My wife and I stopped by Hawaiian Aroma Caffè after Easter Sunday service at a nearby church, excited to try it together. I had visited their sister location the night before in Waikīkī and had such a great experience that I told my wife, "If this place is anything like last night, we're in for something good." She agreed--and we decided to give it a shot. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by Colby, a tall, friendly guy with a great attitude. I mentioned my experience from the night before, and he immediately said he wanted to live up to that standard. That kind of response set a really positive tone. We ordered two Aroma Specials: Dolce & Banana (me) Nutella Latte (my wife) For food, we went with: P.B. Delight açaí bowl Turkey pesto panini Bacon & egg bagel Total came out to about $62, which we expected given the location near the beach. We grabbed a seat inside by the window (outside seating was full--no surprise on such a beautiful morning). Our drinks came out quickly--but unfortunately, this is where things started a little rough. We both noticed right away that something was off. My wife's Nutella latte didn't have that rich hazelnut flavor you'd expect, and my Dolce & Banana was missing the banana entirely. Honestly, they tasted almost identical. When I politely mentioned it to a staff member who brought out our food, the response felt dismissive and didn't really address the concern--which was disappointing and definitely not the experience we were hoping for. At that point, we decided to just enjoy the food and move forward--and I'm glad we did, because the food was fantastic. The turkey pesto panini was loaded with flavor, perfectly crispy on the outside, and packed with melty cheese. The bacon & egg bagel was hearty, well-balanced, and super satisfying. The P.B. Delight açaí bowl was the surprise standout--perfectly blended, fresh, and the peanut butter added an awesome richness that made it feel like a treat. Everything on the food side absolutely delivered. A few minutes later, Colby came by to check on us--and this is where the entire experience turned around. I let him know honestly: "The food is amazing, but the coffee missed the mark." Without hesitation, without attitude, and without making excuses, he said, "Hang on, let me fix that." I even told him not to worry about it--we were enjoying ourselves regardless--but he insisted. "Rick, I got you," he said. Within minutes, he came back with two freshly made drinks and a sincere apology. We took a sip and immediately--night and day difference. The Nutella latte had that rich, distinct hazelnut flavor. The Dolce & Banana finally had that smooth, balanced banana note Exactly what we were hoping for the first time. Colby is the MVP Colby completely turned this experience around. His attitude never changed--he was smiling, positive, kind, and genuinely cared about making things right. No defensiveness, no excuses--just great customer service and follow-through. That kind of service is rare, and it matters. It's evident that not all the workers have that same dedication to customer service but Colby does! What could have been a disappointing visit ended up being a great one because of him. Hawaiian Aroma Caffè--take care of this young man! He represents your business incredibly well. He needs to be leading your team on what customer service looks like and they need to follow his lead. From naming customers by their first name, to holding that perfect smile the entire time, to checking in with guests after receiving their meals and really caring about their experience. Colby naturally has it and should be showing every one how to do it as well! The Future Looks Bright for Colby and if you don't take of him, someone smart will! Final Thoughts Great food, great location, and a really cool atmosphere--but what stood out most was the service recovery. Mistakes happen anywhere. We stopped by Hawaiian Aroma Caffe for breakfast because Vintage Island Coffee was ridiculously packed and we needed a place to grab food quickly before walking over to the zoo. Overall, it was pretty underwhelming. The acai bowl was very average and the fruit didn't taste fresh (honestly it felt like canned fruits). Coffee was also subpar and nothing memorable. If anything, the pesto sandwich my wife got was the best dish here. The space itself is very pretty and the service was okay, but overall this felt like a very standard cafe you'd find anywhere in Huntington or Newport Beach (for the SoCal peeps). I love this place. The Dolce Banana coffee is a favorite of mine and I found a review I posted here from 2016 for one of their previous locations, that is how long I have been a fan. This visit for brekky was great. An early Saturday in Waikiki, we stopped in for acai bowls and coffee, picked a table outside, and had a really relaxing visit. Located at the end of the busy Kalakaua strip where it settles down, just before you reach the Honolulu Zoo, this is a great location to sit and relax. Nice music was playing, not a familiar Playlist which was nice to hear something new yet trendy. Views of the ocean and sounds of the waves if you sit outside, or indoor seating is available. If you are not staying in Waikiki, you can find nearby parking at the zoo lot or side streets (a lot less expensive than in the hotel lots). They have more than one location in the area so if this is not close to you, look online to see if another spot may be. Their coffee is worth it. read more

We happened to stumble upon this caffe and were enticed in by their amazing pizza deals. They had a pizza and beer for $12 or pizza and cocktail combo for $15. I oped for the pizza and a frozen strawberry margarita. Both the food and the beverages were crafted to perfection . The Hawaiian aroma Café is so convenient from where we're staying. All the servers here are all kind and friendly with each other. It's nice to come into an establishment where everyone can have fun. Brings out some positive vibes. Very cool that there's seating inside or you can sit near the pool. The breakfast here is good and for reasonable price. The last time we had breakfast here we ordered the traditional waffle, two side of eggs and side of bacon. Of course we had to grab a hot latte for our coffee. Minus the clubby music (even at 6:45am), this spot was great. To note, I ate nothing and ordered a non-fat iced honey latte twice. It was a really great honey latte. My last day I went somewhere else and was so disappointed, because it didn't live up to the one here. Why so great? The pellet ice is a MVP move. Not cubed, but small pellets allowing for more ice. It was really sweet honey, but not overbearingly so, and it was the perfect amount, and the coffee strong. I only treat myself to sugar in my coffee while traveling, as in the honey, so this was a lovely lil' indulge. Inside is beautifully designed (again, minus the club vibe music), and there are some outdoor tables. It's right at the edge of the main strip of Waikiki with some ocean views. Wow! Amazing service from when I first entered to my departure! I came in, as my friend was already sat enjoying a drink! The mixologist Baylor was super friendly and very knowledgeable of his craft and curated the perfect cocktail for us. I was looking for something refreshing and light! Tried this place for a second time. This time I ordered a strawberry smoothie. It was perfect, not too sweet and it was refreshing. My toddler also really enjoyed it and probably ended up drinking most of it. The smoothie came out quickly and they brought it to our table. There was also a live DJ which was fun. I live in the area and looked up near by places to get an açaí bowl. That's how I came across Hawaiian Aroma Caffe. I have to go to the beach and gather up sand for an experiment (I'm not stealing sand) and this place is on the way. The girl working was like "oh we have the best açaí bowl" and I'm like aight bet. Yo. This açaí bowl is something else! I guess what I mean is my friend recommended HI Blend's açaí bowl and when I got it, it was just an açaí bowl for double the price of Da Spot's. This acai bowl has this different honey that slaps. It's so good! Bruh. Blue berries and strawberries are common, but I got black berries, raspberries (why is it spelled that way but not pronounced that way?), and chocolate chips. It's amazing. I will be returning real soon because my girlfriend also like acai bowls. The menu looks extensive too so I will come back and get a coffee one of these days. Only downside is the acai bowl took a while to make (like 20+ minutes. Maybe I caught them at a busy time? 9am on a Tuesday), and there was a lot of birds that got inside the cafe. The latte was really good, and the service was decent. It's conveniently located right across the street from the beach, which is a big plus.
