Mezza Platter
Fred B.

I have visited this newest Ghassan's spot in the Grandover Village location several times so once it opened. I can't count the number of time I've had the food at the various locations, probably over 100. This small, local chain started in 1970 on what was the then (and remains so for some of us) High Point Road near Stamey's. They moved into a spot vacated by a pancake house and remained there for about 45 years before closing. The menu has been reworked from time to time, but the classics remain as always - Steak and Cheese Sub, Chicken Kabobs with double salad, gyro, falafel, hummus, Beef Kabobs, tabouli, za'atar fries, mezza platter, wraps, chicken salad, and more - and they have number of rice bowls you can choose from - Chicken Shawarma, Harissa Chicken, and others. On my visits here I'v had my favorite, Double Chicken Kabobs with Double Salad , as well as the Mezza Platter, Za'atar Fries, Steak and Cheese Sub, and several Rice Bowls. All good stuff. In my opinion, this restaurant chain offers the best combination of semi-fast food Mediterranean in the area.

Many specific options available. All good here. Clean on the inside as well. Had the fries as a side and that was delicious too.

Lebanese salad with Falafel Bites

This salad hit the spot today! Such a great place to stop in for a quick healthy meal and they have vegetarian options! This is the Lebanese falafel salad with feta crumbles cucumbers lettuce olives and house made Greek salad dressing. One of my go to meals when I need something quick, healthy and budget friendly!

Varied menu and easy to navigate!!

When I first moved back to Greensboro in 1989 there was no such thing as Middle Eastern food that I recall until Ghassan's hit the scene. They were truly pioneers as community members and restaurateurs. I was curious to see what they had to offer after my numerous trips to Israel and delighting in true Middle Eastern food from both Jews and Arabs in the Holy Land. I found Ghassan's fine back then and fine now but it always feels like I'm having Middle Eastern - lite!, Over time, subsequent restaurants opened up like Mythos and Nazareth Bread and Odeh's And Sarah's Kabob Shop, and so my visits to Ghassan's waned over the years. It just so happened that I was bringing a friend of mine lunch and she suggested Ghassan's which is near they their house so I thought it was high time to give this place another shot. This location is conveniently placed on Cornwallis, so it is easy to get to and easy to park which I really appreciate. The place looked pretty much the same with its generic façade and interior. I like when ethnic restaurants decorate their establishments with some kind of visual architecture that ties into their cuisine. None of that at Ghassan's, but the the hungry crowd on line did not seem to care! The service was quick and polite and within a few minutes I left with our take-out dishes. Typical stuff. Chicken kabobs with pita bread and hummus and the hummus tasted like it came out of a can. None of us completed our meals and much preferred conversation and friendship over the lunch, which is not a bad thing, but...I can't quite put my finger on it, but this place just does not call to me when there are so many other wonderful Middle Eastern restaurants in the area that have a ethnic flair, tastier, larger portions, better priced, and more appealing. I must take my hat off to Ghassan's for longevity. They were here long before the others and continue obviously to thrive. It's just not my cup of Middle Eastern tea! But, if you are by one of their locations It's certainly worth a stop! I, on the other hand in the future will prefer to drive a little further and get to one of my favorite Middle Eastern haunts that provide me with the portion and price and flair that I am looking for! You do you and I'll do me! That's what makes kebabs and our world go round!!

Gyro with zataar fries and tabouleh
Zac G.

(3.5 stars) The newest location of this Greensboro institution opened recently in the Grandover Village shopping center near Publix. Those who have been to the Battleground or Cornwallis locations (or the old Coliseum-area spot) will find few surprises here. For the uninitiated, Ghassan's serves up thoroughly average food quickly and affordably. Though it doesn't boast a huge menu, Ghassan's offers a fair amount of flexibility. You can go light with a salad, hummus, or falafel bites, dig into a sandwich or pita, or load up on a bowl or platter. Meats include spiced chicken, kofte, and gyro (as well as a steak sub), but there are plenty of vegetarian options as well. Seeking a lighter meal that would still leave me a little left over, I opted for a gyro pita with zaatar fries and added a side of tabouleh. Online ordering was easy, and Ghassan's prices are wallet friendly ($9 for the gyro and a side, $1 more for the tabouleh). Everything was ready and waiting on a pick-up shelf when I got there. For as efficient and convenient as Ghassan's is, the food is, on average, merely OK. The zaatar fries (crispy and nicely seasoned) are quite good, but the tabouleh didn't distinguish itself, and the gyro was bland. Unless you are brand-new to the Greensboro/Jamestown/High Point area and made Ghassan's your first stop, you've likely had better Mediterranean food elsewhere. All told, Ghassan's is a great place to grab a quick and healthy lunch, but if you have the time to sit down and enjoy your meal, there are stronger contenders.

Not far off I-74 is one of the Ghassan's locations which is a local business in Greensboro sharing Lebanese cuisine. This particular new location is fast-casual where you get a number for your table after ordering at the counter. The price is excellent for the amount of money you pay ($9 for pitas). Many of their options are platters and pitas which comes with 2 and 1 sides respectively. You have several side options, and Ghassan's does not skimp on the za'atar fry seasoning if you choose seasoned fries. They do have some Americanized subs like beef & cheese or pastrami. I had excellent service from 2 people who interacted with us, including several personalized visits to our table to ask about our meals. This location is in a strip mall by Publix, Chick-fil-A, Jersey Mike's, and more.

Really nice to see this restaurant open in this nice location. Very clean and modern atmosphere. Surrounded by other fast food but this food does not taste like fast food. Lines at Chick Filet, lucky for me, so I could get a much better lunch sooner! The shawarma pita was excellent with tons of flavor and not overkill on the spice or juices. Sometimes a pita sandwich can get a little wet and hard to eat. This one was perfect. My side was fried cauliflower and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't covered in a heavy batter and in my opinion was more sautéed than fried. Delicious and better than fries for you. Very healthy food and since I just got water it was under $10!! I will be back for sure.

Love this brand new and conveniently located Mediterranean restaurant near all the big new developments in Jamestown! Also, really happy that a local place took one of these spots, as so far, most of the shopping center has lured the big national chains. Ghassan's is nothing new in Greensboro, as they have been around since, well, as long as I can remember... and I am starting to get a little... seasoned. That said, it has never been my favorite, but also not my least favorite. Right in the middle of the road. One thing is for sure, they're a well oiled machine, and impressively, this new location is already operating efficiently! Love the smaller menu and reasonable prices, as well as options for those looking to be more healthy. We got in, ordered, and had fresh hot food in front of us in less than 10 minutes, so, awesome! The food was good. I ordered the kafta platter, and while I enjoy the spices more at some of their competition, I can say for certain these balls of beef and spices were cooked on the money, tender and juicy all the way thru. I went for Za'tar fries and side salad, and really liked the fries though I am anxious to try some of the other side options next time. I also like that it comes with warm pita and hummus. The pita was really nice slightly doughy texture, the hummus, nothing to stand out, but good. My companion ordered the garlic chicken sandwich, and even as a garlic lover said it was a little much for her! I also love garlic, and when I took a bite, loved the heavy garlic zing. But yes, you have to love garlic, haha. She got the pasta salad as a side, her only complaint, she'd have liked more of it. They carry Coke products and the tea was very good, a strong steep. The restaurant is open and spacious, probably room for about 50 to dine-in, and the patio provides even more seating on nice days. The area in general is brand new and attractive. We enjoyed this visit, not as much as our favorite place down the road in High Point, but we love the convenience of this spot so are sure to visit again!

Garlic chicken sub

I went during opening week. I totally get it. This is more 3.75 for me but considering the crowd and grand opening they managed the ordering process rather well. It was a downpour outside so the extra wait time was fine for me. I ordered Garlic Chicken sub. Fries on a sub are the best thing ever. Some may say it's filler but I say "killer". Those Lebanese pickles set it off just right. I could eat a jar of those. So crisp and briny. For me, I didn't get enough garlic flavor. There was sauce. I could have used a tad more but that garlic flavor wasn't as pronounced as I wanted it to be for my tastes. I'll still recommend this sub. What I am on the fence about is the fried cauliflower. I asked for a reco of the most popular side other than fries. I was not I the mode for one more "entree & fries" combo. (I need America to create a new side dish.) She suggested the fried cauliflower and stated it was flash fried and not greasy. Okay. I went for it. Ummmmm, maybe the grease wasn't hot? The cauliflower I got? Greasy. You'll see the erl slick in the picture. Yes, I am country. It's "erl" not "oil". Not sure I want to take my chances again. I can only image what the fries looked like. I will say decent flavor but way too much grease. I've eaten at Ghassan's back in the day. Love the food. I wasn't driving to that side of town for it. I know I'll be back to this one. By then maybe the new restaurant jitters & crowds will have dies down.

We were so excited to check out the new Ghassan's location opening in Grandover Village Shopping Center when we seen the signs on a recent Publix trip. Even more so when we seen the posts on Instagram inviting the community to a soft opening event. We lucked up and grabbed a spot when they released a few extras for Monday evening. The interior was bright and welcoming. Everything looked super clean. The service was friendly and the food came out fast. It was 13 minutes from the time we walked in the door until the food was delivered to the table and most of that was probably us trying to decide what to order. Everything sounded good so narrowing it down to the steak and cheese and harissa chicken bowl was tough but they were both solid options I would order again. The harissa chicken had great flavor and was quite filling. The bread for the steak and cheese was perfectly toasted and the steak and fries were both seasoned well. Everything was fresh and delicious. This is a great local addition to an area that has many chain fast food options. Their official opening day is tomorrow, April 4th, and I wish them lots of success. Thanks for inviting us out to check out all you have to offer!

Decided to stop in for something to eat after getting my nails down. My daughter had stated she'd had a great salad here. I walkin, 0 people in line. A couple of people at a couple of tables. I was taking my food to go. Ordered fries and a salad. Stood there waiting for over 30 minutes. Finally flagged down the women who had took my order. She acted like she didn't even remember taking my order. I was about to just say give me my money back. She said I'll go check on it. It was a few more minutes but then came out with my order. She asked if I wanted a complimentary drink(would have been nice during the 45 minutes I Stood there) I said no, took my food and left. The fries were ok, wasn't crazy about them. The salad was good, but not enough dressing for a large salad. It's not worth going back again. Nor will I be recommending to anyone. Next time I'll head over to Pladium to Mad Greek Grill when looking for a salad.

Double Chicken Kabob Platter

The location is convenient and has ample parking. The interior is very modern and clean. I walked up to the counter to place my order and I really wasn't sure what I wanted. I said I needed a moment to browse. Not long but just a few seconds. She said ok, but walked off to take care of other stuff. So my few seconds turned into a couple of minutes of waiting for her to return. Don't get me wrong, she was polite and she brought my meal with a huge smile. I chose the chicken kabobs with rice and salad. It has an awesome presentation. I've been to other Mediterranean restaurants and this meal lacked the flavor. The chicken was dry. I didn't eat the second kabob. The salad was ok, the dressing didn't have much flavor. Tasted like just oil. The rice was mostly gummy and had a crunchy top layer. The pita was fine. The tahini sauce was bland. Overall, meh, but it was one of those occasions where it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. If my second visit is like my first, I most likely will pass on a third visit.

If you've ever dreamed of visiting Istanbul for authentic Turkish cuisine, you don't have to travel…read morethat far, just head to Zeeyum Kitchen on W. Market Street in Greensboro! After hearing so many great things, my family and I finally decided to try it this weekend, and all I can say is... WOW! What an incredible experience from start to finish. First, let me say that Zee, the owner and chef, is one of the most welcoming restaurateurs you'll ever meet. He not only prepares amazing food but also takes the time to personally greet his guests, making you feel like family the moment you walk in. We started with the Hummus and Fresh Flatbread, and it was absolutely outstanding, fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. Next came the Börek (Ground Beef and Feta Cheese). Think of it as the best, most flavorful "egg roll" you've ever had, but with authentic Turkish flair. Simply delicious! I had the Bugu Kebabi, served in a clay plate with red onions and tomatoes. Sealed with baked bread. I'm usually not a lamb person, but when Zee explained that the lamb is marinated for hours in an onion-based broth, I decided to step outside my comfort zone. I'm so glad I did! The lamb was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. The presentation was also unique and memorable, with the delicate thin bread cut open right at the table. It was more than enough for my daughter and me to share. My wife ordered the Beyti Kebab, is a Turkish dish consisting of ground beef, grilled on a skewer and served wrapped in lavash and topped with yogurt sauce and butter sauce. Every single bite was bursting with amazing flavors. Another outstanding dish! All the desserts are to die for, many are imported from Turkey. Before you leave, don't miss the opportunity to enjoy an authentic Turkish Coffee, Turkish Wines, or a Turkish Beers to complete the experience. If you're looking for a restaurant that offers healthy, authentic, delicious, and very reasonably priced food, Zeeyum Kitchen should absolutely be on your list. The service is exceptional, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and there's plenty of convenient parking. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back!!!

Kofte meatballs are also outstanding, if you prefer beef. There's a whole page of vegan dishes, as well Baklava selection is beyond words. All of us had a lovely time. Can't wait to repeat.

We didn't even need to look at the menu because we both wanted the Iskander Platter. Lucky we came in when we did because we got the last of it. Since having it the first time, I've watched a few recipe videos on how it's made. It's quite a process and takes a while so it's understandable they can't just make more quickly if they run out. This time it had a little different flavor than the last time. It had a saltier flavor and not quite as buttery as I remembered which was disappointing since that was the best part for me. It was still delicious but I was happy for the yogurt that helped cut the saltiness a little. Possibly the sauce became more concentrated since it was the end of the batch they had. I could only finish half because it's such a large portion but my husband finished his. The service was super friendly as always. The owners here are so lovely and always attentive.
