no guacamole or sour cream. I had asked for veggie chili but it had the consistency of ground beef. I called on the phone and asked to speak with the manager. The manager never came to the phone and eventually someone hung up without checking to see if anyone was on the line. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Today's experience not as good as previous. That is the problem with this location, no consistency. Some times my salad has feta sometimes not. sometimes it fills the bowl sometimes it is the size of a 1/2 salad. sometimes the service is good sometimes not. Today, I had ordered online to pick up. Walked in and saw my order lined up on the counter, and went to the pick up counter to pay. There were other staff working around the front counter. One was taking orders like she is supposed to and the other was working on something else. There were other people lined up behind me at the pre-ordered pick up counter as well. Girl #2 kept looking over at us and then going back to what she was doing. Never said a word to us just kept ignoring all of us in line. Finally after 10-15 minutes of standing there the manager wandered up and helped us. I advised the mgr that her staff should at least acknowledge people waiting and try to get someone else to help instead of just ignoring us. How rude!! This location needs to get it together and become more consistent. If I didn't like the food so much I would all together never go there again. read more
