The sandwiches were great and the guys made it dinner and a show. They had music playing and were dancing behind the counter as they made the sandwiches. They even came over to see if we had any requests. My brother-in-law requested the old 60s song, Wipeout by the Safaris. They were happy to accommodate him. They even turned it into a music quiz by asking what song was in the dance contest in the movie, Pulp Fiction. The guys were having fun and trying their best to make sure it was fun for us, too. i'd seen the commercial on tv where you watch them make your sub, so I decided to go there today to try it out. Immediately after I walked in, a young man (about college age) saw me and walked over to the register. I didn't think nothing of it; I just stood in line at the counter to order my sandwich. The guy stood at the register watching while I ordered. He asked the young, lady before she started making my sandwich what did I order, and started ringing me up before the sandwich was made. This is not the custom for 'Subway' type shops. Usually you watch them make your sandwich, tell them what you want on it, before they bring it up to the register where they ask if you want to add drinks and chips. No, this kid had me up at the register, and demanded that I paid before the lady even started making it. It felt strange. I protested by saying that I wanted to watch her make my sandwich like everyone els, but he insisted that I paid first. She stood watching him and didn't start making my sandwich until I had paid. I asked him if Jersey Mike's did this with all their customers, he had a smug smile on his face and disn't answer my question. Now I'm a 68 year old disabled veteran. I always wear my Army unit cap when I go out because I'm constantly being be profiled since I moved here to Tucson over a decade ago. Even though they make a great turkey and provolone, I will not be returning to that store again. I did not feel welcomed. I gave it three stars for the food, and zero for the service. Yesterday 11/07 I got my usual #7 on wheat and was reminded of the best sandwich I ever had a Jersy Mike's and this was not it? The bread was not fresh, it was hard and crunchy. It's all about the bread! The best sandwich I've ever had at Jersey Mike's was on 10/22 at the same store on Grant. It was so good I called and spoke with Madison, the GM. Good food but terrible customer service. I made an online order but when I arrived they didn't have the order. It's a good thing I brought a copy of the order. They said they would make the order but they never apologized for the mixup. They kept taking new orders from people and making their orders until I spoke up and told them that I had been waiting for 20 minutes so could they please make my order. The food was good but the service is the worst I have ever seen. Whoever the manager is at this location, really needs to retrain the employees in customer service. read more

Online ordered my sandwich. Normally, not a bad experience. Today however the food was something I completely didn't order. Took the food home to discover this. Called the location was rudely put on hold for a manager. Someone had their small child there who picked up the phone and was playing with it. Then I heard someone ask what they were doing and hang up the phone. Called right back describing my previous call, rudely put back on hold for the manager again. Told her my situation. I dig this place. They make a solid sandwich. The service here is great; I always hear "Welcome" as soon as I walk in the door and "Thank you" as I'm leaving. The employees almost always make conversation and are very polite. I became familiar with Jersey Mike's because they did a couple of fundraisers for an animal shelter I volunteered for. I always appreciate a restaurant that demonstrates community responsibility and outreach. My order is almost always the same: turkey or Cali club, Mike's Way with banana peppers. You can add any veggie you like to your sandwich for free, which is nice. My boyfriend always adds grilled mushrooms on any sandwich he gets. He really likes the Big Kahuna cheesesteak and the Cali chicken cheesesteak. We often get a giant-sized sub and share it. I have a hard time finishing a regular size unless I'm really hungry, so I sometimes keep half for later. "The Juice" does make the bread soggy if you're not eating your sandwich right away. The place does seem a bit spendy. For a giant sandwich for my BF and I to split, it's more than $15. But it is a good-sized sandwich with quality ingredients, including fresh-sliced meat (they slice the meat for your sammie right in front of you). Sign up for their loyalty club, and they will send you lots of coupons, plus you earn points toward free sandwiches. read more

Seeing some of the poor reviews on Jersey Mike's I wasn't sure what to expect going in. In the end, both my wife and I were pretty happy. Of course, the coupon we used for a free sub could have made it taste that much better. The way they prepare the sandwiches was not conducive to moving the line of people that were there when I showed up looking to take food to go. That could be because they slice all the meats for the sandwiches to order. Not sure how that works for a cheesesteak or a hot/grilled sandwich of any sort but use your imagination here. My Big Kahuna cheesesteak came with steak and cheese (duh) and was further adorned with grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms and jalapeños. It was meaty, cheesy, oniony, mushroomy, spicy goodness. My wife's meatball sub was more tomatoey, cheesy goodness smothering tender meatballs. Again, we both pretty happy with our sandwiches. It's close to us and we'll probably return to try more of the menu. See... that's marketing at work. I popped in for a quick bite to eat this evening. I'm always looking for a good cheesesteak, so I tried theirs. The bread was fresh, crunchy outside soft and chewy inside. I added mayo, lettuce, tomato, and the cherry pepper relish. Getting mayo was a huge mistake because, good god, who puts 1/4 cup of mayo on a sub? Seriously, I'm not exaggerating at all. I tried to scrape some off, and even considered having them make it over, but didn't. This might have been a decent cheesesteak had I been able to taste it. Great sub joint! I got the number 9-roast beef and turkey (I get it without bacon) and it was so delicious! Very flavorful, the red wine vinegar really adds a lot to the sub. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly and the place was clean. I was watching the girl make the sandwiches, right no problem, UNTIL she kept her gloves on and used the register to ring someone up! THEN was going to proceed to make the next sandwiches! Oh heck no! I asked "aren't you going to change your gloves, you just used the till to ring someone up?" She became defensive, and said "well I only used my knuckle to ring them up." My husband took me here for a quick lunch about a week ago. I wasn't expecting much, and I just sort of figured it would be a regular, run of the mill sort of sandwich shop. We walked in and we were greeted very warmly by the staff. They asked what we were up to for the weekend and seemed genuinely interested in what we had to say. My husband had been here before and recommended that I only get half the amount of oil and vinegar since they can sort of pour it on. I got the tuna sandwich with light oil and vinegar. Boy am I glad I did! While what they put on was the perfect amount, anything more than that would have been too much. The sandwich was so tasty! I was a big fan! The only thing was, it got soggy really quickly. This may not be an issue to most, but once a bread gets soggy it's ruined for me. Yicky texture and such. But the tuna was right up there! I'm pretty picky, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience there. They always greet you, and the staff are consistently pleasant. I've been primarily a 'Kahuna, hold the mushrooms' guy, as they're always excellent, but I'm now trying some of the cold sandwiches, and they're equally good. Portions are fair, and the bread is always fresh. I've seen comments about the location but I've never had any problems getting in or out. I decided to give this place another try. The last time I was there, the service was more prompt. I didn't have to wait long and my sandwich was tasty. My only complaint is not with the restaurant itself, but with the establishment. Why is there a blank space on the receipt for gratuity when it's only fast food? If it were a sit down restaurant, where they took my order at the table and served drinks, I'd be more willing to give a tip. I'm a Jersey Boy. Friday night was sub night when I was boy back in Jersey and I always asked for an Italian Sub from 'Mike's Subs' back then. Ever since leaving Jersey I never found a sub that came close. When I saw we had Jersey Mike's in Tucson I related to the name and gave it a try, Their #13 Original Italian is an Awesome trip down memory lane ! Yes, they are a little generous with the lettuce and oil/ vinegar but you can always ask them to 'go light'. We also tried the Tuna Sub which is Way Better than Subway. I'm a fan and will definitely be a regular customer. Recommended ! BTW .. the positive comments in other posts about the friendly staff are true from my experience. read more

Well today was disappointing, went to this location a couple of weeks ago and was surprised how much better it was than most sandwich places; but today I ordered the big kahuna chicken and was expecting something over the top and after I got my sandwich I went limp. The bread was crumbling as I was eating it (something you'd expect from subway) ; only thing is subway only charges $6 for a sandwich and a drink; while I paid $13 for a lousy sandwich I'd expect to get from firehouse subs which isn't a compliment. Sean, Ray and Tommy were the three gentlemen that helped me, and all three of them were beyond friendly and professional. Went to Jersey Mikes on Grant for lunch. No other customers were in front of us, the girl who rang us up didn't ring up the correct order at first, no big deal, it was fixed, but seriously $25 for two sandwiches (1 combo)? Then several people came in after us, in the meantime, our order hasn't started being made yet. As we are standing there I can see the girl at the register and another employee trying to figure out where our order is. Finally someone realized it hadn't been made yet. My sandwich gets made, but in the meantime, other employees are chatting and joking around while we continue to wait for my husbands order. I don't except much from a lot of fast food places but for the price, and the fact that the employees couldn't seem to figure things out, I won't be going back, at least to this location. read more

I went here trying to find a great cheesesteak sandwich. The place is clean and no one was there at the time. I had a coupon so decided to try them. I asked for no bell peppers and they picked it out of the mixture. There weren't hardly any mushrooms I added to the original and I couldn't really taste them. There should've been more meat also. I tasted mostly bread. Not worth the price. I'd make it better with steak-ums. I also ordered a chicken parmesan and meatball sub and they were a little tastier than the steak. My b/f and I shared them. I will be getting meatball subs from subway from now on. They are cheaper and taste great. The chicken parm would've tasted better w/out the bread as a meal only. After waiting some time in line we ordered chicken Chipotle cheesesteaks. It sounded good with grilled chicken, onions, peppers, and Chipotle sauce. After a long wait what came was a small topping of grilled veggies with cheese and about a tablespoon of chicken. It was really thin from the skimpy toppings. It didn't have any Chipotle sauce. My buddy had the same sandwich made the same way. Several bites in the middle were bread only, and we assumed they made them wrong. The manager was working the front counter so we mentioned this to her. She was really a sport and apologized then offered us coupons for 2 new sandwiches. The sandwiches are good. The contents are fresh and abundant. I have not gotten a bad sandwich yet. The cons I have is lately the staff is not all that pleasant. When I first started getting sandwiches there (shortly after they opened) the staff was always friendly and pleasant. Even though the sandwiches are good customers can stop coming back if they don't want to encounter an unpleasant experience with the staff. Freshly sliced meat, although I couldn't quite taste the pepperoni on my Italian. The shape was odd (bread slices all the way through), maybe that's a North Jersey thing?
