I have a serious love/hate relationship with Jersey Mike's. Their sandwiches could be good, but I have a hard time swallowing how much I pay for their subs sometimes. My fiancee and I ordered a mini #4 and their regular sized Italian sandwich (I can't remember the name). We threw in the combo option and walked out of there spending $30 -- what?!? It's not like this restaurant is fancy or anything. Sure, it's definitely a few steps above Subway, but when sandwiches are almost or even over $10, you better hope there's a lot going on on the inside of the sandwich. The perk about eating at a Jersey Mike's is that you get to enjoy them slicing away your meat that's going to be placed onto the sandwich, but the slices are so thin and they really don't fill it up that much, that I feel defeated, money wise, every time I order from them. Oh, and also, the mini is literally a mini...I could honestly say that mini sandwich size is fit for a kid's meal (that or maybe I just have a huge appetite). Anyway, prices aside, the sandwiches are pretty good. They are a little more on the salty side, but it's not overbearing. They're known for having their sandwiches made "Mike's Way", which is their oil/vinegar and some spice mix. If you order it this way, make sure to consume it ASAP as the sandwich could get soggy; they tend to slather it with a ton of oil and vinegar. Don't order from their app if you think standing around waiting for your food is wrong. We made the mistake of ordering 1 sandwich from their app and showed up too early to pick it up. Upon arriving at the store, it was pretty quiet (with only a few customers and no workers actually making any sandwiches). We informed them that we had placed an app order and they told us we were too early but don't worry, they would start on our order right away. So we waited...and waited...and waited. 15-20mins later, our sandwich is nowhere in sight. I asked a worker walking by and he said that we were too early for our sandwich. I told him that I understood that but we had been told they would be able to start our order since we were waiting. We were then told that they had not started our order and that there were others ahead of us. I informed them that I couldn't wait and would like to cancel our order and asked a worker if he could help us cancel it. He mumbled, 'I don't know how" and walked away from us. I asked to speak with the assistant manager and after waiting some more, she finally comes out. I explained the situation, including how we know we're early but that we had been told they could start our order. She asked for our name and said you're too early for your order. I realized then that I would never get any decent customer service from this store or this manager and kindly asked her to help cancel our order. She refunded our money but when we reinforced that her team member had given us false information that led to wasted time, she simply threw in, "thank you for treating us like shit." I'm not sure how we were made to feel like bad guys when we were lied to, wasted our time, and frankly WE were polite to everyone (including the assistant manager). The food here is average and definitely not good enough to subject customers to careless service. Don't bother with their app and better yet, don't bother with this restaurant when there are plenty of other wonderful local sandwich spots that will serve up amazing food w/ kind and caring service (e.g., #my deli, Gene's Grinders). read more

The past few visits have been kind of average. One time they forgot to give my fiancé one of the sandwiches in our order (only after we returned home). They apologized and ended up remaking the one my fiancé originally ordered for me because it wasn't what I wanted/could eat for being sick. A few nights ago we wanted to get a to go order again and there really wasn't a line inside (one person ordering before me). It really must have been an off day because not only were they understaffed, they charged me for the wrong sandwich and didn't apply the coupon I had for a free drink and chips. They were apologetic about it and were able to refund the price difference, however the line built up behind me. It probably would have helped if they had two cash registers. I like the Monrovia location. I've been to other Jersey Mike's locations (Azusa, Upland etc.) and it's not the same. The line moves slow, you have to sit down while they make your sandwich, they forget items in your sandwich etc. If you see a long line at this location, don't panic. The line actually moves fairly quickly. #8 CLUB SUB!!! The Club Sub is my absolute favorite sandwich to order here. It has turkey, ham, provolone, mayo and BACON... get it Mike's Way (with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, olive oil blend, red wine vinegar and spices). It's one of the most delicious sandwiches ever. The last time I was here, I ordered the #7 Turkey Breast and Provolone which is a healthier alternative. Tip #1 - I would not get it to go unless you are going to eat it quickly. With the olive oil and red wine vinegar... the bread will get soggy. Tip #2 - I always order the Mini sub size, however if you have a friend with you and you want the same sandwich, just order a regular size sandwich and split it. Ask them to wrap each half separately. Tip #3 - Don't forget to look for coupons. I honestly love Jersey Mike (wherever he may be). This place always has the freshest ingredients and the nicest staff (no matter which location you go to). Most recently I had the #9 (Club Supreme) and the #43 (Chipotle Cheesesteak) ... both were really good. The #9 is a cold sub, it's simple yet delicious - get it Mike's way (don't remember all the things it comes with, just do it!) ... the Chipotle Cheesesteak was my favorite by far ... so warm and tasty with yummy chipotle sauce ... not spicy per se, but very flavorful. Love the food but the service gets questionable when they get busy. Food 4/5 Service when not busy 4/5 Service when busy 2/5 The people making the sandwiches are fine, but it can be a frustrating experience picking up online or phone orders. When it's not busy they keep the pickups on the counter. When busy, the food is usually still in the back or sitting there after it's been made. This would be okay if there was someone responsible to check in with for pickups but this person is doing double duty at the register. The reason for the 2 star is that on multiple occasions, there is no line or system to getting her attention for pickup. You walk in on a crowded day and there's a mix of people who orders and are sitting and waiting 20 min for their order. Some are standing cause they asked if it was ready yet and they're told it's almost ready. Then there are online pick up orders in a similar situation. So I walk in. I filter through those that have a already checked in, and rather than rushing to the counter to barrage the poor lady juggling all the waiting people. I wait in line behind the other people patiently waiting their turn. But what happens? Someone always comes in while 2-3 of us are patiently waiting, walks around the line, interrupts the register lady and ... instead of redirect let them to wait behind the line of people who've been waiting 5 minutes for her attention, she attends to them. Is that the system? Come in and rush the counter and be the loudest person waiting? If the workers don't respect the line of people waiting patiently, why should wait patiently when the impatient are rewarded? Needs a better pickup system. read more

I usually order jersey mikes once a week, for a quick lunch or a quick dinner. I always use the app which is very easy to use and you accumulate points. The sandwiches are always fresh, and followed correctly. I did have 1 mistake on a past order. I called the store and the manager fixed the problem. This Jersey Mike's location is the best one I have been to. Whether I order in-person or online, they always get the order right, which should seem obvious, but I have gone to other locations and had orders wrong on numerous occasions. They really do go out of their way to accommodate you and get you a great tasting sandwich. The fact that they slice the meat and cheese to order is a very nice touch. Staff was kind and professional. My daughter eats GF bread. They just were unpacking their delivery and the young woman went back and got some for my daughter. While she was making my daughters a fly was crawling over the meat on mine. Without even asking she threw it out and make me a fresh one for me and did not charge me. I am so glad I walked into this location. They were kind and made sure they understood what I was asking and went above and beyond to make sure my order was as requested. Usually I'm not out in Monrovia too often but I had to help a client with one of their properties out there. Took a lunch break and found this Jersey Mikes around the corner. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I got the Roast Beef sandwich with everything on it and to my surprise the roast beef was super fresh and whoever prepped it sliced it perfectly. I'm a true fan of sandwiches, especially cold ones. I was skeptical when my sis only talked about how she loves how thinly sliced the meats and cheeses are and the cold crispness of the finely shredded lettuce. She also drenches the sandwich in oil and vinegar so we don't always agree on how we like our food. But I allowed her to show me her ways. I really didn't know what I was walking into, and I could tell right off the bat, if the place gets busy, I wouldn't want to be waiting in line. They move pretty quickly but they still have to slice everything as they go. We ordered 2 of the giant subs and it still took quite a while for them to get everything going. They have Mike's way which is loaded with all the fixings and a dash of oregano (I believe) but they dont' use mustard. I love my brown mustard on my sandwiches, and I'm a fan of hot yellow peppers but they have jalapenos (I got them on the side). The odd thing about their sandwiches are that they actually taste better once everything melds together and sits for awhile. If the bread doesn't get too soggy (ask for the vinegar/oil on the side) the meat/cheese veggies all sort of grow on each other and tastes more complex than when you just chomp away at it right away. Maybe it's just the 2 sandwiches we picked, the italian, and the club. I went back and ordered it on my own, and it happened to be someone who was in training.. it took quite a but longer for them to prepare it and then the wrapping of the sandwich was a disaster and they had to wrap it 3 or 4 times and I watched as everything was falling apart. (i think I can be a master at wrapping one of those giant subs now). I guess we've been lucky to go in when it's been slow and no one is waiting on our giant sandwich orders, or is ordering in front of us. They slice your meat and cheese on your sandwich to order and they have a pretty varied selection of sandwiches, salads, and wraps. You can even have the option to make your sandwich low carb sans the bread. The ingredients are fresh and definitely better than subway, but not as much selection as subway when it comes to breads and veggies. For breads it's either white or wheat. And your veggie choices are pretty much lettuce, tomatoes, onions, banana peppers, and pickles. I had the BLT. It was decent and the hub had the club supreme which was goood. I waited about 20 minutes just to order, had to correct the order multiple times, listened to the staff joke around (while all of us waited), and, when I expressed my frustration to the cashier, he told me that he just got there so it wasn't his fault. I admit, I am new to the Jersey Mike's club, but boy have I been missing out. What's great about these delicious creations is that it's not complicated. Simple ingredients combined with great enthusiasm and pride in what they do = great tasting food. I'm a huge fan of oil and vinegar on my subs and they get it. An extra couple of splashes here and some on the side even, they never get it wrong. And for those that prefer the drier side of things, if you know what you want, they'll easily make it happen. I think that often times not knowing what you want results in some kind of a criticism or complaint. Tonight we checked out a new location (off Huntington Drive in Monrovia) and these sandwich makers were nothing but welcoming smiles and warm service. I didn't catch their names, but my receipt says "Edgars" and there was a gal (brunette with glasses) and these two were a great team. My sister had never been before so she was asking for a few things on the side and they started getting a line, but not once did they show even a flicker of distraction rather, they were more than happy to accommodate.
