I'm having a great foodie week. 2 restaurants in a row that I feel deserve 5 stars, both local to my home and minority owned. It isn't fancy but it's exactly the types of places I want to frequent. I LOVED my dish. I was with a friend who has been here 4-5 times and said every dish she tried was delicious. I was already planning my next visit before finishing the dish in front of me. I had the garlic shrimp plate which was butterflied and to die for. It was perfectly grilled. My friend had the fried shrimp tacos in a crispy shell and loved it as well. Chips and salsa are plentiful - homemade salsa is amazing - it has a nice kick to it. I plan to head back next week with my other half, he's going to LOVE it. They have a few outdoor seats and inside they have TV's if you'd like to catch a game. Note that they close at 7pm (later on Fridays), this is more of a breakfast/lunch place...early dinner works too. They have great lunch specials which I took advantage of today. I hope gentrification doesn't ruin all the local joints in the neighborhood. This place is a keeper and will be a place I frequent. read more

This is our family's go to restaurant for ceviche and aguachiles. It is always so fresh and so good. The aguachiles are perfectly spicy and have the right amount of acidity. My boyfriend loves the mojarra frita from there and so do my children. Street parking is never really hard to find. The restaurant is family owned and has been there for years. A friend took me to try this place a couple weeks ago. We each ordered a regular ceviche tostada. They give extra tostadas on the side, each one is more like three. They also give little sample dishes of two other types of ceviche. We also had the baja style fried fish taco. The taco was really excellent with a huge piece of fish and lots of veggie toppings. THE WORST AGUACHILE I HAVE EVER HAD. I'm not sure what kind of aguachile everyone here is used to eating, but this is definitely not something I would ever willingly eat. It had an odd texture and smell and it isn't even served with full shrimps, they come chopped. It had an awful after taste and I couldn't stomach one bite of it. It was covered in this green chunky sauce....just god awful. I told my waitress I didn't like it and would like to know if I could be refunded. She WALKED AWAY FROM ME MIDSENTENCE and angrily told me she had to ask the chef. I didn't even have the chance to order something else I might like instead. No refund of course but whatever, I'll take my over all 71 dollar loss. I'll never be returning though and I strongly urge you to not even give this place a chance. I keep ordering from here and I don't think I'll ever stop. The shrimp, fish, and combination ceviche is everything I look for. It's not on their menu if you walk in so you have to ask. The tacos are also really tasty and yummy. I had it delivered first, then walked in for pick-up the second and third time. Only complaint for the last two times was that they gave us two fish tacos instead of one fish taco and one marlin taco. And then the third time they gave us shrimp ceviche instead of fish ceviche. And I found a hair in the ceviche one time. You might think that to be gross and it kind of is but the ceviche was so good I had to let it slide. I'm about to order my 4th round of food from them. I've been going to this place with my family for a very long time. I used to really like their food but now the food is not the same. I love their i"crab tostadas but now they are more like tomato tostadas. The rest of the food is ok but not as great as it used to be. Their service continues to decline. The waitress who usually attends to us seems to forget all the time items we order but we have to keep reminding her. She doesn't have that customer service in her and it feels like she doesn't want to do the job because gets bothered when we ask her for something. She should find somewhere else to go work where she doesn't have to deal with people. I don't know yet if my family and I will go back, just hope they improve overall. Every time we have gone there the ambience is quiet, it seems they don't have the same number of clients as they used to. read more

Good stuff here at Jesse's. Not bad prices. For a whole 12 oysters fully loaded under $20. Fried shrimp and fish taco was good. Comes in a tortilla which is not fried. Comes with Cole slaw, creame and hot sauce. Like your normal fish and shrimp taco. We also ordered the fish tostada which is good. The shrimp ceviche has some fish, octopus and shrimp. Yummie love the sauce. Which j straight up drank. The avocado chile was different it was Spicy and good. Something I don't see to often in a Mexican restaurants. The service was good. Street Parking, not sure there is rear parking. Pretty big place for big parties. It wasn't busy as the other mariscos we went by. I would come back. When we first walked in, we noticed that we were a bit out of place there, as we looked at the specials menu and went up to see what we should order. However, a young waitress came up to us, gave us the menus and took our orders. We got the mixed seafood tostada first. We got two, and we could barely finish it. Most of my party except for my buddy tried the onion relish that they gave us and after a while, we noticed our lips burning and then saw the orange bits of habanero chilies with the onions. Some of us liked it, but we all agreed that it packed quite the heat. Funny moment aside, it was my first time having ceviche and the taste was pretty good and everything was fresh (I particularly liked the octopus since it had the right amount of chew), but it wasn't my favorite thing. The fish taco was pretty darn good, but the fish was fried so that it was very dark. Batter aside, the fish itself was quite soft and in nuggets. The taste for the slaw and sauce for the toppings was very good. We also had a caldo de mar, which was very flavorful. It was a bit salty for me, but I could taste the seafood, bell peppers and carrots in it. Place was alright for me. Parking was on the street around the corner and not difficult to find. read more

I have not written a yelp review in a long time but the food was so good I felt a higher presence compel me to write so more people come to this place. FOOD: My total was $9 for a fish taco + shrimp ceviche tostada. The portions were HUGE. I only ate less than half of each and had to take the rest home. The fish taco was hands down the best I've ever had. Better than San Diego or any of the super popular places in South Whittier and it was only $3. Ceviche was also AMAZING and HUGE. I've literally never been to a place that has offered so much ceviche on top of one tostada. They even give you a bunch of tostada shells on the side because they know your first one gonna break if you try and lift this shit. Parking: It's shit but it's LA so I don't get why people complain about that anymore. If you can't find street parking along Adams or Catalina you can honestly just park at the Ralphs and walk over. They are no longer Cash only so no worries about that as well. Another bonus is that it's a family owned restaurant & we have to support our local businesses!!! :') The only downside is that they close so early lol. I have literally lived across the street for over a year now and never visited because I usually have a really late dinner.
