I've gone to Jersey Mike's before and got a small sub, but today is the day that they donate all of the money that they receive for their subs to the Seattle Children's Hospital so they decided to go today to make sure that I get my donation The employees were so nice and so helpful The store was absolutely spotless and everybody seemed like they loved working there. They had drinks chips and fresh meat. I have never seen a sub so huge. The sub was absolutely wonderful and I enjoyed it. I come here often because I work close. As of 10/23 they have all new staff. The young woman who was working at 12:30 has a HORRIBLE attitude. Shes rude and didn't get my order right. I can't speak to the food but Cheryl in the 55 Needham Street in Newton Ma location went above and beyond. She is like a superhero in my book! My son was in Newton taking day long exams and I got a message from GrubHub saying his food would not be ready for 3 hours after the delivery time (it was scheduled to be delivered 20min before his break as a special treat and because he failed to bring a lunch). And if you had the "pleasure" of going to school we all know nobody does well on tests on an empty stomach! GrubHub made it sound like Jersey Mike's couldn't make the sandwich until 1p. So I went online and it said GrubHub could deliver from there in 20-30min. So why was my son's sandwich going to be 3 hours late??? I called the store and Cheryl said his sandwich was already made and ready! How horrible is that is GrubHub to make it look like your fault? So I was on the phone with GrubHub when I got a call back from Cheryl (who hadn't even taken my number down as far as I knew). She said that the Grub Hub driver was in the store picking up my sandwich. She even remembered it was for my son who was in the middle of exams! She wished him well on his exams. I have to say, as a busy solo parent this nearly brought me to tears! How genuinely kind of her and highly unexpected! I don't know any other restaurant of any level (Michelin restaurants update you on your GrubHub status because there is a kid involved? No way.) that would provide this genuine kindness! And the people here are nice and service is always fast! except every-time I have come in recently there is a newer female( today 6/2 had two French braids in her brown hair) just for clarification! I have on multiple occasions heard and seen her rudely "correct" costumers on the way they order their OWN sandwich. And I mean not everyone is going to want their sandwich " mikes way". I am included in that group I would say but you do not have to be rude or have an attitude. Today it happened to me, I asked for lettuce, mayo, mustard and all the shakers. There is no reason I should be met with " so you want it mikes way without tomato's or onions" in the rudest attitude then met with the her rolling her eyes at me. I've been a fan of Jersey Mike's for as long as they've been at this location. The subs are fresher, bigger, and higher quality than a lot of other options in the area. The best part about Jersey Mike's imo, is that they slice the meat right when you order it! My go-tos are the #7 and #8. My husband loves to get the Famous Philly and I have to admit, it is pretty dang good. Recently, I had earned enough points to get a free Giant so we shared one for lunch and it was great! Definitely enough for two hungry people. We order our cold subs with oil and vinegar and most of the sandwiches we've gotten in the past have been pretty heavy handed with it. Once it was so bad that the bottom of the bread was absolutely sopping with vinegar... it was just mush on one end. We do try to remember to ask them to go light on it now but keep that in mind when ordering. In our experience, everyone that works here is nice. The store seems clean most of the time though there has been the off time when it was less than stellar. It could just be they were too busy. Definitely check them out for a good sub! What stood out here today though was the exceptionally cordial service, particularly by the order taker. She was a middle-aged woman with short hair and clearly skilled in engagement and hospitality. This place is consistent at delivering an entirely frustrating and discombobulated experience. There seems to be ongoing, constant training (I'm assuming because of employee turnover) and the management (when present) doesn't appear to know the first thing about management. Nearly every time I've come here, the staff asks the customer a question, doesn't listen, and proceeds to just start making the sandwich how they see fit. "Do you want that Mike's Way?"... well I hope so because if not you've basically broken the machine and expect basic think-for-yourself to come into play which is obviously a no-no in any sort of training that they do. As a result, most of the time as a customer you end up micro managing the sandwich building process which also sends the 35 employees behind the counter scrambling in all directions asking each other what to do. This then tanks efficiency (thus the egregious overstaffing) and customers are left standing around, angry wondering how one business could make putting a sandwich together so hard. Oh, and your order is likely still wrong. This is nothing new, it's been going on at this location for years. Your best bet is to order online and take what you get. This strip mall location near the QFC food store is really convenient for me. And, What a deal! A $3.99 coupon was emailed to me that gives you a regular sub, chips and a drink! The sandwich board staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy taking care of customers. I loved my regular #7 on a fresh wheat roll with a generous portion of fresh sliced turkey and cheese lettuce, onions, tomatoes and of course topped it Mikes way! There is a good selection of chips, self serve Pepsi fountain products and a cooler with bottled drinks. Don't let any of these reviews fool you. These people are scum. Especially this location. I've had my meat raw in my philly cheese steak twice now. And the customer service is awful. Personally being in customer service myself for the last 5 years, they need to be retrained. Also, there's never parking and I always have to walk half way across the parking lot just to get there and I have a small child and knee problem. What a rip off!!!!! Almost 20 bucks for 2 of the smallest subs I've ever laid eyes on. The sausage fest crew running the counter were rude and unprofessional laughing at what we were ordering. The food had NO FLAVOR AT ALL!! The only thing had any taste to it was the oil and vinegar and jalapeños.... There was food under each and every single table in the place. It was so dirty i could have puked and my puke on the floor would have been more sanitary. I will never return. Ordered a veggie sandwich Mikes way and a kids size ham and cheese sandwich for my boys to share. There's no milk for little kids...An employee suggested lemonade but I try not to give my kids sugary drinks. Also added 2 bags of chips and asked for water cups. I was surprised it came to nearly 20 dollars. The veggie sandwich was just alright. There wasn't a lot of flavor. My 3 year old picked out the deli ham and ate his chips while my 1 year old ate part of the bun. They slice the meat and cheese for each sandwich as they are ordered...and they slice it super thin.
