I was introduced to this place last week by a coworker and man I am addicted!! I have tried multiple items on the menu now and I absolutely love this place! The meat is Delicious and shaved right in front of you. The bread has been amazingly fresh every time I go. My favorite meat is their prime rib. It just melts in your mouth! (Its my favorite by a slim margin...everything is just that damn tasty.) The staff at this location is awesome! Well trained and very friendly! This place is great for sandwiches- came here twice already with my coworker for lunch and we never had a problem. Ordering online is simple and quick and you just pick it up in the store. She usually gets a wrap and loves it and I usually stick with a super club. There was one time I ordered a sandwich and got to the place a few minutes before- they didn't have time yet to start making it but within five minutes, my sandwich was finished and the guy working behind the counter gave me a card for a free sandwich for next time. Let me start by saying I'm a recent transplant from New Jersey and so I was excited to see this Jersey Mike's chain popping up all over the place here in SoCal. However my excitement was cut short by the bad, disorganized way this place is run. Making subs should be very simple. Either the person serving you sticks with you to build your sandwiches like at Subway, or they hand you off from station to station like at Chipotle. Jersey Mike's is so disorganized that there seems to be no system at all. There seems to be no supervision in either of the locations I've visited (Brookhurst and the newer one on Harbor). The result is a frustrating, slow experience of ordering, then having to tell 6 different people 3 times what you want, and they will still get it wrong. They goof around behind the counter, they don't pay attention to their job, and they don't seem to understand that it should be quick and easy for the customer, not an annoying hassle. I don't know why Jersey Mike's is such a mess. It should be a no-brainer slam dunk to bring NJ style sandwiches to the rest of America. I think they are growing too quickly, there are not enough experienced people to train staff, and so it's just a haphazard mess of young kids trying to make up the rules of running these shops as they go along. This place has always been a great place especially through COVID. But I'm only giving it 5 stars because of one employee whom I have seen working steadily throughout the pandemic at this location. I hadn't been by in the last couple of months but last time I stopped by I was appalled.... the only gentleman who was actually working was the same gentleman who I had seen throughout the last year working always giving his best and so kind and friendly. But this last time he was surrounded by so many workers who were just on their phones, super rude, no customer service experience or professionalism at all. I'm going out of my way to give him 5 stars because he was handling a rush, remembering my usual order ON TOP OF -saying hello to everyone, acknowledging everyone with a smile when all the other workers were talking or head down to their phones not helping him at all. He was slicing then making the food, sliding each one down handling everyone in line. Making sure the food was done correctly and then finally ringing everyone up in order the correct way. The man in line in front of me even made a joke to him at the register laughed and said "working alone today, I see?" And still none of the other workers even heard him, started helping or cared. Whoever is hiring at this location needs help with hiring the right people. Or giving incentives to hire the right people..... it's a corporate company, they have the money. I know people don't want to work nowadays but this gentleman I've seen at this location for the last year now-STILL had a smile on his face. I'm not quite sure of the spelling but I believe his name is Arty or Ardie. I hope they reevaluate whom ever is hiring, give this man a raise because he was working for 4 other people by himself and still working through these difficult times. He made my day better knowing there are still people out in the world working hard, being kind, professional and smiling even if they are carrying the entire weight of the team on their shoulders for minimum wage. He deserves this review and I hope he gets a better team, a raise/bonus or something for all of his work because he really made the place shine that day and always had before. Great sandwich, good service, I recommend that everyone gives this place a chance. I worry that it won't be here that long. Togos was super yummy and failed, they had an average of 2 employees at all times and today at 7:00 PM there are 6 people standing around. I had an overall lovely experience but the person that really solidified my positive experience was a young man named Christian. He was very sweet and helpful in assisting me with my order. Awesome cheese steaks and hoagies. I'm from Jersey and these are by far the best imitation I have seen since I got out here. Definitely better then that lame Philly's Best place. I feel like it is tourist central up in that place. Jersey Mike's is a nice casual environment with quality food. Kind of expensive for what you get. Especially considering back home I could get the same thing for $5 at WaWa. You gotta get a buffalo chicken cheese steak. They aren't on the menu but if you ask they will make it. 2nd and last time here...although the food is average at best, the service is bad. On my last visit they were out of white bread and only had wheat. What kind of sandwich shop runs out of bread???? Next they apparently screwed up a lady's order and had to give her a refund. What happened next was shocking. The lady who I assume was the manager was yelling at an employee who was on his break to get up and deal with the lady who needed a refund instead of doing it herself. At this point I was ready to walk out and go to chipotle but my order was almost finished. So I decided to give it another shot. Got to the register and it was almost $13 for a tuna sandwich chips and drink. Looked at my receipt and they charged me $1.25 for cheese. Who charges for cheese at a sandwich place??!? I go to this place every day for the past two weeks after they did modernization to the store, and I though I found a good friendly place. However today 09/01/20 there was this young lady around 2pm. very rude and unprofessional to say the least, kinda refusing to give me a side of halibino after she gave me the sandwich because I didn't tell her while she was doing it. the store was empty and I got the side after all but she was a total Jack-Ass. First off, I love jersey mikes subs and their staff in general. This store location has been the only time I left without actually getting a sub. I ordered same combo I have been ordering for years (turkey and salami). The large blond lady who took my order told me it would cost another $4.50 if I wanted to do the same combo I get at all other stores for the same prices. I said no so she said she could do it for the same price if she added less turkey. She proceeded to make the sandwich with so little meat that it didn't even cover the bread. And she was just unpleasant about the whole thing. This location is trash. I am a NJ native so when I want a taste of home I like to go to jersey mikes and grab a classic sub. (No it's not like the REAL subs we get back East but close enough) so I'm pregnant as hell craving a meatball parm sub so I go in to the Costa Mesa location for the first time and order a meatball parm sub and the girl goes "what?? So u just want meal balls??" I'm like so confused what she doesn't understand so I was like ok sorry u guys call it a meatball and cheese it's a meatball parm sub the parm is the cheese. So she makes it I get in the car open it up and the cheese is cold, meatballs cold... sandwich is super messy looking I'm like ok what? So I go back in and ask for a new one and said can u make sure it's hot. They make it again and I open it up to double check an d it's cold again. Where do I start? What an absolute travesty this place is! This store just recently opened and had a living social deal for $9 for $20 worth of food which I bought. First mistake. When we walked in 2 employees shouted out and welcomed us in. The younger guy at the meat slicer asked us what we would like to eat and I ordered my wife's sandwich and then my two boys a kids meal. He was probably high and had no comprehension of what I ordered. He didn't ask what type of bread we wanted, just served it on white. After slicing the meat for those 3 sandwiches he then proceeded to greet the nice lady behind me and asked her what she would like today??? Did I magically make my 6 foot 4 frame dissappear? What a fucking idiot. He asked her what kind of bread she wanted which was news to me. At that point I amazingly reappeared in front of him and told him that I would love to eat dinner also. He says "oh, well what would you like?" Smacking him was my first instinct but I ordered instead. He gave me a bread choice and I told him no cheese. After confirming that twice with me he then asks "extra cheese right". I then look for the hidden cameras because he can't be this fucking retarded. After a few more mishaps the fun really begins. It's time to redeem my living social deal. I show him my voucher on my phone and he pulls his paperwork and tells me that I've redeemed it already. I spent the next 3 minutes pleading my case because he told me that he couldn't accept my voucher. I told him that I've never been there before and to call whoever the fuck is holding the brains around there so that I can fucking eat already. I finally just said keep the food, I'm out of here. The whole time a female co-worker of his, who is obviously afraid to speak up even though I could tell she wanted to remedy the situation, tells the guy to just write his number down and give him the food. I'm a New Jersey native, born in Point Pleasant and grew up eating sub sandwiches from the original Jersey Mike's as a kid. When Jersey Mike's came to Southern California I could finally get East Coast sandwich fix anytime. I'm such a fan that last summer on my vacation back East I visited the Jersey Mike's sandwich shop and training facility with my 10year old son to get our fix. I've been eating at the Costa Mesa Jersey Mike's on Harbor Blvd. since they opened like clockwork. I've noticed in the past year a big, big, big decline in quality. It seems that every time I go in there are a new set of employees who are clearly training and typically don't know how to make a sub sandwich and don't stick around long enough to master the skill on making a great East Coast sub. My last visit my #13 Giant sub which I paid $15 for was so doused in oil it was inedible and had to be tossed in the trash. On my visit today i brought home another $15 #13 Giant sub so thin and lacking meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onions it was pathetic. I could have gone to Subway and got 2 12 inch sandwich's loaded with fresh ingredients. Needless to say I will no longer be eating at the Costa Mesa Jersey Mike's on Harbor Blvd. and will be taking my business where they actually know how to make a great East Coast sub. Yes it's a chain but this chain is 100% quality. They hand slice the cheese and meat. I always get "The Original", Mike's Way. The Original is basically an Italian Sub, Mike's way is drenching the sandwich with red wine vinegar. Sandwiches that involve different meats are always a great idea. I've been here twice now. First time after spending 5 minutes in a long line that didn't move I gave up. My lunch break is only an hour. Ended up at the nearby Chipotle which had a similar line but I had my food in 5 minutes. Second time was a Saturday and they had a similar line but I waited it out. I decided the only way the price could be acceptable is if I make a couple meals out of the "giant". I got the 13 "Mike's way" and it was surprisingly bland. The cheese was so thin I could barely taste it and there was too much oil/vinegar and lettuce. I do have to say the next day I ate the rest of the sandwich with less lettuce and no tomato and it tasted much better. But it took 35 minutes to get out of there and It wasn't worth it. I'd like to try some of their hot sandwiches so I'll likely try again.... depending on the line. read more

Watch out what they charge you for your food! On two separate occasions I have received a flyer in the mail listing their sandwich prices. And twice I have gone there, only to be overcharged. Last week the difference was substantial. When I complained, onr of the female employees looked at the flyer and said, "Those aren't the REAL prices." Huh??? When I called for a manager, they made me sit until they weren't busy, and only after getting progressively more insistent did I get a refund. The manager told me "The correct prices are on the board." Huh?? I find their sandwiches WAY overpriced. Better off at Al's New York Cafe at Irvine Ave. and 17th Street in Costa Mesa.
