Picked up my car at 10:30 am after them having for 3 weeks, payed and went to get in my car and it had been broken into. I went back into the office and was trying to figure out what happened, and a worker started off by saying it's not a big deal and that they are not liable when THEY left my car unlocked and THEY were watching over it. that's when i lost it. then the worker came outside we were yelling at eachother and slammed my car door in my face. I brought my car in after the rear differential i had replaced 3 months prior went out. i understand it's not their fault but it's the way they handled things.. very suspicious. owner was trying to be helpful but i can't trust this situation. my insurance is now dealing with it. do not trust with your car! wish i could give 0 star, very unprofessional read more

Got it back on a Monday afternoon.next day started it engine light on it both times was showing codes for transmission issues.regulator, 1st time.second time same code.autozone did the check.well as of toady 6/5/23.theu will have it 3 weeks.they said it was selinoid but there was no codes to show that on 2 other tests.its electrical problems with the wiring, it can't be drove cause it could get hot .I told them my mechanic would have had it done.so I'm not sure what it will be next.not happy read more

Highly disappointed with the service and customer service provided. This location was recommended by a few people so I brought my car for a diagnosis and was told by their mechanic I needed to have the transmission rebuilt. They had my car for about two weeks and then received a payment of about $3740 and my car still isn't operating the way it should be after paying $3740; it actually feels worse AND my A/C wasn't working. When I picked it up I was told "it's like a baby walking so everything has to wake up but drive normal till I reach 300miles". The first week it broke down about 45mins from home and wouldn't accelerate past 15mph; and I was only at 256 miles. I returned it the following Monday and my car wasn't looked at until that THURSDAY. I was then advised I might need to bring it back a few times for reprogramming but I could take it and test drive it myself. I called a couple days later and let them know the issue is still there and was then advised I needed a transmission computer module and NOW they want $470 to repair THAT saying it's a different issue which I feel should've been included when they did the transmission repair especially since the car hasn't worked properly even after paying $3740. I'm highly disappointed because for all that i could've got a new car instead of driving a vehicle that isn't fully operable for me and my three children. I used my last for repairs and lost my job waiting 4 days for my car to be looked at and reset after I had just paid $3740. I started having issues with my car and check engine light came on about two weeks ago. i had autozone do a free diagnostic for me and figured out it was my MAP sensor. I have a 2017 ford focus so nobody wants to touch my car or even inspect it. so when i called jess lewis and they said "they work alongside with ford" and they'd figure out what was going on, they work on fords all the time. When i went in i told them i needed my MAP sensor replaced and the symptoms my car was having made it seem like a transmission issue so if they ran their own diagnostic, replaced the sensor and it still had problems they'd figure out what's wrong with my transmission and give me an estimate. Total estimate came out to $3,737.34 for a TMC installation and a rebuilt transmission. I saw that and PANICKED but then i looked closer at the invoice and inspection and i read the reviews of this place and soemthing just didn't sit right with me. I went to pick up my car and i went to ford dealership and service and they took one look under my hood and told me "i can tell nobody has even been in here to inspect your car" because if they would have they would of seen my loose air filter that was setting off my sensor code. he put it back in and ran diagnostic on my car and told me my transmission was just fine, i have no other issues with my vehicle and when i test drove it, it felt back to normal so delayed shifting or acceleration. I would not recommend this place to anyone, they tell everyone the same exact problems from what i've read of their reviews, they just want your money this place is a total scam. read more

don't bring your car here unless you have time to be bs'd around about when it will be done. my husband called 12/26 to see about getting our car looked at. told them the problem it was having & they said "we're available all day bring it & give us an hour" he took it around 11-1130am by 2pm nobody had called so he called to check in & was told "just finished up sending the quote now" wouldn't provide the quote over the phone, took another 30+ mins just to get the quote & they try to say something additional is wrong with it... ball joints, yet they're a transmission shop not sure why they're even looking at those. anyway husband approves the work to be done (tube that holds the dipstick for transmission oil) they say "okay it'll be done tomorrow if the part isn't on back order i'll call you back in a few mins to let you know if it's on back order or not" as expected, they did NOT call. he called again & was told the part is in we will have it done tomorrow (12/27). husband had to find ride to & from work on 12/27. calls shop around 2pm & is told it's being worked on now "you'll receive a text if it's done today, if it's not you won't" idk what kind of answer that is, any other car shop i have ever used can give an estimated time. it's not hard, but these people act like it's rocket science. calls again around 5, and is told "i'm not even sure if it's IN the shop. should be done SOMETIME tomorrow (12/28)" finally i call at 5:09, tell the guy if my car is not actively taken apart i am coming to get it. guy magically knows that it's up on the hoist being worked on, yet he didn't know that less than 20 mins earlier when my husband called. guy tries to say "usually transmission work takes 3-5 business days" you're replacing a tube... i cannot imagine it being that hard/time consuming. & if it takes that long that should have been said from the beginning because we never would have approved the work. i ask again for an estimated time. "he's finishing up but we still have to take it on a test drive before we hand it over" okay.... so how long can that possibly take that you can't give me a time in the morning it will be done? doesn't make any sense & seems like they don't have basic communication skills. they don't even offer to call you they say "we will text you". we've had to call a total of 6 times to get an update on OUR car. guy says "if you're not happy you don't have to come back" duh dipshit, i won't be. neither will very many others. don't quote/make time commitments you can't uphold. 12/28 husband calls again at around 11am, shop opened at 7... plenty of time to have finished the work. "it needs to be inspected it will be done in 30min" 12:15pm still no text, he's heading there anyway because this is ridiculous. car wasn't done until 1pm, these idiots charged us an extra $95 because THEY are stupid & can't understand. dummy who took the car in said we told him the car was making a popping noise so they checked the ball bearings. that's not what was said & even if it WAS you're a TRANSMISSION shop so why are you looking at anything that's not under the hood. thieves & will be filing a report with the BBB. read more

This had to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had . I myself own a respectable business and would never treat my customers the same way I was treated .I bought a transmission from Jess Lewis brought home .had my professional mechanic install it . It set codes immediately and would not shift . Call and they said bring it to them . They had my truck for 2 months blaming the problem on me .they used the excuse we didn't clean rhe lines when it in fact was a bad transmission. I then received another big bill to justify there failure. As I drive home the transmission line came loose and than lost all the fluid .I called and again it was my fault .. what a place . They've had our vehicle for well over a month, said they were going to charge us $1000+ for work they had already done that had gone wrong and was covered by warranty, then back tracked when we brought up the warranty. Car was supposed to be ready to pick up (finally) today, we called and checked just a few days ago, but called before leaving today and it's not finished. We are moving out of state in two days and really need our car back! Will be recommending their services to anyone once we get our car back. read more

I brought my 2001 Plymouth Neon with approximately 170,000 miles into Jess Lewis Transmission because it was in desperate need of a new transmission. I had a summer internship in San Jose, California and I was planning on driving my Neon across the country from Indiana. I estimated that I would drive approximately 5,000 miles just on the way out to California because I decided to make a road trip out of it and roughly 10,000+ miles over the course of the entire summer! Dan, who I believe is the owner of Jess Lewis Transmission, could not have been more respectful and kind to me. HOWEVER, Danny, who I believe is his son, was the complete opposite. He has absolutely no business being in ANY role that involves customer relations. Danny is, without a doubt, the most RUDE, INCONSIDERATE, and DISRESPECTFUL person that I have ever met and with whom I have ever had to do business. It is truly a shame that Jess Lewis Transmission allows such a person to interact with their customers as it honestly, in my opinion, ruins any reputation they may have as a transmission shop. Unfortunately, I did not interact with Danny until after my transmission was already installed. Had I met him beforehand, I would have taken my business elsewhere. I paid $1200 plus tax for a rebuilt transmission that included a one year, 12,000 mile warranty, which, I later discovered, is far below the industry standard and the competition. I spoke with other transmission shops in Fort Wayne, IN (including Summit Transmission) and they all informed me that they would have charged me $1150 plus tax for a rebuilt transmission and that it would have included a two year, 24,000 mile warranty. Hindsight is 20/20, but I truly wish that I had done a better job of doing my homework before deciding upon Jess Lewis. Anyways, I had my transmission rebuilt at Jess Lewis and other than a leaking seal that I found about a week later (which Jess Lewis replaced free of charge), the transmission seemed to work very well. It made it all the way out to California (just over 5,400 miles total) through every imaginable condition...rain, sleet, snow, dust, scorching deserts, gravel roads, and mountain roads (most of which were gravel) that climbed over 12,000 feet in a matter of a few miles, just to name a few. From a quality of work perspective, I was very satisfied. After I arrived in California and settled in, I took my Neon to the most reputable transmission shop I could find in San Jose (Mike's Transmission) to check on that seal that had previously leaked. As luck would have it, it was leaking again, only this time it was a significantly bigger and faster leak. Mike, and his wife, Patty, were incredibly considerate and respectful and were completely willing to work with Jess Lewis in terms of warranty fulfillment. Unfortunately, Jess Lewis Transmission was not. Upon inspection, Mike told me that the cause of the leaking seal was a very rusty axle, of which Jess Lewis Transmission failed to inform me, both when they installed the rebuilt transmission and when they replaced the seal a week later. Jess Lewis knew that I was planning on taking my car across the country and back and they knew that I had a rusty axle. Their negligence could have resulted in a very costly incident, both for them and for me. Needless to say, I was furious. Mike told me that if he had done this work he would have certainly informed me of the rusty axle (like any reputable transmission shop would), especially since it would almost certainly cause a leak. He also said that, if for some reason he failed to inform me, he would have paid for everything to have it fixed. Guess what? Jess Lewis did not agree. Mike told me that it would cost just over $300 to replace and install a new axle, a new seal, and the lost transmission fluid. Jess Lewis was only willing to pay $64 worth of the $300+ (great warranty...NOT!). When Mike spoke with Dan, the owner, he told me that it was a very good experience and that Dan truly wanted to help. However, later in the day when Mike's wife, Patty, called Jess Lewis back to give them the final number, she was forced to speak with Danny. Based upon how Mike described the experience to me and how Patty was treated, I was absolutely appalled and incredibly embarrassed. Danny yelled at her on the phone and was incredibly disrespectful. Even young kids should not act like Danny did, let alone a full grown adult. Danny is PATHETIC, to say the very least. Words cannot describe how UPSET and DISAPPOINTED I am in Jess Lewis Transmission and their poor excuse for an employee, Danny. So, to conclude, if you are strictly looking for a quality transmission, Jess Lewis Transmission may suffice. However, if you are looking for honest, respectful, and kind service and people who will stand behind their service, their product, and their warranty, in addition to a quality transmission, RUN AWAY FROM JESS LEWIS TRANSMISSION! read more

I had a similar experience with Lewis Jess. Danny is a complete jerk. They performed a clutch job on my Subaru. When I started it from their parking lot, the engine had a very bad vibration at 2000 rpm. I took it to my mechanic who told me the problem was coming from the clutch area. I took it back to Lewis Jess, they had it for over 2 weeks, claimed they changed out the parts, and told me it was some other problem. Please don't go here. They are rude and incompetent. read more

I took my 1999 Chevy Cavalier back to them in 2008. Dan gave me a fair competitive price that was less than other transmission places. Since they did such a good job with my car, I am now taking my 1999 Plymouth Neon to them. I took it to Patriot for the transmission before and they just put in a used one and Jess Lewis would have been cheaper. I have gone back to Jess Lewis because they are honest and I trust them. They tell me what the problem is from the beginning and get to it as soon as they can. I haven't had a transmission problem lately, but with other things like the controller. I won't take my car to anyone else for transmission problems. read more

I took my 2005 Mercury Sable that has 90,000 miles on it to Jess Lewis to look at the transmission. Two other Ford mechanics drove it and could not feel a transmission shudder. Jess Lewis did not even drive it but just looked at the transmission fluid and told me it was full of bubbles and that I would need to replace the transmission. I took my car to two other shops that drove it and hooked it up to a scope and it did not record a problem. We are starting with a transmission service and change of fluid and going from there. Beware of this transmission shop!! If I had just listened to them about the bubbles, I would be out about $1500.00. They didn't even take the time to drive it or hook it up to a scope. i had a car into AAMCO in Venice Florida and after a month and no work done but dropped the tranny, AAA'd it out of there with tranny in a box. took tranny in box to Jess Lewis in Ft. Wayne and they did what AAMCO could not do in a month in less than a week. Several parts missing from the visit to AAMCO, so they had to make a block. hauled the repaired tranny to back to Florida in trunk again and had a mechanic install it. a few more parts were missing and difficult to find. Jess lewis looked several times, but could not find. found part at salvage yard, tranny in and running fine! second visit with Jess Lewis for transmission work and completely happy with their expert work!! Before i took my car from the worst transmission store ever which is Jess lewis i found my car hit on the back of the car and i told him there is a hit in the back of the car he told me we are not responsible for your car. I told him the car was in your store so you should be responsible for any customers' cars. And also i came to check my car i found my car unlocked. The car should be locked.
