I ordered the strawberry fields salad and added chicken, wow was it delicious! It's not easy to make a memorable salad, but I'll remember this salad forever. Everything about it was perfect; the dressing amount, the greens, the goat cheese. It all went together so nicely. Another nice touch was that they threw in a cookie since my salad took a little longer than quoted. No big deal to me, but I know this can really irritate some people who are on a schedule. First of all, the SHAKA SPUDS is like crack because not me buying one bag first and coming right back in for two more for the road. Ya'll this place is worth the drive (I'm coming from end the end of Orange County, near Camp Pendleton) the sandwich was perfect, hit the spot on what I was craving for and it SLAPS! I got the Greatfella Sandwich without the agrula and sauce on the side (I don't like my sandwich to be soggy) originally I ordered to go but the moment I open the bag and got a whift of that sandwich, I had to find a table to eat. With the addiciting SPUDS and this sandwich, I was in heaven and the combination of flavors *chef kisses* The Greatfella was so damn good, I ended up finished the whole sandwich in one seating and a whole bag of the spuds that I came back inside to order two more for the road and now it's on my list to come back when I'm in the area. The spuds were so crispy and fresh, and the perfect amount of thickness of a chip for their secret sauce (the star of it) and as I'm typing this review out, I'm eating the other bag and wishing I got more it. We recently had our lunch catering from Sessions. Both salads were so good, as usual. All ingredients were super fresh, especially the alfalfa sprouts, they had a nice green color that you can tell how fresh they were. And the grape tomatoes were very sweet. The sandwiches were all good. We had three types of turkey sandwiches, one was pesto, I think. They were on three different types of bread. Just a bit too much spread so they got soggy quickly. Pulled over unexpectedly and so glad I did. Their ciabatta bread was perfectly crisp on the crust for my sandwich, it wasn't the main chunk of the bite either, a thinner inner dough that didn't over bear the other ingredients. The sandwich was packed to the brim and half of one was what I was expecting but when it came out to my table I blurted out 'whoa!' cuz it was a hearty portion, about seven or eight inches in length and four inches tall, I pushed it down to fit my mouth, and the roundness of the ciabatta hugged the ingredients so well, hardly anything fell out when biting into it. I got the Face Plant and glad I did it, I added arugula because I have an obsession with the peppery leaves. The apple slices were a nice touch. Added a rice beer because the day got really sunny out and it felt right. There's several beers on tap too! Service was cheerful and helpful. I was able to park in the free lot but it was a Thursday early afternoon. Cute decor, nice details, and they have bathrooms; I'll return again when in the area. I had the Chinese Chicken Salad and it was not your standard fare at all--piquant peppers, gooseberries, kale and the dressing was not sesame but so lovely. The Thai salad had heat and was fantastic. Tomato soup was "as good as Nordy Cafe"...which is the highest compliment from my friend. The only reason this wasn't 5 stars was the service. The person taking our order was not swift or a multitasker. We waited for an inordinate amount of time for them to bring the food and finally just went to the counter to ask. The salads were sitting and waiting to be taken to our table, but the order taker said he couldn't take them out until he was done taking another order. He wouldn't just hand them to us or acknowledge we'd been waiting. It was not busy and there were multiple people behind the counter. Based on the food--I feel like the lack of service was a fluke. Hi Matt, I just wanted to send a quick note about something I've been thinking about for a while. For a short time Sessions had a chicken noodle soup on the menu, and it was honestly one of the best chicken noodle soups I've had anywhere. It was simple, super flavorful, and just really comforting. It felt like the kind of thing you'd come back for again and again. What made it stand out even more is that it's actually pretty hard to find a good chicken noodle soup at restaurants these days. Most places don't make it anymore, so people end up stuck with canned soup from the grocery store. When Sessions had it, it felt like such a great find. I noticed it disappeared from the menu and got replaced with the cheddar broccoli soup, which I'm sure a lot of people like, but I honestly still think about that chicken noodle soup. It was that good. Just wanted to put in a vote for bringing it back if you ever reconsider the menu. I would absolutely order it every time. Thanks for everything you're doing with Sessions. I've been to two other Sessions locations and I feel they all uphold the same great quality in food, the place is always clean, the employees are always friendly. I like that they all have different decor that suits their location. However, this location definitely goes above and beyond in terms of service. Polite staff - Yelp Check-in was honored for free small chips which were great. Food came out promptly. I tried the Jaws for $16 and it was solid ver gets very messy. Pretzel bun with pastrami and other goods. The location is very random as it is part of South Coast Plaza and connected to Macys. Great spot before or after shopping. A cool thing about this place is the marketing. My boyfriend's work orders them lunch every Friday, and he brings back salads from Sessions A LOT. & boy is it delish. When we found out there was one in Newport Beach, we decided to go - as neither of us had actually been to a Sessions location before. We were greeted right as we entered, as it wasn't too busy at the time. One customer ordering ahead of us, and another one who was already dining in. It was about an hour to closing time, and the cashier let us know that orders would be served in take out containers, but we were free to dine in if we chose to. The interior is small and intimate, with plenty of lighting. Onto the food. Boyfriend ordered his usual: Wedge Legend Salad with Extra Chicken. I decided to try something else: I ordered the Goodmother Sandwich. And, we decided to order their Shaka Spuds to share. Both the salad and sandwich had insanely fresh ingredients, and their Spuds (House-Baked Potato Chips) were crazy good, topped with fresh Parmesan with sage and rosemary. It is a bit on the pricier side, but for great service and fresh ingredients - I'd say it was well worth the money. I was looking for a breakfast place, not too far from Hogue Hospital, and ran across sessions West. I'm glad I did, because I had a fantastic breakfast sandwich.-the, Morning Zephyr. A fresh fried egg, crispy bacon, tomato, pickled onions, arugula, and mozzarella. And this was on a fresh ciabatta roll. I also had a cup of the drip coffee, and it was very tasty as well. I can tell you that an hour on a weekend cost $2.55 and unfortunately the restaurants around here don't offer parking validations. You can get free shaka spuds via Yelp check in (spuds are their fancy term for potato chips). My crony and I each ordered breakfast sandwiches along with drinks. Our total came out to $38.71 (includes tax and tip). The breakfast sandwiches were small but packed full of flavor. The iced matcha on their menu is actually a latte and it was pretty good. The only thing that was not good was the spuds. I find it oddly amusing that they have a set of chairs that are meant to be for a nice view, but the view is the banal broadside of another restaurant. read more
