Showed up here on a Friday at 8:55pm, based off the google maps time it says they're open until 10pm Fridays (pictured and underlined in red) we had a group of 6-7 people on their way there as well. The bartender says "we're closing in 5 minutes" as we walk in. And I said "oh no! we've got a group of people coming here right now, it says 10pm on google maps?" He proceeds to ask his phone "HEY GOOGLE JERSEYS BAR HOURS.... YUP 9PM. You guys are fucked. Good luck." Fix your google maps hours. Not our fault. read more

One of the few local places that serve broasted chicken everyday! We tried the broasted chicken (pretty good!), fried potatoes (pretty good as well), and burger (okay). I will definitely come back for the broasted chicken next time I'm in the mood for some, probably will pass on the burger though. Customer service was minimal, but sufficient. I get it, it's a dive bar and we weren't one of their regulars. read more

Tankard Tavern is not a family restaurant. It's a locals, blue collar bar, that serves inexpensive food for the working class in Junction City. They do the obligatory burgers, sandwiches, and fried appetizers, but the real draw is the broasted chicken. $12.50 for the 8 piece chicken only meal is amazing. The chicken is crispy, moist, and delicious. They do daily lunch and dinner specials that are extremely reasonable. (Like the Sunday all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner for $6.50!) Good food, friendly service, inexpensive, this is the kind of place you hope to occasionally run across in rural areas. read more

We went for the food & not the atmosphere--this is a bar with pool table, etc. Their broasted chicken was wonderful! It's crispy on the outside & moist & tender on the inside & NOT greasy! Soooo good!! I had the JoJo's which Elana made thin & crispy for me & they were very good as well! This is a nice clean bar with a friendly staff and if you are in Jc or Harrisburg and want to play pool drink and listen to a nice new jukebox this place is laid back and the bar food is all good. They have lots of baseball and NASCAR memorabilia. read more

Jersey's is the best undiscovered secret in Junction City! Tucked away off Hwy 99 on the South edge of town, it's a clean little sports bar with the best burgers in town. The burgers are huge! Usually enough for 2 people to share, or take the other half home for another meal. I had the Bronco Burger, $9.95 for a half pound burger with smokey bacon, onion rings, and BBQ sauce, and choice of sides. They also have wraps, salads, the best broasted chicken around, and typical bar food yummy goodness! Drinks are a reasonable price and well made. They have great karaoke twice a week too! If you are looking for consistently good food in a fun and clean atmosphere, Jersey's is your place to go in Junction City! read more

The chicken is OUTSTANDING!! It's prepared after you order so it's hot and steamy. The only reason I only gave it four stars was the weak beer selection. Friendly, accommodating service. Great on Monday night when you don't have ESPN at home. read more

I stopped in here on a weekday night with my boyfriend to grab some food with little to low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. As everyone else has said, the fried chicken is really really good, though definitely made with a purchased batter; this is after all still a bar. The inside is dark with some slot machines along the back wall, an assortment of tables and chairs, and a pool table (No fee!) to the right of the entry. They had a couple of craft options on draft and the single bartender, also acting as waitress was really cool. I don't like plastic waste so I asked her if she could put the dipping sauces (they had three types) on the plate instead of in little cups. She not only brought it out that way without a fuss but even went so far as to offer a clean bar rag instead of paper napkins to save further paper. I was really impressed with the service in a place I wouldn't have expected to take kindly to special requests. Great little bar. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Hit another of our former haunts tonight. I used to work in J.C. and we would go to the Tankard a couple of times a month for lunch and it was always good, but that was 17 years ago. I'm happy to say things haven't changed too much. A little cleaner and better lit than it was then but still catering to a local crowd of regulars. Lots of big screens with a variety of sports events showing. The Tankard is not a big place but is comfortable even with 30 -40 people inside. The prerequisite lottery games of course and just 1 pool table. Has a small stage for bands and small dance floor to go with it. Of course it 's a tavern so you have to start with the beer. They have 6 beers on tap, I went for the Fat Tire as that was the only darker beer thay had. With all the micro brews in this area why is it so hard to get a good stout in a tavern? Simple blue collar fare on the menu, burgers, salads, deep fried stuff and of course broasted chicken. The Tankard has been known for their chicken for as long as I can remember. My wife got the 4 piece chicken with jojo's and I had a bacon cheese burger with tots. The burger had a 1/2 lb patty, plenty of cheese and lots of bacon. It was really good! The bun was fresh and steamed to soften it up. The tots were nice and crunchy on the outside without being overcooked on the inside. The chicken was as good as we remembered, crispy on the outside with just the right spices in the batter and succulent on the inside. The white meat was moist and tender and the jojo's were done to perfection. The meal was excellent, wish I could say the same about the service. Started out very prompt but after we had ordered our food it just kind of stopped. After we were served our food we didn't even get a how ya doin'. If you're not a regular and you want a second glass of something apparently you have to go the bar to get it. In her defense, she was the only one working the bar and tables for about 20 people but still.... Over all an excellent meal in a homey, comfortable atmosphere and with tip was under $35. Great value and we will go back again. read more
