What's so great about Jersey Mike's? Lemme tell you. Passed by this place dozens of times. Always looked but never stopped. Well, tonight was no different. Hubby and I were headed to the restaurant across the street but it was full. We both had never been to Jersey Mike's and said, "I'm game. You?" And there we were. First time for us both. Hubby knew it was expensive. I said, I don't mind if it's good. Looked at the prices and thought, "Not bad at all." Ordered the mini Italian Club meal. Perfect size and quantity for me. Hubby got a regular Mike's Chicken Philly. So let's go down the line. Gave my order to the guy, who was so patient, polite, unassuming, and kind. He went over all the stuff that came with it (lettuce, onions, tomato, olive oil, vinaigrette, oregano, etc) I swear, I asked him to repeat it twice just so I could get it right. Each time, he repeated it to me without attitude and at just the right pace as to not rush through the list. Can't say enough about how much I appreciated that professionalism. I dont think he was irritated but if he was, he sure didn't show it. How many times have I gone to their competitor (as if it actually compares) and felt like I was rushed or was an irritation, like a rash. And that's with me knowing what I want. Can just imagine if I didn't know like I was at Jersey Mike's. Anyway. I hope you get the idea. As I went down the line, I saw the next guy shaving the meats for my sandwich. Saw him layer it all on that yummy bread, nice and even, then put on the tomato and piled on the thinly sliced lettuce. Added on the rest of the seasonings and voila! a work of sandwich art. It was delish. For all that goes into the sandwich, I completely understand the higher price. So so so worth it. Jersey Mike's gets it right from sandwich to service to cleanliness of the place. The new normal, taking out during COVID19. This is my first time trying Jersey Mikes EVER. It was always out of my way to come down to University to give them a try. However I found myself in the area so we decided to try them out. We ordered a head of time online. The online ordering system is great and easy to use. They offer hot and cold sandwiches. I also like their online system because they have pictures for each sub. The Grub. California Chicken Cheese Steak ($9.95) This hot sub comes with freshly grilled chicken, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo and I ordered it with Rosemary Parmesan Bread. Located at the bottom of a new construction building near University of Hawaii, this is a great location along two busy streets. Parking can be a little tricky. I've had Jersey Mike in Hawaii Kai and this was a similar experience. Friendly customer service and good sandwiches. Jersey Mike's is a mainland sandwich chain that has slowly been spreading across Oahu. I never got to try one until recently and am glad this location opened. It's next to a few other chains in the new UH dorm building at the corner of King and University. This is a great option to get to-go food or eat in with plenty of indoor and outdoor tables. Parking is free but tricky, the garage is not a friendly design and there are limited stalls for the businesses. These are definitely catering to people walking; there's also bus stops right outside. The restaurant is clean, new, and brightly lit. The menu is simple; they have hot and cold subs. Cheese steaks, and Italian hoagies are their most popular options. All can be ordered Mike's way, which has classic vegetables and toppings. They have other options as well, all are included with the price. Subs come in three sizes: 18", 10", and 6". The medium size is about a meal for one person. The staff was very welcoming and excited to explain the place and help with the ordering. I look forward to trying a hot sub next time! read more

I'm not a big sub guy but I did try Jersey Mike's Subs before in the States. They recently opened a new location on the corner or King St and University Ave in the Hale Mahana Apartments (building with Starbucks, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and Pieology). It shares the same parking garage as the other businesses. It's new, clean and bright. The menu is simple and they are staffed for an opening. Everyone was very friendly and helpful which is always appreciated. No issues when we went so that was good. The only reason I came was that my friend really wanted to take advantage of their BOGO offer (he's more Chinese than I am). He even drove so I figured I should pay lol. We arrived shy of 11am on the last day of the BOGO offer and luckily it wasn't crazy busy yet. We got there before the lunch rush. There were two parties in front of us but they helped us in no time. During our wait, we checked out their giant menu board. We decided to share subs so we ordered one cold and one hot sub for variety. When you order, you order by the number of your sub on the menu board. I ordered a regular 56 (Big Kahuna Cheese Steak) and a regular 6 with all the veggies and juice (Famous Roast Beef and Provolone). My friend isn't big on veggies so I saw his face cringe a little when I said "with everything" lol. 56 came out shortly after the 6 and it was piping hot. We ate it there so the bread wasn't soggy and the cheese was still oozing. The 6 was good and they packed it with veggies. I would have liked it with a little more roast beef but overall, it wasn't bad. Don't think it would have had much flavor if the "juice" wasn't added. Cant believe people actually eat at Subway with Jersey Mike's in town! Giant #9 Mike's way plus some banana peppers and sauerkraut...oil and vinegar on the side so the leftovers dont get soggy. I've been going to Jersey Mike's for sometime now whenever I need a quick bite. The phone app is very convenient and you just go in and pick up. The main reason I consistently go there is the store is clean, staff is friendly and it's somewhat healthy (meaning, it's not greasy). I like vinegar and the banana peppers so it fits me fine. PARKING: You just go to the complex in the back and drive up the ramp. No need to take a ticket and I have always found a spot. However --- when you drive down the side alley to get to the parking, be careful. * The street is narrow, * it is two way, * there are pedestrians, * and for some odd reason there are some privileged individuals who think it is okay for them to just to park on the side of this narrow road. read more

So I went here two days in a row since they had a grand opening special. You could get any regular sandwich free when you buy one at regular price. They're located in that new complex in the university area. They're on the first floor next to pieology. They have free parking (maybe just for now) but the stalls are small and you have to be careful with where you park. The configuration of the store is kinda weird. You order from the middle to far end of the store where they have the meat slicer then move your way to the front of the store where you end up paying. It kinda causes a little bit of congestion and you kinda don't know who is in line to order and who already ordered and is waiting for their food. The service was always friendly and welcoming and the prices for a regular sub starts at about 8.50. I got my dad the cheesesteak but I don't know how it tasted since I gave it to him and I got the club mikes way which had some oils in it which made my sandwich super soggy. The next time around I got it without the oils and it held up a little better. I also tried the tuna sandwich which I preferred over the cold cuts for some reason. Also the mikes way didn't include pickles or jalapeños so make sure you ask for that too if you like those. You can also substitute your meats if there was a combination of them or the cheese. The provolone made my sandwich a little salty or something or maybe I just don't like that cheese so I swapped it for the Swiss the second time. Oh. Don't forget to grab napkins on the way out. It does get messy and they don't put it in the package for you. Also sign up for their email club. You get a free sandwich on your birthday. It was my 1st time here and I have been wanting to try this place for a very long time. I was definitely not disappointed. It took me a while to figure out what to order but the guy working behind the counter was very patient and super helpful. At 1st I was a little shocked at their prices because they were a little steep, however, I can see why. They use fresh ingredients all the way so it explains it and it's well worth it cause it tasted delicious! To be honest, this is the best fast food sub in Hawaii. Actually it's addictive and everyone I speak with agrees. I usually get the Big Kahuna hot Philli cheese steak, but recently read they got voted best casual-fast Italian sub in the country. This place is staffed by incompetent people. I waited over 30 minutes for my sandwich and walked out because they couldn't get it together. It wasn't just the uncaring way they chopped the bread in half, it was also the lazy sloppy way they made each sandwich. Also the way the young lady kept scraping at the empty pan of mayonnaise, unwilling to refill it, or the way she put fewer and fewer onions on each sandwich as she ran low on those as well. Why do I deserve to get less than they guy in front of me just because you're not willing to restock your ingredients? Speaking of the guy in front of me, she made the wrong sandwich for him, he didn't say anything, paid for it and left. Then she stood there not knowing what to do with his sandwich and played with it as if someone was going to tell her what to put on it. It was no one's sandwich at that point. You made the wrong sandwich for the other guy and he told you that, yet you could not put that puzzle together. When she dripped mustard all over my bread, I just left. I was pretty excited once Jersey Mike's opened on King street. I am a sucker for sandwiches and miss the ones I frequented on the east coast. This brings a little bit of home even though it's franchised, however it is locally owned. I do recommend signing up for their newsletter to receive coupons, and points for present and future purchases. The accumulation of shore points lead up to a FREE sandwich:) I had visited multiple locations on the island this one is more ideal since it's closer to where I am. I entered the shop and was welcomed by staff. It was clean and not packed. I perused the menu and opted for the Italian sub. It came with provolone, ham, cappacuolo, salami, and pepperoni. The sizes range from a mini, regular, and large. For my first visit, I decided a mini was not going to satisfy my hunger and ended with a regular which feeds 2 people I believe. Not with me lol. I devoured it. The sandwich was flavorful, but I found that there was more bread to meat ratio. I do recommend to have it mikes all the way with lettuce, tomato, and vinegar dressing. It marries well together. The other visits to the shop, I ordered the chicken Philly cheesesteak which was flavorful and filling. That can put you in a food coma right away lol. I do wish there was other bread options such as sesame French loaves. I will revisit and bring my better half next time:) read more
