I've been going to this Habit location for a good while now, so I was sure I had already written a review. Apparently not! This is my first review of 2026, and my first review since securing my 5th year of Elite status. Food: Habit is a restaurant, so naturally our first priority is the food. In this respect, Habit does not disappoint. Habit had many options on the menu for all tastes and dietary needs, even for a strict adherent like myself. I always get the Ahi Tuna Filet on a wheat bun. It's delicious and fully customizable. I like to pick up some pickled jalapeños and hot sauce from the little pepper and sauce bar for my sandwich to kick it up a notch. Yum! Habit also cycles through some new and some recurring items, from deep fried green beans to Brussels sprouts, numerous sandwich variations, and several special/seasonal shake flavors. Right now, they have a Peppermint Bark milkshake, and let me tell you all something--it's times like this when I absolutely rue the day I switched to the Mediterranean diet. Peppermint shakes are my absolute weakness. Fortunately, my willpower holds firm, but it isn't easy. At least the kids can enjoy one for me. Service: The service at this Habit is nearly always good. They have two self-serve kiosks now, so I don't generally need to go to the counter anymore, but I still get plenty of chances to interact with the staff. Staff usually greet customers as they enter the restaurant, and they offer help to customers at the self-serve kiosk. When food is ready, whether for pick-up or dine-in, the staff call people up and offer napkins, sauces, etc. with a smile. Previously, I mentioned how I normally don't go to the counter anymore, but if you want a particularly customized sandwich, for example, I recommend doing so. The kiosk doesn't have any way to really fine tune an order, so you could end up wit your extra patty on the side in a separate container rather than on your sandwich, and if you wanted to add an additional Ahi steak to your sandwich, you'd have to go to the counter. Ambiance: It is in this category where I have some minor critiques; nevertheless, overall, the ambiance is nice. The store has a modern look to it, and there is a nice diversity of seating options from booths to tables big and small, and even a long, tall table for community-style seating. This is all great. The bathroom is nice and generally clean, so I have no complaints there. Sometimes, even during slower periods, like during yesterday's visit, the tables are slow to be cleaned. Although the restaurant was under 25% capacity (estimated, obviously), my kids and I struggled to find a single clean table. The one we eventually sat in was the cleanest of the booths in the half of the restaurant nearest the main door, and the one bench seat had a very large chunk missing from the upholstery. Overall: Overall, this restaurant is great. I buried my only, and admittedly minor, criticism near the end so that it would not overshadow what is meant to be a very positive review. I will absolutely keep returning to this location and enjoying my Ahi Tuna Filet Sandwich with extra tomato, no teriyaki or tartar sauce, add avocado, and my kids will continue to clamor for the Habit after the gym. I'm giving this a 5/5 stars, in spite of the minor issues with table turnover cleaning, as a 4/5 would be unfair. Nobody is perfect, but Habit comes pretty close. read more

Sooo I posted when this place first opened about 7 years ago and they were on point, 5 stars all the way!! But I've been 3 times in the last few months and I have been disappointed each and every time. The salads that used to be big and fluffy with lots of fresh ingredients are now on level of McDonalds. The burgers are a disappointment too. I don't understand why fast food establishments always start off gung ho and then figure that they don't have to keep up with the quality of their football food. So sad to see The Habit in decline. Been to various locations for over 10 years and used to have great tasting food, ample servings for reasonable prices. I don't know if it's this location only, Habits are franchises, or if it's simply the changes that come from being a part of YUM brands, but the quality and sizes are dramatically different now. Fries tasted like they had freezer burn. Double char burger was so much smaller and the meat had gristle and even a tiny bone chip fragment. Chicken club sandwich had cold greasy bread, limp bacon and dusty dry char grilled chicken. The tablet ordering system is ok but lacks proper customization options (like upgrading green beans from fries on combos). The best part of our dining experience was the friendly staff. I checked the bag and asked to correct it and they still could not get it right. Took three tries. By now we'll past 20 minutes. Let's start off by saying, I use to take the Amtrak train to Santa Barbara just to have lunch at The Habit; to me, it was a treat. Well, that was a long time ago. But when The Habit began to grow and expand, traveling to Santa Barbara became less important. Now with the Habit all over the place, I didn't have to travel so far, and that was a good thing. Since then, my two Habit places were in S. Pasadena and in Duarte; both use to be great stops for a quick burger snack; back when asking for a side of Ranch and a Side of Teriyaki was nothing but complimentary and no hassle. But recently, that all changed... and now, for the worse. I don't mind if The Habit wants to charge for a 'special' sauce that was not already a fixed side sauce item, but now The Habit wants to charge 60 cents for extra side sauces and to me, that is a Deal Breaker... I'm not buying it. My wife, mother-in-law, and I when to S. Pasadena to enjoy a quick mid-day meal, a meal that in total was close to $50, and to my surprise when I asked for our regular Ranch & Teriyaki sauces for each of us, yes, 3 Ranches and 3 Teriyakis, I was told we could only have 3 sides and the other 3 would be 60 cents each. Not buying it, I gave the food back and got a refund... we didn't eat, we walked out. I am not going to pay $50 dollars for a meal for three and then be nickel and dimes over 3 extra sauces that before use to be free. Since this change, I have not been back to Then Habit. And since then, I see they are still charging 60 cents for extra sauces. So, until they change this policy, I won't be back to The Habit. read more
